I took a 2 week trip through Croatia only a couple of weeks after you were there. All the hype is well deserved and I can’t wait to go back. There are several spots I know I still want to hit but didn’t have time, even after 2 weeks. Can’t believe you only had one day in Dubrovnik. A surprise gem was spending a day in Korcula. Great video series.

The whole town is just surreal and kinda feels like walking into a most beautiful museum you've ever been into. Oh yeah, and it's by the sea and the water is just crystal clear and very warm even now. I'm from Šibenik and as proud as we are on our seaside, coast line, history, fortresses etc, Dubrovnik just feels another level. Amazing place.. Lokrum island, check that out too.

Gareth, there is more to Cratia to see: the cherry and apricot harvests in the foothills away from the coast, and the other islands along the coast. Each is unique, a bike is perfect to explore an island. Sailing among the islands of Croatia. Forget the streets and cars, use a sailboat to travel the coast, so many islands. Each one has a small port of stone houses, cafes and restaurants steps from the beaches.. The islands are green, covered with trees, with pathways leading around the island,

The neighbouring country of Montenegro is a hidden jam! From the beautiful old towns within the Bay of Kotor like Perast, Kotor and Herceg Novi, to the glacial lakes in Mountain Durmitor and the deepest canyon in Europe, Tara, there is an adventure on every step of this small, yet extremely beautiful country! :)

Every person who entered Dubrovnik in the Middle Ages, when the city walls were being built, had to bring one stone. Only then could he enter the city. Everyone brought as much stone as they could carry. Strong people brought bigger stones and children brought smaller stones. :)

Seriously watching these Croatian videos and all your videos has me realizing that my twice a year (during the Spring & Summer) travel vacations are just not enough. I keep contemplating the thought of quitting my 9-5 job and just traveling (because I am just at my happiest when traveling and I get in a weird depressed stasis when I go back to work), though I know thats not a reality for me cause of money alone but I really want to hit up all the National Parks in the U.S. as I've only been to a handful and theres over 400 of them in the U.S. alone! And yes, I just finished watching your adventures in Yellowstone & Yosemite, two of which I still haven't been to and really want to go! I almost went to Yellowstone last year but derailed it because it was SO overcrowded and unpleasant and instead went to Utah and Arizona during a scorching first week of July but still worth it. And one of these days I'll make it out of the U.S. for the first time in my 30+ years on this earth!

A tip on hard to open jars: slightly heat up the entire outside rim of the lid with a flame from a lighter or gas stove, this will cause the lid to slightly expand and loosen up.

If a citizen of the Republic of Dubrovnik wanted to get married, he had to plant 80 olive trees. A committee would go out to the field, count the seedlings and sign his marriage license. There are documents in the city archive where some wanted to deceive the commission and so they paid a very high fine in silver and a ban on marriage for 5 years.
