Awesome! Now I can show my parents and friends this and they can see for themselves why the "simple" tire change I do for them in spring/fall takes a couple of hours. Cleaning off all the caked salt and dirt and protecting before is seriously such a lifesaver for the car. I always do this (although you gave me some very good new tips here) and even when living in a country with the dreaded road salt the cars don't rust and look like new underneath. Best channel on KZbin. Thanks!

I love that I can go back to a video I watched a year or two ago and still be amazed and enjoy every second of it. I’ve always thought about putting a tire product on the inner sidewall. When we left the rust belt for sunny California in 2014, both of my Year-2011 vehicles were showing the effects of road salt. I knew that if I didn't do something quick, I'd lose my vehicles to corrosion. I wasn't lazy; I always hosed off the road mud/salt from underneath as soon as I got home (froze my a** in the process!). The long 2,000-mile+ trip helped get rid of a lot of the rust. When I got to Cali, I noticed a lot of the red rust had been "sandblasted" away by road sand and granules. I quickly steel-wooled and wire brushed the rest away, primed and spray painted the metal with rust-neutralizing paint. I feel none of these products here or anywhere will revert the rusting process, NaCl will always win unless you remove it MECHANICALLY and then protect the metal with neutralizing paint. But I enjoyed this video and would be willing to give SOME of the products a shot. FF to 2018, my vehicles look great, rust-free and are worth more that what "the book" says, because of the "perceived special care" by the owner, that makes it desirable by a potential buyer.

Regarding rust fighting, he neglected maybe the most IMPORTANT areas: the INSIDE lower portions of the doors. You first want to clear the drip holes underneath and then generously spray water in, using any openings like this guy's car has (note the black plastic cap near the top), then spray water the inside the fenders through the openings behind the hinges - lots of salt and sand find their way there and stay moist - rust !! I do this to all doors, hood, trunk, everywhere I can spot openings, drip holes... Another area are the side joints between fenders and bumper caps front and rear: you'll be amazed by the crap remaining there. Also the the suspension towers. I use my pressure washer to do all this. I may be right somewhere since I usually keep my cars for at least 15 years, and this in Québec, with it's harsh, cold, humid winters and the unavoidable heavy use of salt ! BTW, nice infocommercial for Ammo products. Other brands are as good for way less $$ !

Thanks Larry! This was perfect timing as I've been waiting to do my first detail on my Accord I purchased in October and never had time to properly wash and protect before winter with work and school, not to mention lack of garage with cold weather. Now the weather is finally letting up and school is finished for the semester, so this weekend is going to be a good one! :)

I kinda stopped watching when you start cleaning the back side of the wheels. I barely clean even the front side...

Yeah then this channel is not for you I guess.

toompie69 thanks, but I still enjoyed watching him cleaning. Just don't have that much of time do it myself.

I appreciate the whole process and it looks awesome. Like you said I dont have the time and its to much work for a daily driver thats gona look dirty in 2 days again anyways. I do a thorough clean, but skipping all the wax protection parts.

I've been a long time subscriber, Larry. I've always respected your attention to detail and your passion. Although detailing cars is just a hobby of mine, you've taught me a bunch throughout the years to keep my vehicles looking great. Cheers.

Thanks for the kind words and for watching and supporting AMMO. It makes my glad to know that you find the videos helpful and it makes your hobby more enjoyable and efficient.

None of this is necessary. A drive on a rainy day will do the same thing. Way to much nonsense.

I greatly disagree but, to each their own.

A drive on a rainy day will still kick up mud, dust, dirt, rocks etc etc. I don't go as hard as this guy, but simply exposing your vehicle to outside elements and simply driving it will add wear on it no matter what.

@Germanauto that's not very nice. This man's professional life is detailing cars, so of course he's able to detail this vehicle like he does.
@artemiscool675 жыл бұрын
@Germanauto if detailing is what he does how does that make it stupid? It sounds more like you're trying to hide your own inadequacy and lack of motivation...
