Great Video and Explanations both on the Put & Call sides. Many of us are heavily invested in The Wheel Strategy and participate weekly for profits so watching and learning for you has been so valuable and time well spent. I appreciate it when you take the time to give us a view into your mindset and the rationale as to why you make the moves you do. I don't panic when assigned stock I just plan my next moves over the weekend and be ready for the Market Bell on Monday to assess the positions/stock prices/premiums and then you have the confidence when you execute the wheel trade. @edwardrhoads72833 жыл бұрын
Something that has helped me. I have made a list of companies I like. For each I do my DD to determine what I think the company (not stock) is worth. Then I determine the most I would pay for the stock (I think Apple is worth $90 but I would not pay 90 because then I can't make money on it so I would be a buyer at 70). Granted a lot of the stocks on my list would not work for wheel because the option premiums suck. However it is a very good start.

Confusing and wrong to say things (around 20:30) like “if RIDE doesn’t go above 22.50 in the next few minutes, I’ll keep all my premium.” You’ll keep all your premium either way. If it goes above 22.50, what happens is your stock will be called away.

I just started the wheel as well with a smaller (20k in cash in a margin-) account, and within about half a month got over 900 USD in premium. I was also assigned AAPL and SOLO yesterday. AAPL with a strike of 125 and SOLO with a strike of 6.5. SOLO was the riskier play, that i got into first (due to the high premium) and has dropped much more than AAPL. Would I select SOLO again moving forward? Possibly not, but that was my first put i ever sold, and i was tempted by the high premiums. It was also only a half-sized-position for "testing the strategy". I now know that's there are more factors to consider, but that's an experience I just had to made for learning, and it's not that I'm unhappy having been assigned. Both still give me over 30% when selling calls on the weekly, so it's all "good, good, good". This was my first assignment and I am happy about that! Had two other CSP that hit 90% profit early, so I cashed out on those (and they would have gotten assigned too thanks to the big drops this week), but this way I only collected the premium and sold some more puts, with more favorable strike prices. Those have expiration dates on the 19th (they don't have weeklys), and both seem to do well at this point. It's too early to say if i will get assigned, but I hope so, as those are both stocks I am bullish on, in the long run.

So interesting Mark! So your strategy is to sell contracts 10 minutes before the market closes? To be sure not the stock reach dangerous level. When you sell, example 47 contracts, is it because you own 4700 stocks? Or just because of premium. Thank you for your answer

Sell more puts @ $10 to $12 and keep collecting money, if you get assigned, your dollar cost average will be lower, and we hope that WKHS stock price will go up, so we can sell the covered call for higher strike price. @@derpsnarf4052 when I bought it and did my first covered call, the stock was trending up and it was the same week that they were supposed to launch their spaceship. I was likely to be assigned as the stock at that point was above the strike point I picked but then it got cancelled at the last minute and then stock started to drop like a sack of wet potatoes. I still have been able to do covered calls and have lowered my cost basis to around $50 a share, but will use better data as you suggested and more caution in the future as I'm still in my infancy period of options trading.

Hello Markus, thank you for all you do, really enjoy your content. Question, why don’t you ever sell covered calls above your break even price instead of your assigned strike price? You’re still not losing money, as long you sell above your break even. I notice other people running the wheel strategy sell their covered calls above break even price . Break even price is defined as the strike minus the premium collected
@huinyavaina3 жыл бұрын
@@josephsaeteurn9158 quite the opposite, selling above break even gets you more. My guess is he's not using his premium to amortize his cost basis, instead he wires out realized gains and looks at his position as a new one agter every expiration

What does he mean keep the whole premium? A buy at a loss if it goes below strike?
@richardthorne28043 жыл бұрын
You keep the premium no matter what if you hold the stock through expiration. You actually lowered your cost if you happened to be assigned the stock. The way you have to look at this is selling options is similar to getting dividends on stocks except you receive income way more often and at a higher rates selling options. But there will be times you will have an unrealized loss in your portfolio just like that happens on stocks that pay dividends. This is an income strategy. Just sell puts on good companies that’s the key.
