Do you remember that scene in Pinocchio, when our favourite lying doll is convinced by honest John to take a vacation and then placed on a stage coach on its way to Pleasure Island where other misfit kids can do smoke cigars, drink and break things without any thought of consequences but are then turned into terrifying mini donkeys, the thought of which still sometime haunts my dreams by the way. Well, Hong Kong is Pleasure Island.

Holy fuck, this is just too well done it's a sin that it's not seen on TV too. By far leaps and bounds better than the previous Overnights in terms of production. Score is on point, and the writing, man the writing - impeccable. Best part? The ending. "...beckoning across the sea, of vivid recurring dream, a torrent of height and experiences. When you wake up in the middle of the night asking yourself if it was real." Trouble. The Overnight series is a hipper, younger, and more dapper "Parts Unknown" or "No Reservations." Thanks for your generosity, uploading 21 minutes of awesomeness via Overnight.

Hey Erwan, great video! We did Hong Kong in 2010, and saw waaaay more than what is featured here. We were staying in a hotel near Quarry Bay, and hardly spent any time there! We ventured off to the downtown area for dim sum, walked through the garment district, took the tram up to Victoria Peak, took a cable car ride to Ngong Ping Village and climbed the stairs of the Tian Tan Buddha, spent a day at Disneyland on Lantau Island, rode the subway so many times I forgot which way I was going sometimes, ate lots of pork, rice, chicken, and seafood, visited numerous shopping centres, saw lots of temples and burned incense and learned how to pray to the gods, walked to some far out restaurant and ate pigeon, and got hit on by the live entertainer (the guys were joking that she had the hots for me - but she was just being super-friendly), went to the race track and bet on the horses, strolled through the downtown core and took pictures of some *really* tall buildings, took the Macau Ferry over to Macau and did some gambling, went to the Zoo and Ocean Park... so much to do, so little time! For a kwai lo, I think I did pretty good! I loved Hong Kong and would like to go back some day!

I've lived here for over a year and this is a great representation of Hong Kong from my perspective. The underlying energy of the city, the tug of war between Chinese and Western cultures, and the great restaurants and bars specifically recommended in this video make Hong Kong truly an amazing place! Well done!

It's nice to hear an outsider's POV of what HK is like. Living here, and being caught up with routine work, we tend to forget how special this city is. Hope you can explore other parts of Kowloon and the outlying islands next time. There is a budding food scene and untapped gems in these areas.

After a summer spent in Hong Kong, I have never heard a better description of the city as those given in the Intro and the Outro of this episode. I lived in hong kong for a year, it definitely reminds me of nyc and Hawaii, fast-paced in the Central and Western Districts, but slower as you get away from Hong Kong Island. Its one of the few places that you get to enjoy both the city and its natural landmarks. An hour ride on the train will get you to the other side of the island with beaches and natural parks. AND THE FOOD IS AMAZING, ONCE YOU EAT IN HONG KONG, NOTHING WILL COMPARE TO THE FOOD IN HONG KONG. You can eat anything anytime and i miss it so much.

Thank you. Thank you so much for this Overnight show! This brings me so much memories of TLC's former travel shows that were highly entertaining and educational. This is exactly what I'm looking for in a Travel+Food show where the host takes us to places with him and we actually feel it and remember all the things he went to and we should go to. It's the delivery really. So thank you so much, Erwan for this wonderful treat! Your narration is absolutely amazing and full of knowledge and heart. You really take us on an adventure, in your adventure. Just please, please slow down a bit like a mili second on your narration to make me catch up with all the words more. Hehe. But nontheless, your show is amazing. I'm hooked up!
