As a game concept, the trainers you invite to hang out in your gym should screen out the weaker trainers. Like, you could really shoot yourself in the foot by inviting a strong trainer too early, who wouldn't let anyone below level 40 pass while your own team is in the 25-30 level range. It could also make THE MAIN PART OF THE GAME more fun, instead of pointlessly using Blisseys as punching bags.

I think there's real promise for a type of Pokemon game where you have to play the role of a gym leader, but you start out in a town on a low route. As a result, you have a level cap on how strong the team you bring to your gym battles can be and have to beat scrub trainers with a level 10 - 15 team of two - three pokemon. Outside of gym battles you can have your actual team of pokemon and you use those to go to regional ranking matches where you square off against other gym leaders to see where each of your gyms gets seeded. Higher seeds get to have stronger gym teams and start attracting gym trainers that weed out the plebs for you. Once you hit 1st seed, you can start going for the regional equivalent of the elite four, topping out at regional champion.
@DrakeLord213 Жыл бұрын
Honestly the fact that we don't have a game like this is a bit sad. Like we have the ranger games and other spin off titles to experience various other roles in the pokemon universe, so why not the ever present gym leader? I rather like the concept you thought up there, feels a lot like the progression of the standard pokemon game, but adjusted for the beurocracy of ascending ranks as a gym leader, A+ stuff, I would definitely play a game with those mechanics.

What would be cool and was hinted at in Pokémon Origin : gym leaders have different teams depending the amount of badges the challengers has. also, i dont know if levels actually exist in the pokemon universe. i mean its not like anyone levels up in the show, theres no restriction on only knowing 4 moves because pikachu knows about 50 and im pretty sure mewtwo just makes up his own attacks. i think the levels dont necessarily represent how strong someone is physically speaking but more like they represent your teamwork between trainer and pokemon and obviously your pokemons general fitness and experience. the difference is that they wouldnt need extra teams in the show if levels dont really exist. because the pokemon would all be relatively the same strength. thats why you could go to any gym in any order. so, i dont think levels are real, i think its just a mechanic that the video games use to help you visualize the concept of training.

@@KugroxFour moves are a thing in the anime and manga. There were outliers back in the day but there were giant Pokemon and weird stuff too. As for levels well there’s certainly disparities in strength, speed, toughness etc but levels as a whole aren’t technically a thing.

@@Kugrox Pokemon's levels are explicitly mentioned in the very first season of the anime. The point, however, was to introduce a character that was a know-it-all about pokemon fighting. It was just a one-time gimmick. Restrictions proper to the game aren't referenced in the series because what makes shonens fun is when fights look cool and are won because of astute and creative improvements that take the audience by surprise. When the improvements that allows to win the fight merely comes from training or deus ex machinas that make character A's number becoming higher than character B's and there is nothing more to it, it turns into Dragon Ball Z instead.

I'd make a few changes to the game. I'd make a system that level caps your Pokemon depending on the "rank" of the trainer (1-8 badges). I'd also make it to where certain pokemon with higher base stats become use-able at certain ranks in your gym. I'd grant multiple TM options to represent your gym if possible. Also, I'd make it to where you could qualify to be an elite four member or even a champion. I'd want to expand map design, so you can make the town your own theme. I'd also have it to where you can customize your gym a bit and have Jr Gym members that the trainers face (as a way to filter out weaker trainers). You'd get passive rep, and the way it would work is depending on the quality of your trainee their would be a certain percent chance they would auto complete a trainer for you.

