Today, I'm sharing some of my FAVORITE thrift flip techniques for commonly found items at the thrift store like ceramic and glassware and how to make them look high end! I share some of my best tips on how to make these cheap items look more expensive with just some simple upgrades with baking soda paint to create a faux ceramic look, easy paint designs, terracotta spray paint, oven bake clay handles, and more!

You're so good at these DIYs. I tried to make a jewellery tray with polymer clay today and i thought i removed all the air bubbles, but when it baked so many came up. Also, it was all shiny on the bottom. 😪 You make it all look so easy though!

The candle idea is brilliant as do have a few, but the one I'd like to have a go at the most is the glass vase with those handles that you made from polymer clay, I've got some air drying clay so would have to glue on, my vase is the same colour as the rustolium spray you use, but a white/cream would look good I think. Got a new TV, so have watched you on that and it's much better, but dont know how to let you know I've watched you already on that....as you know I'm bit behind on technical stuff 😅🥰😍👍❤

Love this video! I have tried one of those techniques (since you taught me in a previous video) on a pink vase I thrifted. I painted it a cream color with baking soda paint and it was so easy and it turned that old, ugly vase from the 80s (it was marked on the bottom) into something cute and boho with some bunny tails coming out at the top.

If you use the soda and paint hack for vases for flowers, will the water affect the surface? I'm sort of assuming that the sealant you put on would keep it safe if it was splashed with water, but I'm hoping you can tell me if that works...

Yes, water will affect the baking paint! I would definitely suggest to seal it to avoid any damage!

For the first one, you could also cut the shapes out of tape and use that as a reverse stencil. A good hack for anyone who doesn't have as steady of a hand as Tina!:)

I have been saving wine bottles and funky shaped jars to try this technique. When I used baking soda it was blotchy and I wasn’t that impressed with it, unless I was doing it wrong. Could’ve been. I did try baking powder and I’m LOVING the way it turned out.

Polymer clay artist here... it doesn't dry. That 30 minutes left out, will do nothing. It won't harden. "Smoothing" it out doesn't do much either as you'll want to sand it after with 400grit.

Is there a danger of the glass vase breaking at 250 degrees in the oven?

I don’t believe so! You can usually bake things in glassware so it’s totally fine! I would def do research for higher temperatures however 🙏🏼

This is so good, what a classy look! I like to recycle plastic bottles and use them as planters because they are so extremely light that I can hang them without worries about the weight or the support that they may need. These techniques can make the plastic bottle hangers look totally different and super pretty! They will look as clay hangers while being super light recycled plastic. Love the video, thank you for the ideas!
