I know this is an old video, but I want to thank you for this clay recipe. A charity I work with in Mexico made up 26 batches of this clay to use in a free crafting day for disadvantaged local children. 10,000 grams of clay, so that 100 children could each make their very own clay octopus to take home. It has made these kids very happy.

So, I tried this today - it was wayyyyyyy sticky when I was trying to knead it, and I gave up on the lotion idea and sprayed my hands with nonstick spray. That made all the difference - the sticky goop turned right into beautiful clay! The longer I worked it, the smoother and prettier it got! I am thrilled with the feel and look of it! It's in the fridge chilling, and I've got to go to work, but I can't wait to try using it tomorrow! Thanks so much for the tutorial!

@chilling00711 ай бұрын
Can you tell me is it working?
@w.l.elliott718211 ай бұрын
@chilling007 It's okay, actually, but it has some issues in using. IT SHRINKS so badly as it dries that if the thickness is at all uneven it cracks and twists. Too thin and it becomes brittle. I wouldn't use this for art with much detail, but it would be great for cookie cutter ornaments. I did not have good luck using it with silicone molds, but I may have not done it right as I'm new to molds as well.

My cold porcelain lasted about a little over 4 years (about 4 1/2). I made a batch and created a few items, I stored it away because we moved to a different house and I forgot about it. I found it in one of my craft totes while packing up to move again 4 years later, I poked at the packaging and it was still soft (not as soft as before but soft enough to pull apart, and hold details). We moved from a cold place to a hot place, so when I unpacked it; it was rock solid. It probably could have lasted a lot longer, but I think the move cooked it. Cold porcelain is pretty awesome for a homemade clay, Thank you for sharing how you cook it and your beautiful creations. ❤

Do you use Corn Starch? Or is Corn flour something in grain department . Thanks

cornstarch is cornflour
@scootermom17912 жыл бұрын
@@amamamia4391 Not in the US. They are 2 different things. Corn flour is yellow and is protein-based. Corn starch is, of course, white and is starch-based. In other countries, they mean corn starch when they say corn flour. I only point this out because if someone bought and used corn flour for this recipe in the US, it would likely produce a very different result.
@amamamia43912 жыл бұрын
@@scootermom1791 Thanks for your concern, corn meal is yellow and makes good bread and muffins, corn flour is what some countries call corn starch and is used as a thickener for puddings, gravies, sauces and real handy for some crafts.
@scootermom17912 жыл бұрын
@@amamamia4391 corn meal, corn flour, and corn starch are distinctly different corn products in the US. Corn meal is grittier version of corn flour made by grinding dried corn kernels. Corn flour is made by grinding the corn meal into a fine powder. Corn starch isn't produced by grinding dry corn kernels at all. It's a grain starch extracted from the endosperm of corn kernels and dried to form a white powder. It has completely different properties than corn flour.

Hi, I made this glue again yesterday and it was really nice,I tried your peacock Diya from this clay and made a big leaf shape from this clay but it's taking so much time to get dry, and when I try to make any design on this clay with the help of the tools they disappeared or looking very fade away, and when I use water with this it's gets too sticky, please help ☺️

The design will get more clear when it will dry. Normal flower petals get dry in 24 hrs...thicker objects will take more time as per thickness and temperature

I made this as clay it was amazing but after a few days the unused clay got fungus on it despite being in an airtight container Please tell how to avoid it
@davidkendrick51924 жыл бұрын
Hi Anam, what I would suggest, which is really effective and cheap, is adding borax powder to your mixture when you make it. I've found (from research and also from use) that borax is really, really effective against all kinds of fungus, mildew, etc. It's not very toxic for humans, but fungus just can't stand it, it seems. (Also, borax dissolves easily under heat, so it will dissolve fine when you are making the clay.) Basically, if there is a mold problem anywhere, think borax. It's amazing for getting rid of and preventing mold (fungus).
@davidkendrick51924 жыл бұрын
Borax is also very poisonous for insects, which can also be a problem for the clay, so that is another advantage to it. Btw: we also use it as a very effective ant poison: just mix raw or brown sugar with borax in water; about 5 parts sugar to 1 part borax. The ants eat it all like crazy, and you never see them again, as they pass it on to everyone inside their nest.
@anam47204 жыл бұрын
@@davidkendrick5192 thankyou so much for such amazing tips. Would you tell me how much of the borax should be used when making a cup of clay?
@davidkendrick51924 жыл бұрын
@@anam4720 Hi Anam, sorry I didn't see your reply at first. I'm not sure exactly. Maybe 1 tablespoon (3 teaspons) to be sure, 2 teaspoons should be fine. It's pretty powerful. Even 1 teaspoon will make a huge difference. It should be added early to give it time to fully dissolve and spread throughout the mixture. I'm sorry, I don't know the exact amounts for this -- I haven't made this particular substance myself. I've used borax in other contexts and it works wonders for mold and fungus. (It's even destroyed mildew growing under the carpet, the layer under the carpet, that was smelling. I just added borax dissolved in hot water, let it soak into the carpet from above, and it all went away.)
