Just bought the Dupray Neat and I’ve been enjoying it. I have an older home and it get grimy quickly. The cleaner instructions does say you can use tap water or distilled but it says to drain before storing and to flush out the tank after every 20 hrs of use (if using tap water). The reviewer didn’t mention that she does that which could be why she has all that build up in the tank. To flush, fill the tank with 50% water/50% vinegar. Let sit overnight. Then dump it out before filling with water for use. Hope that helps!

How long do you have to wait for the green button? Do you have to stop often to wait for ready again?
@CleanFreakGermaphobe4 жыл бұрын
It takes about 8 mins. You only stop when the steam starts to die down and you need to refill. Usually after about an hour of cleaning. In that case, you have to let it cool down completely before removing the lid, adding water (I'd add hottest you can get the tap water, to speed it up) and then wait for the green light.

I’ve had the Dupray Neat for about 3 years now. It’s starting to get tired and definitely produces more water than it used to, so jobs get messy. Still cleans great though. I would recommend using nothing but distilled water to avoid calcium build-up. Also when filling up, keep the trigger held down and the water will go down fine, no bubbling up!

That mineral deposit build up is no joke , mines stopped steaming because of the build up . I use distilled and purified water and still build up . Wish there was a better way of cleaning the water well as I’ve noticed that no matter what you do there is always water left behind. I never leave the plug on when stored hoping the well will dry completely when stored .

The Dupray Neat is on the top or near the top of so many reviews. I was still on the fence as what to purchase. This video helped me decide on the Dupray Neat and that is why I am sharing my experience. Based on customer service alone I would not recommend the Dupray Neat. I recently purchased the Dupray Neat and I have to say their customer service is not friendly nor helpful. I made the purchase from Amazon and received it the next day. I was super excited to receive it so quickly and to get started. I agree with filling up the Neat and how the water can run over. It even did that when I held the spray button down as advised by the Durpray video. Emptying it is very difficult. The Neat put out a lot of water and did not clean my grout well. The Nylon brushes do not hold up at all. The metal one pulled grout out. I worked from at least one in the afternoon until 8pm on the shower and small area of grout on the bathroom floor. I had to do a lot of scrubbing. I had to refill the Neat multiple times (at least 4 times) just to do the shower. Having to wait 20 minutes to refill and another 8 to reheat each time proved to be quite a pain in the rump. I would have thought that one fill should have done a shower, but I refilled it no less than 4 times for an average size shower that honestly wasn't that dirty. Most of the grout still isn't anywhere near the color it should be after hours of cleaning. i feel as though I wasted and entire day. I gtried another day and finially got so frustrated that I just stopped. Now the bathroom grout really looks weird. I am in the process of returning the Neat Steam cleaner. I contacted the company about the large amount of water that i was getting and the fact that it really didn't seem to be cleaning any "better" (their claim in the Amazon description) nor making cleaning grout any easier than with a grout brush and a chemical. I also told them about the nylon brushes not hold up and the metal one pulling out grout. The area of grout that did turn out well I had to use a chemical cleaner with the Neat. I may have got 40 minutes of cleaning each time. Dupray wants me to video my issues and email it to them. They will then analyze it and let me know. After not receiving an email for well over 24 hours, I had already boxed up the Neat to return. I had explained in the email that I was planning to return since purchased through Amazon i was just reaching out to the company to see if any special instructions since it had been used. The emails have gone back and forth for days. They do not respond to my responses quickly. My return window will be up in a week. Each email was the same. I would explain there isn't anyone here to video. I have a medical rocker boot on. To video with a phone and be in water with a boot would not be a good idea and then flat out ask if I ruined my phone would they replace it. Finally, a response that since in the first 30 days, I could return it for a refund or they would replace it. Still did not address the fact that I had used it and would i get a full refund. I responded to the emailed that I wanted a refund (I had put that in every email) and have not received a response and it has been approximately 20 hours. Although, Dupray may make a great product the customer service is not up to par. I would accept the replacement, but I don't want to have to deal with the customer service department again if there is an issue. I called McCulloch yesterday and was asking about the 1375 verses 1385 verse the 1275 just to find the best fit for my needs. The person was extremely nice and helpful not pushing any particular product over another. I was really impressed. If I had an issue it may not have gone so well. IDK. Maybe if I had called Dupray verses email it would have been a better experience. I want to order another steam cleaner, but I am not sure which to order. Not sure if McCulloch is what I need or not. This was just not a pleasant experience. I just wanted everything in writing. That comes from experience of buying a new construction house 2 years ago. -Jennifer (just realized i am under my husband's account)

