The broadhead slots are for safely removing the broadheads from the arrow shaft for sharpening then re tightening the broadhead back on the arrow shaft.

Thanks for this video Jerred, i recently grabbed this very sharpener at a local store and up until now i had mixed thoughts on the thing. Sure i was getting better edges than i had been before that, but other people online n shit were saying how fantastic thier results were with the same object. Obviously i was doing something wrong. So i found and watched your video on this hand held sharpener and finally im getting some good edges! Im going to keep at it here and i know ill get better n better, thank you so much brother

I'm still not sure how you are actually supposed to use this to sharpen broadheads, but everything else on this system is super intuitive and easy to use. I love this field sharpener, and its actually good enough to function as an only sharpener if you are just wanting to maintain edc folders. As a backup and travel system, its fantastic. Worksharp is the best. Everything they make is good and priced so well, it's actually hard to believe.

Got a great edge on that system. I have all 3. That field sharpener. The one that will rock if you want it to. Also the Ken Onion with the blade grinder. Pretty much just use it on outdoor fixed blades, shears, loppers and some of my longer blades. It is always good watching you because sometimes I think I am not getting the burr should have had it by now then probably rush it. Now I know to just wait it will happen.
@NeevesKnives

Yeah they sent that as well, so im going to get to test the whole system which is amazing, but theres times im the same way and it takes a lot longer to get the burr than ive ever shown on video, but i just relax and tell myself im not in a race and im not pushing for time im pushing for a great edge and sometimes it takes time

Worksharp sent you guys some serious stuff! I'm jealous! Connie uses one of these at work, to help customers out, who ask. With the angle guide, she is able to actually use it quite well. Of course, I keep trying to ween her into free handing, but those training wheels are hard to remove.
@NeevesKnives
@NeevesKnives 4 жыл бұрын
Great analogy, and it actually works quite well the Ken onion works better than i woulda thought, im sure il just get better and better on it to, I mean its not like a freehand edge, but for people who like or dont mind factory edges its great, and for people that dont have the time or patience to learn, but like training wheels riding a bike without them is much much better. After im done if you want me to send it just say the word.

Why do I put scratches across the surface of my blade when I use that sharpening system??? And the handheld diamond sharpener that the diamond surfaces pull out of the handle and stick in the handle to use it too? I'm looking for someone to do a little something something to my Gail Bradley... take a little bit of the frame and scales down to get more access to the lockbar. I believe you have a video where you did the exact same thing. But yeah, I was wondering if you would be interested in doing three knives for me... a Hinderer Eklipse in Magnacut, the Gail Bradley in M4 of course and a St Nick's knives Manix 2 XL in 4V... I sent my Eklipse back to the factory and I wasn't impressed with the sharpening they did. At all!!!

Start on the other side next time to even it up. On some knifes it is easyer to remove the thumbstud first. I use mine a lot, works great on s90v and other hard stuff to. Top tip, you can put a pair of polishing films from a edge pro apex on the backside of your plates too ( you only have to shorten them a bit), i use a green and a yellow one.

Hello. I can't think of anyone better suited to review sharpening supplies. Just on the last video i noticed something you do that you must have talked about but that i missed. The angle of the blade to the stone! Not the angle of the edge but that what looks like a 45° angle of the blade to the stone. I know you showed the scratch pattern close up before but even then it didn't sink in as to why it was like that. I tried it and my knives just went from sharp to razor sharp. Thanks.
@NeevesKnives
@NeevesKnives 4 жыл бұрын
Yes Totally, your scratch pattern will always do better at an angle, factory edges are always straight up and down which works, but when its at an angle your grit is always going the direction your cutting wich makes for cleaner cuts

Not that it is very important, but a friend of mine has it and when I tested it, the 20° guide didn't seem to meet my bevel that was obtained with the 20° setting of the Spyderco's SHARPMAKER. When I placed my bevel flat to the stone ( with no shadows being cast) the angle of it seemed more acute than that of the FIELD SHARPENEE. Is it possible that the angles are a bit off? It looked to me that the 20° guide was set more to what it looked 25°. I think this is really extrange cause it's really easy for them to be accurate on the design, but... Perhaps my impression failed. I don't know.

Is enough to get a protractor for 99 cents and check the angle of the sharp maker wedge
@aznelite325
@aznelite325 4 жыл бұрын
One thing to consider is that the built-in guides technically base the edge angle off of the primary grind laying flat against them, not the true center axis of the blade. Because the Sharpmaker only contacts the edge and the user holds the knife vertical, the point of reference for setting an angle is different. The WS field sharpener's edge angle will depend on the knife's grind and stock thickness, regardless of if it's a true 20 deg.

@@NeevesKnives Sorry, sorry, sorry!!!🙏🙏🙏 My friend's sharpener is not the FIELD SHARPENER, is the GUIDED SHARPENING SYSTEM™ WITH PIVOT-RESPONSE™ with two possible angles 20º and 17º, also from WORK SHARP.
