Don’t you get flagged for copyright infringement by KZbin? I’m curious because other reviewers don’t even play a bit of the songs.
@anadialog5 ай бұрын
Thanks for bringing that up! 🙏 Yes, indeed! Simply you give up monetization. I don’t get a dime from this. But that is ok (even though I am promoting music not USING it). What makes me mad is that a lot of KZbinrs say that they can’t play anything because KZbin will block them or penalize them in some way. Not true, they simply don’t want to give up their cash. It is true that some artists and more specifically some songs like AC/DC don’t allow any kind of reproduction and therefore the video will be blocked. It happened to me a few times BUT it is very rare. That is the whole and naked truth of this. I just wish other KZbinrs would be more transparent on this.

Terrific selection- always refreshing when people hi-light the less obvious "go to" discs such as Dark Side of the Moon, Steely Dan etc- yes they are good but that particular furrow has been ploughed endlessly. Great to get "new" recommendations. One area a lot of people overlook are the 24 Bit Remastered discs (along with 20 Bit & 22 Bit and 32 Bit!) These are easy to source used and new and many sound fantastic without breaking the bank. One particular disc and track I will recommend is a 32Bit Remaster of "Rescued The Best of Fontella Bass" and the track is her massive 1965 hit "Rescue Me" It sounds exceptional. 1997 release on CHESS 329 335-2 / CHESS MCD 09335 Legendary Masters Series. 3 panel digipack with 12 page booklet. Other discs in the series are just as good sonically too.

I've heard exceptional sound from recordings made on many different types of equipment, so I no longer pay much attention to the chain. One of my favorites sonically and performance-wise is Los Lobos *Kiko* on CD from 1992 (there is an SACD version also). It's not the only great sounding recording I've heard with a Mitchell Froom production credit (The Corrs' *Home* CD is gorgeous as well). The SPARS code says ADD and the mastering is by Bob Ludwig. WB gave the band a lot of creative freedom on that album and it certainly comes out in the finished work!

I think you should add the Vince Guaraldi Trio soundtrack to a Charlie Brown Christmas. Yes its from 1965, but completely remastered, and a US Library of Congress pick of 1 of 25 for 2012. Decades ago when our stereos weren't very good, we looked to dorect to disc and other audiophile pressings to elevate our sound quality temporarily, while we played them. Our systems turned back from a chariot back into a pumpkin the second the lp ended. Many of us got into the habit of playing them more often than lesser fidelity recordings which had better and more interesting music. We played audiophile recordings more than they deserved musically, and it resulted in putting sound first and music merit second, and resulted in a lot of us forgetting how to really listen and enjoy music. So we were listening analytically, & instead of the music taking us on a ride, we took control of the steering wheel and were doing the equivelent of riding around the same block.Boring! Maybe the best thing about having a much better stereo now, is just about all our cds sound clean, and we don't have to resort to listening to less than inspired music, which in most ways is a waste of time. Not that there weren't some super fidelity records with interesting music. But how many of those kind of records do you frequently pull out to play now? That is if you've overcome the disease? Of the originals, I occasionally pull out Let It Go by Clair Marlo on Sheffield Labs, or Trackin' by Lew Tabackin on RCA 45RPM or Fatha by Earl Fatha Hines on M&K Realtine. But other than a few like that the only audiophile pressings from back then I play fairly often are some half speed mastered lps. The recordings you reach for the most are the best records...To You. I like Pink Floyd who was mentioned, but sometimes I think they were a little overrated. Crime Of The Century by Supertramp is a greater and more creative work than anything they've done. Lyrically it's up there with A Trick Of The Tail by Genesis and some of The Eagles most philosophical works. It seems like most of the best recordings are nion-audiophile recordings. Which is good, since they don't cost so much. I recently played a cd by a great Latin singer Maria Rita, and I don't think I ever got such a sensation of a real singer actually in my room, and I don't understand a word of her language. It is one of her self titled cds, with her face in profile smiling in black and white. Another great series of recordings for both music and sound is any cd I've heard by the Jazz Fusion singer Marilyn Scott... Sample This by Joe Sample is really a Best Of cd, and the tracks are sonically a whole grade above the cds those songs originally were from. Joe Sample was the keyboard genius for The Crusaders (formerly called The Jazz Crusaders). Really nice stuff and the piano and everything else does have near real life presence, once your stereo is really warmed up. Try playing it 3rd, after playing a few cds before it. The cd Best Of Traffic, the one with near 20 tracks will surprise you with how well the latter Traffic albums especially were recorded. Great music and sound. Here are sone classic modern jazz tracks (hearable on KZbin) that have only fairly good sound, but they and their artists are worth hearing and discovering Always There - Ronnie Laws Lakeshore Drive - Art Porter The Epic - Pat Metheny A video like this can help all the viewers, since we all play music. Videos that spotlight equipment that only 1 in 25 people want, or can afford only benefits about 4% of the viewers. Something to think about. Great video. Thanks!

