these settings are great, but hardware and a monitor to go with it will help, if you got some shitty monitor and hardware, settings can only do so much. I noticed when I switched from my old BenQ XL2411 144hz to much new Asus monitor, the visuals and colours were so much better than on my old monitor it was like watching a stream, was so much clearer, I use to play on 100% DV, but gone down to 75, NVIDIA and Overlay filters play a big part as well.
@Muldeeer4 жыл бұрын
@@BoozySZN Unoptimized games demand very fast cpu and ram, in this case... Tarkov is pretty much the worst of all. When I played PUBG I thought its terribly optimized, but then I bought Tarkov, lol. The game is fantastic, but you need THE BEST (talking about single core performance on 4/6 cores) cpu and really fast ram, around 3400mhz or faster, preferably dual rank (not the same thing as dual channel) memory. Without that, it does not matter if you have a 2060 or a 2080Ti because you will be getting the same fps, often dipping below 60, especially using scopes, which makes aiming terrible. This applies to 1080p and 1440p as well. Overclocking is a must, not a recommendation here...if you want to get adequate minimum fps. On top of that, this game hates AMD cpus, including all Ryzens.
@Gambet4 жыл бұрын

@@Muldeeer I know that this comment is 3 months old but just to clarify i am pretty certain Tarkov is rather GPU heavy than RAM/CPU. I mean you surely need *enough* RAM but having 2400MhZ or 3600MhZ is not gonna change a ton. CPU is also an important role, for sure. But Tarkov is insanely GPU heavy.

I don't know if you're required to restart the game for some settings to change. I tried the HBAO settings, and I noticed almost no change in visuals, some area wen't a bit more bright on highest settings compared to 'off'. Also I noticed absolutely zero change in fps going from off to max.
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
@@kiiroMADE Yeah a few others are reporting differing results too. I looked into it a bit more and apparently the game does really weird things with resource handling. It puts some stuff on the CPU, and some on the GPU. Apparently if you set a certain setting to X, it will get pushed onto the GPU instead of the CPU, so if you have a really powerful CPU but a weaker GPU you might get better results setting certain things one way, but if you have a weak CPU but a powerful GPU you might get better results going the total opposite way. The weird thing is there's no consistency to it that I can see. People with far better rigs than me are reporting drastically worse results. Could be they have other issues going on with their computers, or it could be really weird stuff with the game. Hopefully as they optimize the game things will get more consistent and make sense, haha.

@@Gambet I rock on a Intel i7 7700K, Nvidia 1080ti 11GB & 32gb of ram. Going from 2.0 to 2.5 in the lod setting was a 20 fps difference. I couldn't really see any big difference of rocks and trees between these two settings, so I rooted for the 20 fps gain. 'Overall visibility' from 1500 -> 3000, no difference in fps at all for me on shoreline. Tried the 'SSR' setting as well, didn't see any difference in visuals and no difference in fps either, I left it off.
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
@@kiiroMADE Interesting. I've got the same processor, the non ti 1080, and 16 GB of RAM. Your TI might be picking up some of the slack there. One of the things I'm discovering talking to people here is how inconsistent the settings are across the board for people. Boosting certain settings forces your GPU to take over for your CPU in some instances, which might actually make higher settings result in better performance for some people, but not everyone. It's very strange! My computer's still pretty decent right now, but maybe in a year I'll make some upgrades and revisit this to see how that affects things. Thanks for the details though. That's really helpful, and anyone reading the comments down here might get a lot of extra information they'll find useful. Awesome!

Really the best guide out there. I've been messing with graphics myself a lot and I got the best results in terms of performance/visual quality with very similar settings you have. The only differences for me are TAA instead of FXAA because the grass is really ugly for me on FXAA, overall visibility on 1000 and shadow visibility on 60 so I don't get disturbed because shadows and far trees are clipping too obviously
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't disagree with anything you said. I too vastly prefer TAA visually, but it impacted my FPS enough that I decided it wasn't worth it. I think Visibility up to 1500 isn't too bad, though I recently dropped my FOV down to around 63 instead of the max of 75 and I've had less of the issues with distant objects popping into existence at the edges of my screen, so for now it seems okay. Some people have reported that boosting Shadow Quality to Ultra and overall Visibility to max of 3000 has actually increased their FPS. It doesn't seem consistent though, but it's something worth experimenting with. Anyway, glad it helped! If you come up with anything you wanna share, feel free to hop into my Discord channel and let us know your findings. A lot of people from this video have been joining lately and I'm sure they'd love to hear about this stuff!

