Jewelry is tax free to import into Cayman. So generally they can sell it a little cheaper. That's why there is so much of it.

Only national museum and George Town shopping area are really in walking distance. There are also snorkeling activities and you can go on a glass bottom boat (all near the port), and seven mile beach probably needs a bus to get there in around 10 minutes. Places like stingray city and hell are north beyond the port (25 minute drive), and places like the botanical gardens, parrot sanctuary, and Pedro castle are all around 30-40 minute drive east.
