This tele is probably not the best guitar in the world but it's definitely my best guitar in the world. Haha!
I have played some great guitars, vintage and new and I feel very lucky to be able to say that.
Some of these were insanely good and some were just simply great.
There's only one guitar though, that doesn't have any flaws and does everything I need from an instrument: my Nr.1 guitar, my telecaster. Is it the best tele ever? For me it really is. :)

I remember back between the years 2004 through 2009. My first electric guitar was a Fernandes Nomad Deluxe. A lot of my friends kept getting on my ass to get rid of it and get a real guitar. So I went to a music store and started looking around.Spend 3 hours in the store looking for what would be the right guitar for me. I found this Squier Thin Line Telecaster for $350.00. Played it for over an hour. Loved this sound and bought it. 11 years later, it's still an awsome guitar. Soon after I bought the Tele, the Nomad went back to California where it belongs.

I have a few good guitars in my collection (Gibson Sg, Ibanez Jem, Jackson Randy Rhoads) but nothing comes close to my telecaster. I dont know why, maybe because the strings are connected through the body ? I would also say that the tele is the most versatile guitar. You can play every genre and it sounds great. Ok, i changed my bridge singlecoil but the vintage singlecoils couldn´t stand my 5150 :D

Personally, I don't care for relicing. I'm looking into having my DNA altered so as to eliminate sweat and body oils. Just think, NO MORE FINGERPRINTS ON THE GUITAR! I think you deserve that guitar and a tons of others because your playing is absolutely great. That Telecaster sounds awesome and I like the name of the owner on the metal plate. I just don't understand how come people like relic guitars. Horrible, honestly, because it's the owner that should relic the guitar using it. I have lots of guitars but I'm in love with my Music Man Sabre bass because I've played perhaps two hundred gigs with it. Now it's more (natural) relic than (an artificial) heavy relic and I remember where and when it got every sort of scratch: some are incredible and make me laugh (otherwise I should cry) because sometimes happen very, very strange things playing live music and taking the instrument around. It has a story now. And when I see an instrument with many scratches I ask because I'm curious: hey, tell me why it's so beaten up? The answer: ah, no, it's a just relic finish... So disappointing.

@Kev Musicluva. I have never been a fan of relics but there is one true thing about them ~ Because they are Custom Shop made, they are some of the very best instruments Fender builds. I have guitars with thousands of live gigs on them and they look it, too. But as many say, those are all part of my story and those guitars’ journeys. I prefer that and most likely would not buy a relic’d guitar, especially new. But to each his own. It’s the yin and yang, always.

Do u have any suggestions for upgrades to a current Player Series Telecaster? I bought one off my friend and its been a great introduction to the Telecaster, but i want to upgrade the nut, upgrade the bridge to a brass saddle bridge, upgrade the pickups to something that has higher output, put locking tuners on it, and find someone to clean up the fret ends a bit. The factory did not do a good job on dressing the frets and cutting the nut, which are my only complaints with the guitar, but i still love it. I just want to improve upon it to make it my ultimate Tele instead of looking for a new one later down the road. The locking tuners and bridge im thinking about just buying the Fender brand and theres a Fender pre-slotted bone nut for the Tele im looking at, but as far as pickups i have no clue what to choose. I kinda want to try one of the Tele Lollar pickups, maybe the Royal T for the neck, i also like those Fender Nocaster pickups u have, they sound great, but not sure if i want to stay traditional in the bridge or try something crazy and try a Seymour Duncan single coil sized humbucker in the bridge just to experiment. Definitely have the Tele bug now though. It quickly became my default guitar.

Would love this to become a series. Always like hearing the stories behind gear. The one I want to hear most about is about the heavily modified Les Paul CM that made a few blink and you missed it appearances in this video. Would be nice to hear about the work you put into it and the challenges you faced. How you went about adding the pickguard and routing the new bridge pickup. And an honest opinion on if it was all worth it. Would have it been better just to grab an Epiphone "Old Glory" to get basically the same thing? Does the personalizing of it make it that much more meaningful or special to you? I guess the video kinda makes itself lol.

Hi Kris, I'm a litte curious today, as you mentioned Andi ... Just wanted to know, since you are in Germany for quite a while now, how do you think is your German? And how well does Andy speak German? I'm just curious, as I'm am working with some hungarian speaking Romanians and some Romanians who more or less kind of struggle to learn German. 1 of my bosses was raised trilingual. German speaking Romanian-Hungarian (He Identifies himself as Hungarian) till the end of Kindergarten, elementary school in Hungarian, "Abitur" in Romanian. That's why I am always interested in Learning the german Language by people from the Hungarian and Romanian region. Especially since I know, that Romanian is very similar to Italian (which would make it easier with German) but Hungarian, just like Finish, belongs to the Ugric branch of the Finno-Ugric languages within the Uralic language family and by this is kind of west-central Asian heritage :-)< I know, Andi does not qualify for that group, but I'm interesseted in his German abilities too... As the channels are all international (This one, Guitar Geek, all the Thomann channels), there are little to no hints about your and Andi's German abilities... Btw. I live about an hour away from Thomann (in Hersbruck)... maybe I find the time and money to take a visit in the next months. Are you always at the workbench "behind the scenes" or can you be found in the Guitar store too?

