@@zaccatacc Teddy Roosevelt and George Washington come to mind as two pretty iconic examples of politicians who stood for something. Washington could have easily stayed in power longer, but refused for the good of the republic. Roosevelt didn't even want to be president, but he became president after an assassination. He went on to protect the national parks, dismantle big business influence, and lay the ground work for a lot of federal programs that help everyday Americans. It is easy to be cynical about politics because there are so many bad actors, but every once and a while someone comes along who actually believes in something.

It's sort of ironic and mind bending because an actor and a politician both lie for a living only the difference is the actor is supposed to lie for his job but the politician isn't so when an actor who's playing a politician tells a truth that a politician should've told you get one hell of a paradox

@@Jacob_frye Except for an actors job is to find the truth and act based on it. You can't act out a lie because otherwise you don't connect to the character or their motivations. Good actors actually try to feel what their characters are going through - its a weird trick where they put the character somewhere between themselves and what the script calls for. Acting is certainly not lying though. When acting is done well and in its purist form an actor is emoting reality so physiologically close to the truth the audience actually believes its real. Lying can't do what the truth can do for an actor as a tool, but its easy to see how the truth can start to look like a lie when actors aren't, in reality, going through the same thing as their characters. So I hear a lot that an actors job is to lie. Kevin Spacey isn't actually Frank Underwood, but he's pretty damn convincing that he is. Kevin Spacey is such a good actor that when he emotes lying, you can actually tell his character is lying. Few actors can do that convincingly actually - Better Call Saul is great for seeing this done well too though the characters all do it in different ways. Give that a second and realize as humans we can't actually lie on top of a lie when tied to our bodies/mind. We can only lie when the truth is present and we must cover it up.

Here we are in 2022 and this clip is still accurate and we’re reminded of just how powerful allegations and the left are. RIP to Season 6. A Shakespearean ending but an unfitting one to such a great show.

lowkey wished they kept spacey in the final season, would've loved to see him turn the USA into a dystopian-like autocratic empire. Would've been a very interesting concept imo. I always imagined it similar to the empire in Star Wars lol.

President Underwood vs President Kirkman The ruthless despot and Captain America.... Kirkman is ruthless when he has to be, but he always sees the good in people first which in Underwood's case could be fatal. Underwood also has his enforcer Doug Stamper. Kirkman has Agt. Hannah Wells but she has to work within the FBI, Stamper has no such boundaries. Politically wise Underwood is everything Kirkman is not but the ability to lead is where Kirkman shines and will ultimately prevail.
