Love your videos! So helpful and easy to understand. I have a question about MICs. I have a yeti usb mic and bought a scarlet focus 212 audio interface. Is it a bad idea to connect (get the adapter cable) to hook the yeti usb mic to the focus rite? I heard it degrades the sound? And/Or do I just connect it to my computer; if so what the heck did I buy the audio interface for? LOL I’m a beginner singer and want to start recording for KZbin covers.

Hello! I'm looking for headphones to master, mix, produce trap/ryb/experimental/dubstep and occasionally record, but if they don't give good results I have others. I do not have acoustic treatment to isolate. I'm between the Sennheiser 560s or 599, AKG 702, ATH m40x, Beyerdynamic 770. Which one do you recommend? It may also be one you haven't mentioned.

Hello there, thank you so much for your contribution! You are very knowledgeable and I have more since I subscribed to your channel, than in an eternity. I am a beginner and would love to set up a budget home recording studio with some decent quality. I currently own a Yamaha clavinova csp 170, a M1 Macbook pro, garage band and a trial logic pro. I would be very thankful if you could guide me on what could I get in order to connect my digital piano to the DAW, the rests of the items and what items I should buy to get going. Thank you so much

Could you please check out and review the Rode NTH-100 for sound, frequency response and recording-monitoring pov. There’s sufficient hype for looks and build quality.

Just a great and helpful review. Like others, I'm a closed-back guy but this video is making me consider buying a pair of open-back phones for mixing. Thank you for posting!

Great video and useful information. You should also talk about the high impedance of some headphones you mentioned because they probably need a headphone amp. Personally I wouldn't recommend the Ath-M50 for the studio, the sound is not balanced.

Fantastic video and exactly what i was looking for. I just started recording at home while in a band for 15 years now. I was afraid, that the bleed in from my headphones (beyerdynamic 770 pro) ist mainly a bad thing. But i know now that it is a common thing and is more of a backing track, right? Makes sense to me because it is almost impossible to not crank up the headphones for recording vocals on heavy music. So thank you.

Excellent video. I am looking for a good and affordable headphone for playing along and recording videos for collaborations. I play Celtic dance tunes on the acoustic guitar. Are those Marshall Major ii or iii OK for the job? Or maybe a Pioneer or Yamaha? AKG? Samson? Bellow 75 euros?

This is great insight! I just bought a USB microphone to record without an interface. I have my eyes on Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 35 ohms and the 80 ohms. I only have a MacBook to connect my gear into, as well as the microphone. Which headphones would you recommend?
@blakeb81393 жыл бұрын
Definitely the 35 ohms. Anything else would be to high without an interface. You could also just get a cheap focusrite interface or something and a mic with xlr instead of usb

Hi, Thanks for your content I use regularly as reference. Could you explain more in detail the choice of headphone and amplifiers based on impedance. I cannot chose between the different versions of the dt770 pro (32, 80 and 250 ohm). I'd buy the mackie HM-4. What do you think about it ?
@WhyName3 жыл бұрын
The more resistance (ohms) headphones have, the more power it takes to get sound out of them, all other things being equal. If you are using a pc or phone as audio source you will likely want something with lower resistance, or get an amplifier.

Have always used closed back headphones but your vlog has got me interested in the open back now. Would there be any cons when recording two singers at same time with one wearing closed hp’s and the other open, besides what you listed? Also, great video btw.

Can the headphones be used through an audio interface as an in ear monitor?
@RudalPL3 жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as you will enable Direct Monitoring function in your interface.

I mix with M-Audio monitors and two different headphones, Sennheiser HD-201 for the highs and Tascam TH-02 for the lows and overall-ness. Both cheap headphones and cheap monitors but you don't have to spend an arm and a leg....which I don't know how a person could spend an arm and a leg except maybe after they died and they had previously arranged a pre-payment to an arm and leg lab I guess, I dunno....why are you asking me? SHEESH!!! 8^P

I would never mix in headphones unless I had to. I imagine like guitars and amps the best pairs of studio headphones were made many years ago.. . On the point of bleed from speakers when recoding, there are times when it is desirable. There is reference to tapping your foot etc here,totally true- creaky headphones are the worst!!