Hey Michael, it wasn’t Andy Ferris, but a german friend and colleague. :) His german is pretty damn good. Haha! My german is fluent and I don’t sound like a Hungarian bloke when I speak. Everyone thinks I’m from the UK or Denmark or something similar. I can say something in german in my next Comment Time video. That will be funny I think. Cheers

Thanks for this video! I have to confess that I'm not crazy about how the tele looks, and it was the looks that kept me indecisive with the tele for a while. BUT, it was the TONE of the tele and the variety of tones that could be coaxed out of it that kept bringing me back and finally convinced me to get one. Love your playing and the tones you bring out of your tele, as well as explaining all the cool features behind you tele!

Suddenly all my frets look dull .... new string on the way , new bass strings to replace the 😱20 year old ones on my Ibanez. Looks like I’ll probably be taking some of brightness out of the bass amp 😂. It just took a few hits with the solder iron to get its EMG’s back in working order so I’m excited to SLAPA dat Bass with a fresh set bridge cables 🤘🏽

I sometimes feel my tele bridge pickup, a no caster, sounds more like a P-90 than a classic tele bridge one. What I love is that I can get amazing overdriven and distortion sounds out of it. I sometimes even think about converting my tele into a Esquire.

Sure is a beauty kris. How do you compare it to the troublecaster? I would of thought the fender would have a better recording tone but imo nothing is like something you've put together yourself. I love buying cheap guitars to modify and generally just learn how to do things like setups and how to modify guitars. I got a stagg g300 for free a few days ago ,the gothic one. Basically an sg copy but as far as I know its Mahogany Body and neck! First thought was to put a bigsby on it. I don't have much money so I've gone for a copy and waiting on a roller bridge to arrive. I swear it's the troublecaster that put the idea in my head. Anyway yeah thanks again for being such an inspiration, genuinely feel more motivated to do things whether it's playing or modding things after watching your stuff. Aaaand when I get stuck more times than not you have videos explaining what I'm stuck with 😅 Hope you've had a good Christmas and have a great new year :)

Hey Jamie, thanks! Yeah, this guitar is overall a much better guitar than the Troublecaster. Don’t get me wrong, both are great, it’s just that this one has that something that blows my mind every time I play it. Even after 6 years and thousands of hours of playing it. I’m talking about the neck, the playability, the stability, tone, weight, everything. It’s like heaven on earth. 😆 I love tweaking and building guitars a lot so I’ll keep on doing it. This fact doesn’t take away my motivation at all. It’s cool actually: seeing that there are perfect guitars and there are others that have to be made perfect. 💪

Japanese Telecasters, and their guitars in ganeral, are much better than Mexican and even U.S guitars. Their attention to detail is second to none. I've over a dozen different name brands from Japan and they're all tip top. I recently purchased a 1991 Fender Telecaster for 560 au and a 1979 Greco 'Super Sounds' Stratocaster for 670au. Both of these new acquisitions are "relicked" the proper way - through much playing, without being beaten up and wrecked. Try the Japanese offerings, Greco, Fender, Burny, Ibanez, older Epiphones and Tokais, and Yamahas etc. You won't be disappointed. They're just great instruments.

I Still don't really get the point of relic'd guitars. If they're usually done on thin nitro finishes then presumably your natural playing would have made that guitar look relic'd within a very short space of time anyway. On Kris' tele the most notable bits of wear are due to his playing, so what was the point of relicing it when his own playing creates much more noticeable wear within the space of a few short years? If it took a ridiculously long amount of time for one of these guitars to start looking like a relic then I might see the point of it, but this does not seem to be the case.

Love your vids. Question; Tele is my #1 guitar. Love your vid on Thomann. Debating modulation software or are you more of a amp/pedals guy? And if you are are ... do you like still the REV V 20 watt. Or would you recommend something else. Love all the sounds that you get out of a tele. I want to play diff. music. Thoughts ideas ? My budget can be 500 -15oo US dollars. thx !

Hey, 9,5” on my tele. I’m know that you can order all kinds of radius, but to be honest this 9,5 feels modern enough to play more challenging stuff with it. If you go flatter it might not feel like a Fender anymore. Cheers

Hi Kris - I am proud to support your channel. Don't let the other people that make strange/weird comments deter you. (Saw that under your Q&A people) I wanted to share with you something I thought you would like; I know have two Fender Telecasters. The first one I bought in 2020 - it is the Mod Shop (not custom shop) that you can order different colors -It is in mystic seafoam green. The latest one I bought for my birthday - It is the Performer Series, now limited colors I bought the Classic White Telecaster (looks like a hint of yellow to me) I love them and also, they have the three-barrel bridge - it is really nice. I do have other guitars Gibson's, Yamaha, etc. but I liked the Telecaster so much I thought it was time for another birthday present - although GAS can be bad for musicians - LOL but we love them. Thanks again Kris.

I have the mexican baja tele. It is amazing, but there are a few downsides. Nut and bridge is too high. Neck pu is very thin. It just does not have that american pickup feel to it. They do sound very good, but it annouys me that they make slightly "worse" pickups on purpose. Also my hands are just too slim and long for the slim c neck