Just to clarify something with about the temperatures you quoted. Many companies advertise the temperature of the water in the boiler, but not the temperature of the actual steam where it comes out of the hose. The MC machine is actually referencing output steam temperature, as 212ºF is boiling temperature of water. Since the boilers are sealed while in use, you need the water to exceed boiling temperatures to generate any useful pressure. At 58psi that you state for the MC, the boiler temperature would be 290.5ºF. The Neat with a boiler pressure of 50psi is actually at 281ºF. The output temperature will usually drop considerably as it's no longer being heated by the heating element once it leaves the boiler, and it has to travel through a hose which causes it to cool down. As for warranties, having a lifetime warranty on a boiler isn't going to matter as I can guarantee they won't repair it. The machines simply don't cost enough to actually replace parts on it. They instead would offer a deal to simply purchase a new machine instead (in fact, that's exactly what Dupray does). Labor costs to replace a boiler on any machine would not be feasible in this case. It would take 2-4 hours to replace a boiler, and with the average cost of labor for repairs, it would just be cheaper to replace the machine completely. They will simply offer to replace the machine for a discounted price (say 1/2 off or something like that). But the thing that you don't know is that the new machine doesn't carry a warranty on it, as it maintains the warranty of the original (non-working) machine. So if something is to go wrong with it after that, and if it's not a boiler issue, you are S.O.L. at that point and would need to buy another machine. Dupray is also a Canadian company. They don't have a US office location. The US address they list is actually a UPS store location. So if you are in Canada, Dupray might be a better choice here. When you buy cheaper steam cleaners, they typically will not last that long. They are not bad for home owners, but anyone serious about cleaning or deciding to make a business out of it, you will want a professional grade machine (~$1000 or so). You want to also drain out the boiler after each use (let it cool down first). This is important as the water you add to the boiler has minerals in it. When it boilers water into steam, those minerals are left behind in the boiler. If you don't drain out that water, you'll end up with scale and calcium build-up in the boiler, and that will coat everything and begin to harden over time, even if you use distilled water, as distilled water still has some minerals in it. This will affect how well the heating system works and can cause the heating elements to fail, if the boiler has an internal heating element in it. And you also want to store it where it won't freeze.

Bill, you sound like an expert! Want to do a video for our channel about this? I'm serious. Thanks for all the info. I did have a problem with my Tosca. A $900 machine. I wish they would advertise the heat when it comes out of the machine. It makes it easier to compare. For most jobs and people it's enough to get the job done.l, as you said.

Thank you Bill. I have been wondering how the Neat was able to make 275 degree steam since un-pressurized water becomes steam at 212 degrees and not a degree less. It blew out hot air but I was able to keep my hand there for a few minutes. It has a great design and it very cute but ineffective. The Mcollua works like a champ, it actually heats up to over 200 degrees. I tested it on my thermometer and hand, it passed. I couldn't keep my hand there through burning it, and my thermometer confirmed that by showing me the 200 degree steam tem.

The Dupray Tosca and it’s quite heavy duty but still elegant. Probably overkill for most homeowners. However, I expect it to last for decades. But the price tag is steep, our link below will give you the current price minus 5% but I paid about $1k for it! Which is the most I’ve paid for any cleaning item. However we compared it to one that was more than double so at the time it seemed a lot more reasonable. They didn’t have the Neat then.

I much prefer the Neat. The attachments go on easier and it's better quality to me. However, we should do a comparison to be sure.I just got the Home a few months ago and I use the Neat more so that would be a good challenge. If you have the budget and want a tank of a steam cleaner, the Tosca is amazing (but heavier). It's so well built I think it'll last a lifetime. Gets hotter, holds more water and has more pressure...

