For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

I've had an EGO string trimmer for 4 years and very rarely does the string load easily. Inserting in one hole does not guarantee that it will come out the other side as depicted in the video. Most often I wind up taking the head off and manually threading the line from one side to the other and then trying to get it put back together without the spring being mispositioned. And many times the string will not advance when there is sting left on the spool. Husband and I have argued multiple times over this and we have finally decided to purchase a new trimmer of another brand. BTW, we even found a video showing difficulties in loading the trimmer and possible causes and cures. Followed advice for solving the problem to no avail. Love my EGO mower and blower but the trimmer misses the mark.

Used the ST1511T for the first time. How would I rate it? Maybe a 6/10. It worked ‘ok’, and it may be that I was expecting something more. I’ve been using a B&D corded trimmer for over a decade (it finally just died), so it may be that I’m not used to how the Ego handles/runs for me. I tried it as an edger, but not impressed, and don’t know that I’ll do it again. Again, could be user error. Also took me a bit to figure out the right angle to hold the trimmer just to get it to trim around the yard. And the bump feed seemed to take more force than I thought it should have to extend more line (not sure what I was expecting). I can’t just push down, I have to strike it pretty robustly to get the string to feed. Makes me wonder how long it will last if that’s what it takes. After just finishing the front yard, the 2.5 Ah battery was pretty much done. Need to recharge for the backyard. Well, that’s my initial review. Hopefully it (or I) will improve over time.

Hi, You mentioned B&D trimmer. Have you ever used their 20 volt battery powered trimmer? I've got one and love it. It's light weight and the string is 100 times easier to change than the E-Go and last alot longer. Also, the battery is thin and lightweight and easy to change. I know you'd love it.

A few years back, I bought from Home Depot an EGO ST1521S. Had to return it for a replacement because the little green button on the bottom quit working whenever I needed to replace the string. The replacement worked well for a while, until that thread unit on the base developed a problem: the string couldn't travel all the way to the other exit hole, it got hung up near the middle. (I had to disassemble the thread unit and manually work it to the exit hole. Then snap the snaps back and press the auto threader. ) But then, during use the string kept spooling out and getting chopped off by the cutter blade and soon the spool was empty. I'm looking forward to dumping the thing. The ST1511T looks promising, but I don't need all the other stuff in the kit box. So what you're saying is, the ST1510T is the same trimmer minus the stuff I still have in the basement left over from my ailing ST1521S.

Considering buying this. I just cleared out my mother’s backyard that was overgrown with these thick weeds. Wonder how much power it has to handle that sort of thing. It is battery powered and typically gas powered trimmers would have more power. And also, you have the issue of the battery dying on you unless you have at least a charged replacement battery. But I love the auto loading feature on the string and not having to deal with gas, replacing oil, and doing yearly carburetor maintenance. So all those things do sell it better.

Would you recommend going with the ego string trimmer and blower combo, or dewalt. I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews about the dewalt only reason I’m considering it is because I’ve got dewalt power to old and batteries. Just trying to get away from my gas powered lawn equip.

Nice presentation. 🔥 A couple of days ago I bought a 40v hart trimmer combo from WM. Trimmer and blower. It was ok. I had trouble trying to fix the string on the trimmer. It was working but it made too much noise. I'm going to return it. 👉 I'm buying the Ego trimmer combo I found online and in LOWES. The funny thing is, I have an EGO Lawn Mower in my garage that hasn't failed me yet. Thanks for the info. Cordless all the way.

Great video....I am torn between WORX and EGO.....The convo kit with blower. Do you also like the mowers?? Would love your advice.

Worx is really in a different class - this is prosumer and EGO owns it

I like how easy it is to fix the string if it regresses into the spool. I had a brushless 40 volt Ryobi that was great UNTIL the string got stuck inside the spool.

Hi, I didn't hear if you gave the "all up" weight with a full load of stirng, or how long the tool is fully extended, or at its shortest, or how well it is balanced with the battery installed??? I guess I'll go watch it again and pay closer attention!!! Thanks!! Chas Orvis, PLAINVILLE, CT.

Just bought this trimmer.. it's a different model here in new Zealand and the UK..and Australia..we all get the 14inch.. not the 15 inch...but I must say the trigger is way better than the carbon fiber one that I have.. the variable speed is way easier to control..on both hi and low speed.. plus the trigger is stronger beefier...also I find that the arm rest on this st1400 much more comfortable than the one on the carbon fiber model.. it's also much cheaper..100 cheaper.. because not paying for that carbon fiber shaft...which I don't really need.
@Kitearmy2 жыл бұрын
interesting in the US they are the same price - stoked that you like it

@@Kitearmy $629 nz dollers for the carbon fiber with kit..$419 just for the tool.....the new 2021 st1401e.st ..which is the same as your st1511t..but it has 14inch head uses the same 2.4mm line low speed 3000 to 4500rpm high speed starts at 4500 through to 5800rpm so all is the same apart from 1 inch less cut.....price is $529 with kit and 319 tool only...comes with the 3rd gen batt in the kit version.

Looks like your amazon link goes to the wrong product? You are reviewing the 2021 aluminum model, but the link goes to older models (e.g., carbon with split shaft). Amazon likes to lump things together and then separate them later, so I'm guessing that's what happened here. Ego's description of their trimmers is very confusing, and I've spent hours trying to figure out which were older models and what features were improved upon. A video detailing the differences between their trimmers would be awesome! Also, how do the stand-alone trimmers compare to the multi-head trimmer?
@Kitearmy3 жыл бұрын
Yeah - I think the new string trimmer is sold out - that's why Amazon dropped it

Great video on this newer Ego trimmer. I have a couple of questions if you have time, is this the 2021 ST 1511T model and also can you tell me what the RPM is on the two separate speeds?
@Kitearmy3 жыл бұрын
Sorry I don't know the speeds - lots of power though
@99SVTBolt3 жыл бұрын

Was deciding between this and milwaukee and came across your videos comparing the two. Good thing I kept searching your videos otherwise I would've missed that ego came out with a new model. My question is what's the difference between the ST1511T and ST1521S? At a glance I just notice that one is carbon fiber and the other is aluminum.

the aluminum has the telescoping feature and new handle

Currently have a ryobi 18v little trimmer. Has 1 single string that’s good for grass only. I have a small yard so it’s fine and does well on chain link fence which is the main point. How does the Ego do along chain link fences? I’ve had other brands that when I accidentally hit the links the string wants to grab the fence and need a death grip on the trimmer.
@Kitearmy2 жыл бұрын
yeah trimmers will do that - this is no exception
