Salem resident here. Come any time of the year, but not October! Long lines at attractions, restaurants, and even shops. Bumper to bumper traffic. We have plenty of Halloween even in April!

Do the leaves start changing colors before October? Because that’s one of the reasons I was planning a trip there this October. I’ve been wanting to take a trip there for years and it looks like a real possibility this fall.

I don't usually comment, but I have to note here that when you were giving facts about the Salem Witch Museum, you were showing footage of a different museum called the Witch History Museum. Both are well worth seeing in Salem, but the SALEM WITCH MUSEUM is the granddaddy of them all, and located in a huge Gothic church across from the Salem Commons. You did not have footage of that building, but showed the Witch History Museum instead. Don't mean to be critical, but if you are going to make a video specifically of the Best Things to Do in Salem, you should at least get your facts and footage correct. Salem is a Special Place, and I wish everybody a great visit when they go. You will love it there!
@aequitasvox24889 ай бұрын
You are definitely correct however the loving it part may be a person to person basis. I've been to salem multiple times and the visited the witch museum. for the new visitors : Personally I think it's over hyped. The first part of the tour you sit listening a recording watching statues and lighting effects. I won't give away the rest. I thought some other tours were better. just being honest to future visitors there are others that have the same view.

At 6:28, there is another instance where the commentary and the images do not match up. The narrator says it is a cemetery but it is not. It is the Witch Trials Memorial, and no "witches" are buried there. It is a memorial site next to the Charter Street cemetery.

proctors ledge, the trolley, the party boat and ferry should be included as well as other things like parks and get togethers like parades and fireworks, food stands etc. all in all good vid. If visiting you should research what you want to do and where to eat it'll help. I suggest one of your first outings should be the trolley. Usually the trolley is over looked. however you get to see the whole parameter of salem and historical sites. Other history besides witch hysteria is covered and the people running the trolley have a great sense of humor. Lastly you may get on or off the trolley as many times as desired on date of purchased ticket. If heading to wharf its quite a walk by foot.

At 3:34, you talk about the Salem Witch Museum but show footage of the Witch History Museum. The Witch Museum is on North Washington Square (Salem Common) while the Witch History Museum is on Essex Street, a 5-minute walk apart. Also, at 5:53, the year of the Witch Trials should be 1692.

Whatever you do, don't go to Salem in Late September and October. The place becomes a zoo full of traffic jams, overcrowded pedestrian areas, and all sorts of annoyances if you want to see any of it's sights. People flock to Salem during these months to celebrate Halloween, maybe catch a glimpse of Laurie Cabot, or see something spooky. Well Laurie Cabot is not known to walk around in public or have audiences of random strangers, and most of the businesses that cater to the gothy witchy crowds sell the same junk that you can get on Ebay, Etsy, or Amazon. But THANK YOU for having your video tell people about the ACTUAL historic things that are great to visit. All the Witchy stuff is mostly nonsense, and distracts from the real greatness of this town. The Peabody Essex Museum is definitely one of the first places you should go to.

Salem is so commercial. There are some interesting things to see there for sure but how the city has glorified those poor 19 people who were murdered back in 1692 (who were not witches btw) is shocking to say the least. One witchcraft shop after the next. The House of the Seven Gables and Maritime museum were the highlights for us.

Went here on school bus trips in the 1980s it was really lame. Much of the historical places are long gone. The place where some witches were hung is now a drug store parking lot.

You didn't go to any witch broom shops, where you can make your own witch broom or any other shops that would have been fascinating in this respect, you didn't show any goth local people walking by, this is the real stuff of Salem. This is what you will see there, not just buildings. You showed ONE grave of an accused "witch."

skip the witch museum & Satanic temple. Both are cheap & cheesy. You show too much trash in the cemetery. You didn't have to focus on soda cans. Yes I've been several times. You people don't know the true history of the horrible Catholic Church that burned people at the stake for so called being a witch. You think its ok to make a mockery of a the past and turn it into a tourist attraction? Enjoy yourselves
@adelem432 Жыл бұрын
Nobody was burned at the stake in America. That was a European thing. People in Salem at the time of the trials were not Catholic. Here we have a memorial to the victims dedicated on the 300th anniversary of the trials, and a newer memorial at Proctor’s Ledge, where hangings took place.
@aequitasvox2488 Жыл бұрын
Have you been to Salem? No? Then speak when you do your history or visit. A mockery, no most historical sites there are respected. If you did your research you'll find out it goes deeper than just the catholic church but protestant church and government too. Land ownership and distributing wealth of accused to accuser and gov. was given if accused as a witch and claimed guilty or innocent. Many pagans and practioners of witchcraft along with Christians live peaceful lives together in salem these days. It's worth the study before making such ignorant emotional based comments.
