Hi. I tried this soap clay recipe today. Initially I had a lot of problem knitting it. Sticked on my fingers. Than I found out that I have to keep on adding the flour until it stopped sticking onto my fingers and hand. Finally I got the perfect dough. Thank you so much Cat.

I know of someone on line that charges up to $100.00 for a small sculpture and I know it cost not more than 2 Canadian dollars. On her post she said and did put her cold porcelain on. But you can't get it. Then today I found you and your one smart cookie. It's nice to meet you. I made your soap clay tonight. I did't over do it with the cornstarch because it has to cool down and you can do it anytime. Who would have though soap makes sense now. I'll be looking you up every day. God Bless and thanks a lot for everything.

I tried making this. I used the exact measurements suggested by CreativeCat. I have no clue what went wrong. It was incredibly sticky and super messy. Might have ended up adding like a whole cup of cornflour and kneading for like half an hour, it still wouldn't get firm, it was just sticking to my hands and everywhere else. And in the end I added a tiny bit (like 1 tbsp) of all purpose flour and then it kind of set. Whew! It's too soft. It's nice and relaxing to just keep kneading it with your hands haha. Try pulling a teardrop - it will never tear :D it's that soft. When you try and make something it is way too soft it kind of melts and flattens and you can't handle it without damaging the shape of your piece. It also sticks to work surfaces even after spreading baby oil. (does clean up easy though because it dries so quickly) And in just 3 days it is smelling bad (maybe we should have included a bit of vinegar to prevent spoiling??). I definitely don't know about 3 months! :-P When I work with this clay, it dries out at the surface a lot. It's showing cracks in 5 mins. I strongly feel regular cold porcelain is much much better in every way. I don't mean to put all negative comments, but this was just my experience with this clay. Don't think I'll try it again. But your video is great and your pieces look really good. Wonder where I went wrong... ! Can you show a tutorial piece with this particular clay? Great channel! God bless :)

I just made a batch of your cold porcelain clay yesterday, which I've made before & love. I will have to make this one too tomorrow & compare them. I'm guessing the consistency is very nice due to the soap. I love the fact that it will keep at room temperature for several months as well. I actually used to be a soap maker, so this is the perfect clay formulation for me. Thanks for sharing all of your awesome ideas 🙂 👍

@nisha jain Add tissue paper one by one to it this will improve the quality of clay and it will strengthen the clay. Keep kneading it between your hands as we do with roti dough and use oil on your hands to avoid sticking clay on your hands. Quality improves but it dries fast and joints in the clay becomes visible after drying. But I am happy with this clay at least better than before.

Instead of grating the soap (tedious task and dangerous for your fingers), what do you think about using liquid/cream soap?
@deborahtombs5774
@deborahtombs5774 4 жыл бұрын
I doubt it would work as you need it to harden and due to a liquid soap always staying liquidy when exposed to air, heat or cooler temperatures the clay would most likely be mushy or never dry properly

Hi, you should mix all porpoise flour and cornstarch together, cause if you only add cornstarch, the dough won't be stiff. Also if you only use flour the dough will become too thick and it will be very hard to knead. If you're clay crack when it dries, next time apply a layer of glue before the clay dries. This will prevent the clay from cracking and growing moulds on the dried clay. I hope these information helped you

Hi there, thank you for this amazing video. I've tried it today and don't know if I did something wrong but mine was very soft, sticking to the bowl and I ended up having to add a lot of corn starch. Then it was not very flexible so I added some PVA glue and a bit of glycerin. It became very sticky again and i had to use some corn starch to be able to knead it. It is now in a wrap then in a tight container. I will wait tomorrow to see if it turns out ok. I also knead it for at least 5 minutes 3 times with oil on my hands but it stayed sticky in my hands. The problem I have is that the clay doesn't seem as smooth as yours and the teardrop is "falling" a bit. I didn't have the measuring cups you used so I used a bowl and applied the measurements as follow: one bowl of grounded soap (dove), 1/3 bowl of PVA glue, 1/2 bowl of corn starch. I didn't measure the corn starch add ups I had to do to get the dough consistency. hopefully, tomorrow it will be great but if you could let me know any insight on how to make it right if it's not, I will appreciate it. Now, I want to say thank you for your work and tutorials. You have given me inspirations for my jewelry business. Thanks to you I trust my creativity to go beyond. I usually make jewelry with natural gemstones and stainless steel findings but wanted to try something else to outline the gemstones. I have tried polymer clay and didn't like it. Plus, i prefer something more natural with the gemstones. Sorry for the long message and the possible mistakes (I am French:) ) Thank you again. Love from France . Armelle

Hello😊 Was the glue and soap mixture boiling hot when u added cornstarch? Because at that stage when u add flour, it gets partly cooked and soaks almost all moisture from the mixture....if you add flour before boiling point then it stays uncooked and sticky and u end up adding more flour, and to balance that more glue and loose the perfect texture.....hope this will help😊 Let me know if you have any more queries

@@CreativeCatCreations hi thank you for tour answer. I think you have pin point my mistake. I don't think it was boiling when i added the cornstarch. I have recycled it by mixing it with tissue paper and some corn starch to make paper mâché. Will try it to see if it works. Unfortunately i have made quite a lot so i don't want to loose it. Can i microwave it? Any idea on how to save it? Thanks again
