I leased a brand new 2006 Saturn VUE in that year, a Chili Pepper Red one, and absolutely LOVED that car. It had a manual transmission, and I treated it like it was a royal carriage. Washed it weekly during the harsh northern Michigan winters, vac'd it twice a week, just took super good care of it, along with having regular oil changes, etc. Wish they still made Saturns.

If you live in a rust belt, it may be worthwhile to take your car to a paint and body shop and getting a good coat of undercoat sprayed onto any and all vulnerable metal parts on the underside of your car. Since I don't, I usually just give my car a really good waxing with synthetic wax once a year and take it through a spray wash every so often to get rid of the dust and grime that couldn't stick to the wax.
