I bought this a couple years ago. I have other sharpening systems by work sharp, but for the convenience, you can sharpen, hone, and strop all in one little thing. I’ve yet to see anything as nice as this for $35.

I like that design and I see others like using it. You don’t need to use much pressure on a diamond hone, much less than you would use for a stone or ceramic surface.

I have one of those in my top kitchen drawer and have done so for about 8 years. Those are so easy to use. For outdoor knives, cleavers and butcher knifes, the guides work great, but for kitchen slicers you need to feel for the original angle on your knife. They will be a lot slighter angled. Use a ruby red eraser to scrub off the ceramics if they get loaded up.

Great review. Love those little sharpeners. Use it on my mora when it gets dull from carving vaguely spoon shaped objects.

I love my WorkSharp Field Sharpener. I use it for a lot of blades, and it's narrow enough to deal with recurve blades as well.

Hey Brother. I love my field sharpener. I bought mine at the end of 2015 and still haven't needed to get replacement parts for it. It's great for that quick touch up. Especially during hunting season.

I did but I cut it out because the video was getting too long. I figured since it passed the Redneck Sharp Test with such flying colors a paper cutting test was superfluous. (My big word for the day)

I got one dang near a decade ago maybe more but it’s awesome still works fine the plates broke in beautifully will need to put a new strop on soon

Man, I left my first field sharpener on an excavator at work awhile back & it was a major loss, lol. I bought a new one & plan on getting a second or possibly a 3rd to keep one in truck, one in go bag & one to just have around... I put a small ferro rod & a couple small items inside mine & put a lanyard on it with a couple knots to really help get a better grip on it when using it. That helps to give a much sturdier hold on it. Overall tho, I like it alot. I've got a ken onion belt sharpener & a Rock sharp precision sharpening system with all the diamond, ceramic & strop plates and several other sharpeners & sharpening systems but I found these past couple months, I just grab my field sharpener & it does about whatever I need to do. And does it pretty quick. Big 👍 !! Love the channel, boss... have fun with your field sharpener, lol. You'll be hitting every blade you got with it. It's good for the ol nerves...

You absolutely can replace the ceramic rod. There is a little pin by the red rotating knob, take a small nail and push it out. That will allow you to remove the ceramic rod.

I have a guided knife sharpening kit I keep in the workbench for new knives but after that all I use is a plain Arkansas stone , a 10x3 for the bench and a 6x2 for my bag and camping . I still have an old carborundum stone my dad got for me in the 60's when I was in the boy scouts to sharpen my pocket knife,still have that too.

That's a nice sharpener! I have the work shop with the little abrasive bands and it works really good. I've tried and used all kinds of sharpeners. Some are disappointing. I'll have to get one of these

I love the sharpener. What I do is hold the sharpener with the end on a table. The way I hold it is so that the top guide angle is 90 degrees to the table. This way you only have to be able to move the knife straight up and down. I have found this is the easiest way when I teach people how to use it. It takes the user error variable out of sharpening. You will notice the outside corners align for this method.