Here's a couple of early game tips if you want to play this game yourself since there aren't really any guides or anything for it. 1: Be careful about which type you choose. While its definitely tempting to pick a notoriously powerful type like Dragon or Psychic, you gotta remember that the early games for those types even in normal pokemon games, can be a nightmare. Here, that choice is especially neutering because you are locked into those types, and the areas to catch more are out of your league at the beginning of the game (25-30 when you are still in the teens). 2: Be aware of a potential softlock early game. Catch rates are pretty low in this game, and money is hard to come-by until you start getting decent leveled trainers coming to your gym. If you are really unlucky and waste a bunch of pokeballs or you get beaten by overworld trainers/pokemon too much, you can basically make the game unbeatable. This can happen with any starting type, but is especially easy to do with types like Dragon, Psychic or Steel because it can be hard to find more pokemon of those types that you can actually beat or catch, as well as it being difficult to find off-type pokemon who can learn your gym's signature move. In general, be really careful picking a type that is weak to Dark type, since the first story battle in the game is a dude using a poochyena, and it can really suck trying to beat that thing if its immune to or taking very little damage, from your signature move. 3:If you solve the riddle inside of the Psychic cave and advance all the way to the end of it and get out, you will find a lone house with a woman in it. Answer her questions carefully as she will give you a starter pokemon from which ever generation you choose based on your answers to her questions. That being said, it can be a pain if you choose certain types, as those starters can't learn your gym's signature move so they aren't usable at all in the challenge. 4: Most Pokemon you can choose as your starter are not available in the overworld if you don't choose them. This sucks a lot as some of the starters are pretty good. This also directly nerfs some other types, for example, if you choose Dragon, you will never be able to get a Kingdra or if you choose psychic, you will never be able to get a Gardevoir. A Steel Gym can never have Lucario because Riolu is a Fighting starter, a Water Gym can't get Lapras because its an Ice Starter, so forth and so on. 5: The best type is probably Ground. All Ground starters are pretty good, except Diglett, and it gets one of the best moves in the series, Earthquake, as its signature that basically every half-way decent pokemon in the game can learn, which also allows you to use Torterra from the woman in Tip 3 for coverage against water types, not to mention there's basically no grass type enemies in the game in general. Also the "Ground Type Area" is really easy to find and fairly close to the main hub so you don't have to worry about fighting level 30s with your level 14 phanpy or Hippopoptas to catch new pokemon (a big problem with some other types as mentioned before). 6: Set up your gym as soon as possible. The game won't let you do your first gym fights until you have three team members, which is kinda dumb since we see actual gym leaders only using one or two pokemon all the time. The faster you do this, the faster you can do actual story stuff. Even once you do this, money can be really tight because enemy trainers will still only be like level 5 or 6 until you beat like 10-15 of them, so money is gonna be super tight. Unless your team is really underleveled you shouldn't have to worry too much about soft-locking yourself from not being able to catch more pokemon, but you do have to be careful to not lose too many times in a row or its a Game Over if you are too weak. Better to overlevel than under. Once the Blissey Lady shows up, you are officially past the hard part of the game (hard as in you can accidentally soft-lock yourself and not hard as in the trainers being strong, there's some pretty nasty trainers near the end of the story lol). 7: The person you choose to represent your gym does something different. For example, if you choose the Gym Girl, you get more reputation faster and also get a free gym trainer (the gym boy who has a crush on her) but you will face those "better" trainers (the ones who randomly have stronger pokemon) more often with her. The Gym Boy will give you lower reputation growth, and the professional Gym guy (the Fresh Water dude you see in the actual games) will give you balanced growth. Finally, this game can be kinda tedious and grindy I'm sad to say. Basically everything I said above can be avoided with enough grinding and overleveling once you have 3 pokemon.

I actually did a dragon play through and I didn’t lose once when I got to egar, I actually caught a Jangmo-o as my 3rd pokemon and a axew as my second which I got really lucky to catch, I started with Gible and then got a Agron and a dreepy I also used a tyranatar, because my Garchomp had a jolly nature and sand veil once I got the blissey trainer unlocked I just grinded that and grinded Tms you can buy trs from another city if you use the vacation function

Another cool concept for a Pokemon game! I feel like this coulda been done a lot better but, it's still pretty cool and you can see its a good starting point for what future romhacks/fangames could do with the concept

They should create a way to have champions in the pokemon game of Scarlet and Violet. Have a way for battles to commence and a new challenger arrives to take the throne. Have it for VGC and also Singles. A set time will arrive so the champion has to be ready to defend his or her crown. Arrange it in a way that it can be possible and they can enjoy an elite four format in the game. But among real life players.

This would drive me nuts. This is a survival game essentially (if you wanted to be an undefeated gym leader that is) and you are just thrown garbage evs the entire time despite having an excellent starter and great choices for mons. As I watch you get in around the late 40s with your team you kept, I can see you suffer from lack of attack because all the HP Evs plus the random ones you fought. Would be nice to choose what Blissey gives you.

You can change in every member of your team vs a single blissey and they all get 4-5 digit XP. Also 2x building 4 to 1x building five maxes out your daily earnings. Don't need any other building type.
