This scene is so devastating. Nic’s dad frustratingly trying to understand his son and help him is so sad and nic repeating “I’m so sorry for everything dad.” and feeling so helpless is so so sad. This movie is truly incredible and heartbreaking.

The frustration in the father’s voice breaks me. It’s showing that the breaking point is a clear line and wanting to stay with your son while also wanting to leave him at the worlds horrid hand is really eye opening. This father knew what was good for his son but physically couldn’t help him just by himself, and you can see that frustration and guilt building up over time, knowing that his son will always find comfort in the drugs and that there is always a possibility to turn back. My huge respects go to anyone who is recovering from an addiction of any kind- life is shitty but you’re doing sour best and I put all of my confidence in you❤

Absolutely love this movie, it hit home in so many ways. As a recovering drug addict, this very first scene is so relatable. I have an amazing family just like Nick does in this film, which just goes to show that drugs don't discriminate. Absolutely anyone can be dealt this hand in life, and I pray to God they're able to overcome and live in recovery.

My older brother went through this when I was younger, and I saw how my parents dealt with this. Steve Carrels' voice at 1:46 and how it cracks just seemed like it was the moment Dad realized he didn't have control anymore and that he was scared. I appreciate this scene

Timothee is an amazing actor, when he is acting it just feels so real! And sometimes I forget it’s acting. He is also really cute and I think he plays this role really well!! His dad tho, is still a great actor! He also makes it seem real and Again sometimes makes it feel like it’s not acting!! But I think the character he plays in this film (the dad) he needs to be less hard on his son and understand how addicting the substance is. And understand how he probably wants to stop but can’t!

A bit off topic but, I really hope Timothee Chalamet becomes Harry Osborn in the MCU. Since Harry battled drug addiction in the comics, that could transfer over to the MCU. Timothee's performance in Beautiful Boy is so genuine (as it has to be) that I know he'd be able to pull it off.

The best intercourse is a 200-250 dopamine points, methamphetamine is 900-1000. Dopamine plays key roles in motivation and reward and our brains were never supposed to have that much dopamine hence why it causes addiction as well as psychosis

I think Timothee's acting is overrated. He's beautiful and smart. And he is talented. I'm not sure film is his best venue. Maybe the stage, modelling for sure, rap? I don't know. The acting jobs are coming to him because they know he will pull in tons of money from all the girls and women who are crushing on him. He needs more depth in his acting. More maturity. Maybe it will come. I don't hate him, I like him, he is interesting and very bright. Just my opinion on his acting at this point.

@@roimel7524 Yeah. Thanks. I've heard other people say they don't think he's that good. To be honest, I have not seen him in a lot but I did see Call my by your name which is was good in but I didn't think good enough to get the Oscar nomination. And the other things I've seen are think are less good, even a little cringe. His family and his face have opened a lot of doors for him. anyway, whatever. He's making lots of money. good for him, I guess.
