Dylan, new to your channel. Sitting here in Surrey, UK listening to your passion. It’s hard to describe just how much joy you bring in these troubled times. There is so much bad economic/geopolitical stuff around but spending time sharing your enthusiasm is a form of therapy. It’s a reminder of what’s really important in life. Spending your life following your passion is profound. You are inspiring and thank you so much. Gotta get out to Charlotte. Best Julian.

Thanks for sharing with us ! I only have a modest (600-ish titles) LP collection, but really enjoy listening to them . Took the plunge and purchased a couple of the top-tier pressings (MoFi`s One Step version of "Fragile" by Yes, and Jeff Beck`s "Truth", from MoFi using the Gain 2 technology). While a bit pricey, you know where the money went when you play these on a good system. Enjoy !

Man, lovely system, nice to see the Mac valve amp paired with the Klipsch, must sound incredible! Im fairly new into proper analogue, after collecting records since 2000 only got my first system in 2017. Been going crazy with buying records and eventually found out about MoFi and Analogue Productions and Impex. I have a few UD1S and UHQRs. I adore the last side of the UD1S of Bridge over troubled water is what made me appreciate the power of those premium records, just phenomenal. The Rastaman Vibration is probably my favorote UHQR. The Muddy Waters Folk Singer AP 45 is absolutely mind blowing, just incredible even on my modest setup. I have the KOB 33 UHQR and its incredible, didnt realise the 45 was coming out so soon after. How much would that zeppelin box go for? That's incredible!

Thanks for another great video! Just pointing out it's not that I now think MoFi sounds bad. In fact I haven't heard many people say they sound bad. Hey Dillon, I always respect your opinions and I've recently viewed lots of "best sounding vinyl" vids. I'm amazed that the Peter Gabriel 45 RPM versions of his albums are never mentioned. I have several on your list to compare to and the recent PG releases are on the top of my list. I would add that the 45 RPM version of the PG album 'Security' should be making lists like this. I've not seen it mentioned once.

Wow those UHQR box sets are something to behold, absolute work of art style of presentation that other labels would be wise to emulate. And I was so pleased to see Ted Nugent feature in this list since I have loved this record and in particular Sranglehold which I discovered as a result of playing Guitar Hero many moons ago which eventually inspired me to go out and hunt down a dusty old second hand version acquired from a local store. I’ll treasure it til the end of my days, sounds superb! Cheers

Hey Dylan. My Ted Nugent LP is pretty clean as I bought it brand new when it came out and didn't abuse it. Also, IMO, Stranglehold is the song that it is due to Derek St Holmes vocals. He is out on the road now and there should be a video of his version. His guitar playing is pretty good too!

Great video (and your selections). Would love to get your thoughts on the fierce debates on the tech forums of people who claim digital is superior to vinyl. Not so much the debate, but the actual issue at the center - is it just us who can hear something uniquely different in a vinyl recording? Because it does defy engineering stats. I am a technologist by trade, but I opt for the intangible quality that vinyl provides. A different listening experience if you have the right equipment as you've stated.

In terms of colored vinyl, I tend to notice that slightly transparent colored vinyl tends to have less surface noise. Might be just the records i have, but seems pretty consistent overall.

First time commenter, long time creeper. Great “top” list video for starters. Really just wanted to express how much I agree with your MoFi assessment. Obviously there’s a lot of nuance that can’t be conveyed in a short comment. But I personally stopped watching channels that immediately badmouthed and encouraged banning MoFi after the revelation. Again, lots of nuance and I do feel they were deceptive. But that doesn’t diminish the audio quality of their product and the fact that many of my best sounding records are MoFi. Anywho, this was longer than expected. Have a great 4th and keep spinnin!

I'd probably drop dead once the harmonica/guitar/keyboard solo hits on Refuge lol even through my crappy corolla speakers that track gives me goosebumps EVERY time XD I know you're not really into metal, but have you listened to any Opeth? Steven Wilson has worked with them quite a bit, and you can tell that they have influenced each-other. Opeth became more chill while Porcupine Tree got heavier lol

If you didn't own and run a music store, I'd be mighty envious of your owning that Zeppelin box. They're one of my top five favorite bands- along with the Dead, Beatles, Steely Dan, and maybe Radiohead. I do have 33 rpm Classic Records of I, III, IV, ITTOD, and an incredibly dynamic 80s pressing of II that sounds closer to a Ludwig (which I've heard) than not (a kind of 'hot stamper,' so to speak?; but with some surface noise). I'm on the hunt for good Classic copies of some of the others, but whoa!, they're pricey, naturally.
@rolando_j_5 ай бұрын
The one you want is Physical Grafitti. I've oned it since it was released and nothing compares to the Classic Records version except for well the other Classic Records version in the Road Case. I have both. But 8 sides on 8 records takes a lot of effort, so I don't play that version often. The 45 rpm is better, not a lot better. I've tried playing other versions after I bought this, and they all sound off. Grundman got two of the albums exactly right. LZ I is amazing. But in comparison to what else is available, Physical Grafitti is miles better than any other pressing.