@@Gambet yeah i have a 1080 graphics card and changing shadow quality from ultra to low - LOD from 1500 to 3000 doesn't affect my fps at all. On the other hand, i get significantly more fps from TAA to FXAA and keep my shadow and LOD higher. It seems to work a lot better this way. However, I have only tested this on customs ... what are your thoughts about this set up on other maps?
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
@@bowenzhang5137 My general philosophy with all things settings is that if you have to swap settings depending on map or other situations, it's probably more trouble than it's worth. So find something that's "generally" good for all situations so you don't have to fiddle. I figure once you set it up good once, you shouldn't have to do it again unless there's some kind of update or you get some better hardware. That said, I've found the sort of obvious stuff. The bigger the map, the worse performance. Generally speaking the further you can see the worse performance too, especially if there's a lot of stuff going on. This doesn't apply to Reserve though. On that map your framerate is gonna be all over the place and a lot of the times you're not going to understand why.

Still no matter what we change, random screen freezes when fighting or just before, and -20fps when scopeing wont go away until the devs do something about it. Game is very badly optimized
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's fair. I'm sure they'll do something about it eventually. I'm not a game dev, so I don't know what the process is, but from what I can tell they're treating this game more like a traditional Beta than say, a Steam Early Access title. They expect things to break, and they don't necessarily fix them right away unless it gets in the way of testing. Could be that big optimizations will continue to get rolled out slowly until they've added in all the content they want, and then worry about optimizations. Like, they might put in a bunch of work to optimize now, but then add in radiation zones or something else and suddenly a bunch of stuff breaks, and now they've got to go back through and redo a bunch of their optimizations again. Might just not be the best workflow. The game mostly works now, so they might be okay with that and keep things focused until later. Or maybe I'm being too optimistic. Time will tell!

What I do to avoid having to play on borderless is using the Steam Overlay, in order to use it with Tarkov you have to disable ''Run as admin'' in both the launcher and the 2 main .exe files for the game (EscapeFromTarkov and EscapeFromTarkov_BE), then go on steam and add non-steam game and select the launcher (it has to be the launcher, otherwise it won't work). Now in the launcher go on Settings > When I launch the Game: > Exit the Launcher completely. With this method, your overlay will go from your launcher to the actual game, you can then use the steam overlay web browser to search for whatever you need, without having to alt tab, allowing you to know what's happening around you while you look at a map, for example.

Kinda the best Tarkov settings I found și far. I've been shuffling a lot my settings and couldn't find the right ones. This video helps me a lot. What do you think about anti aliasing setting? A friend of mine recommended me to set it to off(he said that this the most important think when it comes to survival games), the game looks sharper in a way but my brain needs to process more to see the enemies. I thinks it looks better with FXAA than off.
@Gambet4 жыл бұрын
Off is bad, you actually get better FPS with AA on in Tarkov. My personal experience is it's easiest to spot enemies with it set to FXAA, but the game looks better with TAA on. But there's a bigger FPS dip with TAA.

I’m so glad this was recommended! You’re very well spoken you should make a video on how to get that 200 fps specifically because me and a few of my friends were completely shocked to see around 80 FPS on a $2000 rig when we first bought the game
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
Well, I should point out I don't consistently get 200 FPS at all times on all maps or anything. Reserve for instance I can be looking out at a huge vista and get 200, and then turn around and look at a wall and suddenly have 50 FPS. It's super inconsistent, and Reserve just needs a lot of optimizing to be done. Even on smaller maps like Factory I wouldn't say I'm constantly getting 200 FPS. It bounces around from 100-200 depending on where I am and what's going on. I suspect eventually it'll get to the point where it runs smooth, but we're a long way away from that.

How are you getting on with the Sharpness? I've heard people saying it can cause a sort of sparkle around moving objects or pixel tearing similar to not having any AA? Hello, I liked the video, however, I would like to know if 2k vs 1080p makes a huge difference in spotting in this game( been thinkink about buying a monitor 2k 144hz) I would also like to know what gpu you are playing on, as well as your FOV setting. thank you
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
This is 100% anecdotal, and based only on my personal experience, but I have found upgrading from 1080p to 1440p has helped IMMENSELY in spotting enemies. I was doing 1080p as recently as a month ago, and I was utterly hopeless at spotting enemies. It was so bad that when in teams I would not only be the last guy to spot an enemy, but my friends would be shooting repeatedly back and forth and I still couldn't figure out where the enemy was. When I swapped to 1440p, I IMMEDIATELY saw the difference, and I would say I more often than not get the drop on my opponents, and it is very rare that someone takes a shot at me and I'm not able to spin on them and very quickly spot them. There are of course exceptions to this, but I can't understate how good this has been. I've been using different FOVs, but right now I'm using 63 and really digging it. Some people swear by 75 or GTFO, but personally I don't think a little extra peripheral vision is definitely worth shrinking my opponents in front of me down to 2 pixels. There's huge warping that occurs. Funny enough I'm making a video about FOV right now. Should be ready early next week. My GPU is a GTX 1080.

