Back in Kanto so soon Mystic? Yeah we are, I done goofed on this team too. I put trade evolutions on here. So now I gotta create another remastered best team for Kanto except this time we are going back to Red and Blue. Last time, the team wasn’t all that bad but I think I can make the team better than it was. You guys don't like trade evolutions that's one of the main reasoning why I redo best teams in the first place. I think you guys get it that this point. But yeah Pokemon Red and Blue needs a best team remaster and so does Yellow which I will be doing separate from this one. Yellow’s remastered best team will probably be uploaded sometime later this month. I’ll keep you all posted on the community tab. Before I get into what this best team is going to be let me explain what it is, just in case we have some new audience members out there!

I think that is bc in gen one crits followed a positive correlation with speed. Also, if you crit the first time in a multi-hit move, the following hits will also be crits (gen 1 only). You put those two together and you have a nice strategy.

Razor Leaf ignores stat ups in generation 1 though, so it's pointless to have Growth in Venusaurs moveset! You're better off replacing growth with Body Slam as it gives him coverage and a 30% chance of paralysis! Toxic can be replaced with Sleep Powder as well as it can render his opponents usless while Leech Seed lowers their HP!
@CodyTheJester
@CodyTheJester 4 жыл бұрын
Sleep Powder is decent but doesn't have the accuracy that Toxic has. Plus, Toxic & Leech Seed get through walls better and remain after Venusaur falls.
@fsanmiguel666

Cali Jester having sleep powder on venusaur actually makes him a more defensive type of Pokemon though, as back in gen 1 it would take a whole turn for the opponent to wake up and would have to wait next turn to attack, and if you use body slam and it paralyzes them that same turn they woke up, then they'd be in a world of pain!
@CodyTheJester
@CodyTheJester 4 жыл бұрын
@@fsanmiguel666 But you are relying on Sleep Powder hitting, 75% accu, and THEN the 30% Para on Body Slam triggering. They are good tactics and I'm not doubting them but I see why Toxic is better. Body Slam is better though.

@@matthewhaffner4416 how exactly does ice type effectiveness prove that my comment about bug type effectiveness is wrong? Also, for Moltres and Charizard, that's because in Gen 1 fire doesn't resist ice. For Articuno, ice correctly deals normal damage but due to a bug, the game displays the text "super effective". The same goes for Golbat's bug "weakness". This is according to Bulbapedia, which I'm much more inclined to believe than a random youtube comment that has no logic behind it's reasoning.

I mean, crits in Gen 1 were determined by Speed (and Jolteon is one of the fastest 'Mons in the game) and the damage multi-hit moves were determined by the first hit, so if you get a crit in the first hit, it's like getting 2 - 5 crits in a row... thanks for that info in the "Broken Gen 1 moves" video, Mystic.

Pin Missile is still not a particularly happy choice, because of its fairly low BP and Jolteon's low attack, but due to lack of coverage, Pin Missile is still good on Jolteon to hit Grass types and some frail Psychic types like Alakazam hard.

gen 1 expert here and this is my review venusaur: definitely the best starter. It kinda sucks mid game but it destroys early and late game dugtrio: trust me use nidoking. It is way to broken. The fact that it evolves so early and thrash is so powerful, you won't even notice that you are using a neutral move against surge. It also gets so many great moves like thunderbolt and surf so it is so much better than dugtrio. Also, if you are using x items, x accuracy makes horn drill always hit. dodrio: definitely the best flyer. You could use fearow to destroy the early game bug catchers but after that, switch to dodrio jolteon: tbh, this pokemon is kinda overrated. You already have venusaur for water types and jynx for flying types. You can also teach thunderbolt to so many great pokemon and because jolteon can't do much besides that, you might as well use a pokemon like primeape that can do more snorlax: a really good pokemon. You should have mentioned how gen 1 hyper beam is busted how it doesn't need to recharge if it defeated another pokemon. It could really destroy trainers like Sabrina by itself jynx: very underrated. You should have mentioned how gen 1 blizzard has 90% accuracy making it very reliable. Overall, this team is really good

Mystic, you have no idea how right you are about the toxic/leech combo being amazing. Back in gen 1, there was an exploit in the coding of toxic where it made all after turn effect damage double, not just its own. This obviously extends to leech seed as well which doubles the recovery you get from it every turn as well. Couple that with the way Razor Leaf would have a 100% critical hit chance and in red and blue Venusaur isn’t just the best starter typing wise, it’s also got one of the most broken and exploitable move pools in the game considering it also gets body slam which paralyzes and inherently cuts your opponent’s crit chance by 3/4.

I’ve accumulated a bunch of game boy color’s and multiple cartridges for all 3, Red, Blue, and Yellow, I used one game just as a big save file, and Rare Candy/ TM/HM farm, I used another game to keep getting the 3 starter Pokemon, to the point I had 10 of each, used other games to get the version exclusions, and trade evolves, traded all those to one game cartridge, then started a new red, blue and yellow, using only the starters, or basically all the guys you shouldn’t have. It was a lot of work but it’s sweet seeing a Pokédex with only the guys you can never get, but none of the commons.

What I like to do with my Pokemon playthrough teams is making sure I have no overlapping types on my team. (For example, if I had a fire type, I won't have a second fire type; if I hade a normal type, I wouldn't have a second normal type, etc.)

I do that usually but in later gens I just happen to not care sometimes because the Pokemon just seem to fit together (or I make up a story for them being on my team). Like in Ultra Moon currently I have: Starmie (Water/Psychic) Toxapex (Water/Poison) and Salazzle (Fire/Poison)

I could be wrong, but, in gen 1, I'm pretty sure crits ignore buffs on BOTH sides and razor leaf (and slash) are bugged to where there is only a 1/255 chance to NOT crit. Basically, growth is worthless on venasaur and you might as well give it solar beam. Also, the toxic/leech seed combo is bugged, but in a good way. They stack with damage which is rediculous with toxic's increasing damage every turn which also increases the healing. Gotta love gen 1 I guess.

Anothger thing about pin missle is that in gen 1, bug is super effective against poison (For some reason). Meaning that it is quad effective against not only exeggutor, but the other grass/poison types. If it crits, it will most likely kill.

Poison mons aren't weak to bug types in RBY, but they don't resist bug moves. Since there's a lot of grass-poison mons, bug type moves are still super effective against them.

I think they should do away with trade evolutions or at least add a way to trade in game, this would be majorly beneficial to folks like me with no internet access nor many people with the games immediately available. My thought was maybe to add an npc towards the end of the game that will just activate the trade evolutions for some sort of item or just money
