As an 11-year old in 1973-74, my parents gave me the freedom to explore Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. We lived in Repulse Bay. Bruce Lee died the same year. I loved going into Wan Chai and taking the Star Ferry to Kowloon looking for back issues of Mad magazine. I also went to Stanley Market to look for cool toys made in Japan. I only had a problem one time - I was bitten by a dog protecting a building. It wasn't a stray. No rabies :).

When I was a child in the 80s I watched action movies filmed in Hong Kong. I was even obsessed with the ancient walled city of Kowloon, I know that many Hong Kongers still miss it. Since then, I wanna go. I'm not naive and I know that today's Hong Kong has nothing to do with the one I saw in those old movies, but It's a dream that I have pending and I hope to fulfill it someday. I just love that place ❤🇭🇰

Chimelong ocean kingdom doesn't look too far away from Macau. it looks like it would be good to visit. It is located in Zuhai on the mainland, but Australians are visa free now, so it would be easier to visit in my case