I agree. Most of my favorite pop music was recorded live and probably isn’t the best technically but it’s the music I like. Contemporary and some vintage equipment can really bring almost all records to life.
@sidesup82865 ай бұрын
When I got the Maria Rita cd as part of a big lot, and I heard she wasn't singing in my language, I almost turned it off. But then I listened to that sound. That sound!...Before long I didn't care if I couldn't understand a word. That voice too!...There just must be some real quality people with some real quality recording equipment that show up on certain recordings. I like vintage 1980s and 1990s equipment also. Technology might have gone up a bit, but so have short cuts and compromising for more corporate profit
@anadialog5 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your sincere thoughts and experience. It is greatly appreciated and refreshing. Yes, I agree, in past as today many times we go after sound rather than music. I tend to follow all three sections and I think I can say that I am fairly aware of when Indo that: 1. Sound. I love sound, even effects, nature etc. I did a dedicated somewhat odd video on this, which I think you may enjoy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5Xdap6YjKx6psksi=g-B6OZdeTZwv87el 2. Music. A lot of old, low budget or simply bad recordings just don’t sing sonically but they speak to the heart in terms of of art and engagement. 3. Music +sound= magic. Those rare recordings like Crime of the Century that perfectly combine both worlds! Taking notes on your recommendations, thanks!

Thanks! I would recomend the label BIS for classical music. The album Malher 3 and 9 from Osmo Vanksa will test your dynamics and soundstage. It is very good way to setup a system. My experience is that a lot of my audiophile friends setup their systems with rock, blues and even jazz but will fall apart with albums I cited earlier. Once they adjust to that of classical orchestra music everything else sounded better. Also I mean the ECM label is a awesome audiophile label with seriously good music.
@anadialog5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the recommendations. I have a problem with symphonic music. The sound is a wall, massive mix with no detail but huge dynamics. I truly can’t stand that, but I do love that in person, live. That is why I love baroque music, chamber music and small ensembles where the instruments are distinct. I know that is not a common perspective and classical buffs probably think that I am crazy but that is the it is for me. In any case, classical music CDs are in most cases very well done so they already start at another level. Will look into your tips BUT I can’t stand ECM. I tried and own several CDs from them but they are just lifeless to my ears. Not all but most of them.
@AntoninPassemardPaintings5 ай бұрын
@@anadialog a system that reproduce a symphony well do not do a wall of sound... you can hear every section of the orchestra if not there is a problem in the system. I do get your point about ECM from 70's to 80's it is more interesting music. My point was only that it is audiophile quality.

people often suggest good sounding CDs for "testing" and the music is usually boring or awful in some way, the best thing for testing is to play your favourite songs, one in each genre, then you will get the best test results from music you know well, another way to test a system is play something that you like but sounds mediocre, maybe you might think better of it if you get yourself a much better system.

That first track you played Joe Henderson, I wonder how relevant it was? Reason I ask is is because it's almost identical to Dire Dire Docks on the Mario 64 soundtrack. There is a bridge in that song that actually uses the bridge from Christopher Cross Sailing. Koji Kondo who composed all of the Mario music was known to almost clone many jazz tracks, including the main theme from Super Mario Brothers. I have been trying to for years figure out what he stole for the rest of the tune and I am almost certain this was it. I just added it to my Tidal playlist (looks like 1993 master) and will probably go looking for an original pressing CD or vinyl. Thanks so much!

This style music almost all sounds alike. Like walking bass lines, arpeggios are universal. This style is suited to a soundtrack for video game or movie. With only 12 possible notes and only a few combinations that work harmonically well together (to human ears) it’s really impossible to be completely original.

Don't listen to much jazz. I use Close to the Edge and Tubular Bells as my test discs.

Dude, put your camera on autoexposure. Every time you put a CD close to it, it burns out.

Bonjour. Félicitations pour vos excellentes sélections. Bravo. Je pourrais conseiller de nombreux albums "audiophiles". Parmi eux, par exemple, les albums de Cassandra Wilson, dont celui la : kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2rPpah5e6uVidEsi=vDLkEj_lk0l8Kp_e kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmjZfaiJqKySlZosi=egH_-k_SWkczxb8C

My God, you're throwing the discs into so much glare from the light you can't see anything! Not to mention chopping off the very top..

Audiophile music is not for me Copyright is easy to avoid but a lot of these self-designated audiophile channels don’t know the rules This channel apparently realizes that you can play copyright music

As stated I decide to play music because that is how you are supposed to do things, but most KZbinrs don’t want to lose their money. I give up monetization but I can present you exceptional music and make the video how I want!

Oh great,, another elevator music best of,, it seems all audiophiles do is sit in room alone and listen to Jazz on their ridiculously Overpriced equipment,, I think Jazz is cool,, sometimes, But C’mon,, The Talking Heads, Rage Against the Machine,, and just about everything from Radiohead and Daft Punk are great audiophile cd’s that won’t put you to sleep

The ones you listed, except for a few thinks by Daft Punk are not considerable as test discs. In any case, if you want pop I did the first video for you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2ndpKiaqLSppLssi=TuaSljijQQAmOOt0

How do CDs sound better than a high bitrate stream or download? Shocking reveal...they don't. 😯 Physical media only makes sense for storing analog data. Why would I want a CD if I can get better results with newer codecs/standards? The world of hi-fi is full of gimmicks but you know the saying, a fool and his money.
@anadialog4 ай бұрын
Gimmick? For what purpose? I don’t sell anything, only sharing my passion. Did you do an A/B test with a quality CD (possibly the old AAD versions) against the same streaming file with the same resolution? Tell me when you do and…yes, you are welcome! ;-)

Using music to enjoy your equipment ... instead of the other way around ... doesn't make sense to me.
@anadialog23 күн бұрын
It’s exactly the opposite. I need quality recordings to test equipment to understand the good and the bad to find ultimately what makes me enjoy more music and when it happens everything else disappears.
