The person I am buying it for is about 5’5”. The length of the product is listed as 64.9 inches on the carbon fiber as well as on the telescopic adjustable 1511. I’m wondering if the adjustment on the 1511 makes it longer than 64.9 inches or shorter. If the shortest length you can make it is the same as the fixed length of the carbon fiber I would like to buy the carbon fiber. Can anyone here answer that for me?

Some suggestions for minimising or eliminating the line trimmer cutting out if that is an issue ... -A Line Trimmer NOT a lawn mower. Use the right tool for the job and you will rarely have any problems. -Keep the electrical contacts between the battery and the device clean. Use isopropyl alcohol to keep the contacts on the device in brand new condition. Use compressed air to keep the contacts on the battery clean. -Make sure that that the battery is tightly coupled to the trimmer at all times. -With the dual speed unit, try to use it as much as possible on the low speed setting. Added benefit is longer battery life. -Always use the correct gauge of trimmer line. Using thicker line than specified by the manufacturer will lead to premature failure of the unit. -When using the trimmer without a guard - not advisable but many do it - keep the length of the line to no more than the maxiumum length specified by the manufacturer. Should not be an issue if you always have the guard installed. -Don't run the trimmer at full speed for several minutes at a time - especially in hotter conditions. Added benefit here is that it will extend the life of the trimmer motor.

10:40 If trimmer repeatedly shuts off after a few seconds during use, your string is too long. Trim (or reel) your line to an 8-inch limit on each side of the trimmer head and it will run continuously again! 👍😁👍

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Your review was awesome! Even though this is over 2 years old everything still applies and DEFINATELY simplified things as I was so confused looking at all the different models. I’ve had the carbon fiber trimmer for a couple years now and zero issues here either. That Power Load feature is so convenient, it completely removes one of the biggest lawn headaches we suffered with for years. I will probably buy the power head in the future when I’m ready to replace my edger
@Brettsgrasscapades3 жыл бұрын
100% agree. Every time I ran out of string prior to using the power head units I legitimately thought about getting rid of it so I didn't have to restring it haha.
@Mowssouri2 жыл бұрын
Heads Up!! You talked about the Carbon Fiber model power kept dying and you just had to stop and restart. I tech these all day long and here in lies the issue. When you run any stick trimmer without a guard and the string length is too long it stresses the gear box on the trimmer, thus throwing default codes back to the head unit and will shut off the machine. This stress also can happen on a gas model, however, the gas engine can compensate for power. Technically running your Ego trimmer without a head guard voids your warranty on your machine.

My old B&D blower finally bit the dust yesterday. I had pretty much decided on Ego for a new blower & trimmer, and your video gave me a much needed education. I am vertically challenged and being able to adjust the length and other features of the ST1511T will suit me well. I was planning on buying the 615 blower, but when I went to Lowes, they only had the 650 in stock. Of course I bought it. But they did not have the ST1511T trimmer there, so I had to order it online. They had the blower & trimmer sold together, but it was not the right trimmer. The upside is the 650 blower comes with the 5 amp battery. Whoa, this thing is not a toy! It took about 20 minutes for the battery to finish charging and I brought it outside to clean up what was left from yesterday. This thing is so strong, it scared my dogs, lol. It took no time at all to clean up the sidewalk, street in front of my house and my patio. I can't wait to get the trimmer to see what it can do. With buying separate units, I will have two batteries, one 5 amp & on 2.5 amp. Thanks to your video, I knew what the difference was in the units, and I am confident I will have the right trimmer for me.

Thank you for a nice review of the trimmers. I have the carbon fiber and the power head/edger unit, and I am thrilled with them both. I have had the edger motor stop if I push the edger forward too quickly and the torque load on the motor is too great. The motors probably stopped for you on the trimmers because you don’t have the safety shield/cutter on your unit, so your string was probably longer than the trimmer was designed. It is possible this puts an additional torque load on the trimmer, causing it to stop.

@karmicselling4252 Жыл бұрын
You do not need to use EGO branded trimmer line. However, make sure that any trimmer line you do use is fresh line. There are plenty of videos here that will explain how to freshen up trimmer line. I keep my trimmer line permanently immersed in water and get a lot more "mileage" out of it. I buy the EGO line in a bulk reel, cut it up into 4 metre odd lengths and store it in a bucket of water. I store mine in an Esky cooler. I've found that if you store the reel of trimmer line in its packaging it quickly becomes brittle and you go through a lot of it quickly. It gets pretty hot where I am If you must store it in its packet for any period of time (more than a few weeks), just soak a fresh length of line for 24 hours before you put it in the line trimmer.

After many years of faithful service, my Echo 225 has reached the end of it's life I think. Now in my mid 70's, jerking starting cords isn't much of an option any more, so I am in the process of converting my tools to battery. I already have EGO chainsaw and leaf blower and love them both, so I'm now in the market for a string trimmer and after that a push mower. Thanks for review.

I love when you're showing how to edge with the 1511 and saying "a whole lot more comfortable.." and it looks like the exact opposite of my definition of comfort. How much adjustment does the 1511 HAVE, though? You mentioned 2-3" but I've also read elsewhere it's about 12". Which is it?

Does Ego make a split shaft trimmer you can just rotate the shaft and go from trimming to edging mode?

Which model do you prefer for the Idech rotary scissors? Got the Idech for Christmas and looking to change from my Stihl gas trimmer to battery for this season
@Brettsgrasscapades2 жыл бұрын
The only one that will allow for it to be used will be the attachment capable one. You need it to have a drive shaft and that's the only ego model that has one.