Been using the Mccollluch 1385 which has a 64 ounce water tank. This thing is a beast for its class. Great on shower and regular walls. Great on porous tile in my kitchen and grout lines. So which do you think is better for deep cleaning, pressure or steam temp? I saw on the Dupray website that it advertises the steam gets up to 250 degrees but you say 290? Either way that’s still more than the Mcculloch. Just wondering which one actually cleans better.
@CleanFreakGermaphobe3 жыл бұрын
This is a great question. And to be honest, most are adequate. I have the $900 Dupray Tosca and only use it for heavy duty cleaning. But it depends on what purpose (sometimes higher pressure or temperature will damage surfaces and both models are adequate). I didn't get any better cleaning on tough grease on an oven from the Tosca than my Neat steam cleaner. But I expect the Tosca to last for decades. And the steam is dryer.

@@CleanFreakGermaphobe thank you for the reply. My search for a steam cleaner originated from getting tired of using a regular mop to clean my floors, then later wetting a paper towel to clean something off the floor that spilled, just to find dirt was still coming up on my wet paper towel! So I decided I was done with traditional mopping and wanted to clean my floors with something that would truly work the first time! That being said, the floor mop attachment of the Mcculloch looks fantastic! But I’m hearing so much positive feedback on everything else the Neat does. I wish the Mcculloch’s floor mop came with the Neat! Basically I just want to verify that if I get the Mcculloch I won’t be selling myself short in other cleaning areas outside of the floors. Also, does Dupray sell upgraded floor mop attachments that work with the Neat? Or is the next model up in Dupray noticeably better?

I’ve had 2 Duprays for years now. I had to get one repaired within the first year. This was several years ago. If you’re using it on a lot of heavy messes or are harder on things then you may want to. But their products are solid and if there’s any issue it should show up in the first 2 years. I really should’ve mentioned the warranty, however we linked to it on Amazon and sometimes the policy is different. Since making this video, we’ve talked directly with them and link to their website.

I would get a carpet cleaner instead, like a Bissell or any on this bestsellers list amzn.to/3kzxndL (sponsored) depending on the size and how heavy duty you need. Steam cleaners work ok but because they use extreme heat, they can melt fabric if you get it too close. You can use a tool with a bonnet over it (like the Dupray triangle tool). But that's more to freshen things and disinfect, get out smells (yes, your furniture will get slightly damp and need to dry). A carpet cleaner is better for large areas and doesn't use heat to clean.

Thanks but I see people test these all the time. I've cleaned with so many brands. They just have to reach hot enough to go to steam and they clean great. Unless it's a very technical job and you need higher pressure and temperature, plus have the budget, this is more than good enough. I have a Tosca that was $900 and it sits downstairs most of the time because it's so heavy. I only pull it out for big jobs. I'm tempted to sell it. Once your house is clean it's all touching up. Rarely have big jobs unless I'm cleaning other people's home or doing a thorough deep clean.

@@TrueIronhorn You are right. It has been awhile but as I recall, the so called steam was still nothing more than water vapor although closer to 212 degrees. I remember that the vapor loses temperature quickly after leaving the tip of the nozzle but the machine did a fair job of loosening grime. Probably great for washing dishes but not a "magic" tool as advertised. You are probably a couple or more grand away from being able to easily de-grease a car engine.

can you do a Dupray Neat Vs Tosca review? Does more power = less cleaning time?
@CleanFreakGermaphobe2 жыл бұрын
I’ve thought of doing one for a while. Maybe it’s time to! I didn’t know if enough people compare them to make it worth it. But longer cleaning time on the Tosca since it holds more water. The Tosca is made of heavy duty steel so the longevity is longer but it’s heavy. You can drain water out the bottom to descale the boiler which helps it last longer. The attachments and mop are much much better on the Tosca (except the brushes are the same). You can clamp on a cloth and the mop head is larger. So I’d say about the same cleaning time just more power with the Tosca. So if you’re cleaning average messes it’s more than you need. If you have bigger jobs it’s nice to not have to wait for it to cool and refill as often. But the Tosca is expensive. I like how lightweight the Neat is and I don’t mop with it. Is much less expensive. Lighter. But it’s likely not going to last a lifetime like I expect my Tosca to. So it depends on your needs and budget. Hope that helps, off the top of my head…