Some corrections: - *SSR* means *Screen Space Reflection,* doesn't add shadows, it adds reflection to water surface and pretty much nothing else. almost completely useless, disable it. - *Anisotropic Filtering* is important and VERY noticable. Without it textures seen at low angle get blurry with distance. Guess what, you'll be looking at GROUND texture streching in front of you at low angle. All the time. That's half of your screen filled with ugly blurry mess. AF makes those angled textures sharp and clear again, at barely any performance cost (maybe 1 fps). Rule of thumb for all games: always set AF to highest. Buuuuut it's true that enemies stand out more on blurry textures. So it's a matter of preference, better graphics or that extra little adventage.

Alt tabbing is instantaneous for me on fullscreen. Not sure is FSO disabled makes it better and not gonna test it now, should theoretically make it worse but lol windows is bugged af. Fxaa (as well as the other "AA" options) are not real AA but post process AA, it just makes things blurrier. You can get a similar effect and higher fps be turning off/lowering sharpening and turning PPAA off. Anisotropic (why can't anybody pronounce that word lol) filtering is one of the best things that ever happened in computer graphics and for me it's inconceivable to turn it off :D . Tarkov's setting is pretty low, probably around 4x by just looking at it, that's why it's not super noticeable to some. Incidentally 4x is the sweet spot for fps on source engine too.

So if turning off vsync in your nvidia control panel and turning on vsync in your game settings unlocks your fps, is there a reason you dont run vsync on in game?
@Gambet4 жыл бұрын
I do now. At the time of the recording I found it really annoying to stream in full screen mode because I couldn't easily alt tab, which when streaming sometimes you have to do, even in the middle of a game. I've mostly found a workaround now, so I run full screen with Vsync on all the time now.

Run fullscreen If you need to tab out the alt+enter and then alt+tab
@Gambet4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Alt-Tabbing works too, the issue is it's just slow. Borderless I can do it instantly and get into other things, with Full Screen you get a second of blinking screen before you can do anything else. It's just a pain when you need to be quick on it in the middle of a stream. But all that said, I'm learning to live with it, and I'm only doing Full Screen these days.

@@Gambet for simple people like me, i would rather watch a really long detailed video than someone trying to explain it. I am still new to the game and I've find dark rooms have this pixel blur. I've tried with vsync off and on. shadows low to medium setting. What does resampling do?
@Gambet4 жыл бұрын
@@tony1985montana My non-technical answer that is probably partially wrong is that Resampling upgrades or downgrades your image as if it were at a higher or lower pixel density. This can DRAMATICALLY affect both FPS and how good the game looks. If you increase it, it is going to TANK your FPS, but not make it all that much better, since you can't really get more pixels out of your monitor than it comes with. It might look slightly more crisp in exchange for half or more of your frames. If you go down, you might increase your FPS by a decent amount, but the game is going to look like absolute ass. My advice is to leave it at 1x and not touch it.

Try experimenting with boosting your shadows and view distance. I've heard anecdotes of people getting better FPS by pushing those settings to higher levels. Sometimes the game overloads your CPU if you go too low, and pushing those offloads some of the effort to the GPU, removing the bottleneck and giving you higher FPS. I can't guarantee this will work, as I got the best results with the settings I showed in the video. Let me know if this works for you.

@@Gambet so even if you had a 2080 ti for example this is still the best?
@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
@@kingmason100 So, best being somewhat subjective, I consider these settings to be a very good blend of keeping the game pretty, the FPS high, and the enemies as visible as possible. If you raise any of these settings, you might keep the FPS stable and high still, but you might darken the screen with extra shading and shadows for instance, making it a little harder to spot enemies. That said, if you don't have an issue spotting people, and want the game to look way better, feel free to experiment with boosting some stuff. I go over a few things that I really wish I could turn on cuz they just make the game look so much better, but I ultimately left them off for various reasons.

@@hicihobe250 I find your comments really strange, as most people concur that this game is very CPU / RAM hungry, but a lot less so on the GPU. This is what comes of a very badly optimised game, but I am surprised you are finding issues with GPU VRAM.

@Gambet5 жыл бұрын
With your beast of a rig you can definitely make the game prettier if you want, but you'll always get better framerate if you keep the graphics low. But more than that, keep in mind that turning certain settings on will make it harder to see enemies. I went through what each setting does in terms of both framerate drops and also making it harder to spot enemies. So if you don't mind it being harder to spot enemies, you can probably turn everything up to the max and still hit a decent framerate. Although I haven't been able to test it out myself.
