there's pliers for this use for $30 though, instead of 300, if you're a shop this makes a lot of sense or if they could get them into the rentatools at auto stores but for most people not worth the investment unless making lines commercially.

Hey there and thanks for the comment :) Yup there are pliers, and if you are only doing it once then that would be the way to go. I'm always doing custom things, and this press will also force rubber over fittings, so it's very versatile and adaptable if you are doing a lot of custom work.

Thank you for the informative film. Can you use that tool to attach the nylon tubes to objects, or it is only for fittings? For example to the top of Fuel Pump Assembly? There are 3 tubes coming out, looks like not enough room to locate the tool, or you need to attach it to Fuel Pump Motor, if you want to replace just a motor, not the hole assembly. Will the tool work on that type of projects?

Good question, and I'm not sure. I have "jimmied" stuff around in it, but I'm not sure about a fuel pump as I would be worried the jaws might have to close too tight on the pump to prevent the pump from slipping when the line is pressed on. Definitely a handy tool but I doubt it would work on a fuel pump. Mind you unless you made up a plate out of still that would sit on the thing that slides back and forth, but instead of having jaws it would just be a flat piece of steel with a piece attached at a 90 degree angle. This way the back of the fuel pump could rest against it, as its being pressed forward. That might work. You gave me an idea......... Thanks for the comment :)

@@GarageKing Thank you for the replay. I did some research, and not much was found: no films on YT (some authors have their FP Assemblies without those 3 nylon lines at all, but on question, how they eventually attached them at some point, - no answers). Seller of the Koul Tool on Amazon wrote me that a special clamp could be used, I'm waiting on the replay about that clamp. I also sent the seller of Koul tool a letter w/pictures of my new FP Assembly w/that gap in the central tube (they requested to see, how to solve the problem). I'm kind of glad that received that somewhat defective item (if it is, maybe it is within the tolerance on that attachment) since learned a lot about nylon tubes connections w/fittings. Thank you again for showing that Koul tool, I plan to purchase it, at least in the future. I think it is something that every DIY mechanic should have. But that procedure - to put nylon lines on the plastic tubes of the top of FP Assembly - should be pretty common, that line can go damaged and needs a replacement. You don't want to buy the whole assembly bcs of that line.

@@olenaerhardt7725 Thanks for the follow up, and the staff at Koul Tools are great !! I have called them about a few things and they are really easy to speak to. I think an adaptor can be made to make that work, and it would probably be easy for them to make it. I'm thinking of making one just out of mild steel. The threads are in the tool so the steel plate only needs 4 holes and it can be bolted to the think that slides back and forth when you turn the screw. It will be interesting to see what type of clamp they suggest. I do think every DIY mechanic should have one of these things. It has come in handy so many times for me. Thanks again :)

@@GarageKing Thank you. Of course, if you want and can make one yourself it is a good deal, I just wanted to mention that the special attachment (or most likely clamp, how they wrote me on Amazon) should exist somewhere, maybe it is only at manufactures place and at dealers and Koul doesn't have that clamp (attachment or whatever it is). It also might be different for different cars since the distance between the lines might be different (my assumption, but I saw those tops even just w/one line coming out), unless it has so tiny jaws, that the clamp can fit in the very limited space, and you work on each line separately.

Hi, thanks for the vid. Does it do 45 degree elbow 8mm fuel line
@GarageKing
@GarageKing 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks for the comment, 45's are tough. I have done them but its not easy and you should heat the line a bit. There are so many different manufacturers of fittings so I just clamp them in as best I can. good thing is 8mm is workable. 10mm is really tough to do. Straight no problem, but the 45 is tough.

Not sure if this more of a general question or more for this tool. Can you use it to separate a connector from a hose? Or is cutting the hose the only way?
@GarageKing
@GarageKing Жыл бұрын
If you are using plastic sometimes I have been able to heat the end and pull them apart, but its hit and miss, 90% of the time you cut the hose, then you can get it off the connector and reuse the connector

What's the solution for bending/forming the nylon line without kinking? I've tried heat and other methods but they always kink if the bend is even close to tight. Trying to match/replace/repair an OEM nylon line without having to buy the whole run back to the tank. The connection at the fuel rail requires a mild S-bend over 6in and it just kinks no matter what.
@GarageKing
@GarageKing 6 ай бұрын
Hey there and thanks for the comment. It is very difficult if you want to try to form them. They kink super easy as you know and sometimes when you heat them, and then push the connector in you still get a kink. I have not found a good way to do it. A heat gun on and off and moving it slowly, maybe even a hair dryer. Its tempting to go fast but then the plastic gets too hot and it kinks. So far I have been able to do some bends, but never tried a S bend. I think that would be hard because once you are on the second portion of the S the heat might release the first part back to straight. There is no easy way for this, and that's why some replacement pieces come formed. When I have to get into tight places I transition to rubber with a connector.

if you turn the jaws on the hose clamp around180 degs you won't need to repostion the hose clamp to finish installation
@GarageKing
@GarageKing 2 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean about turning the jaws around 180 degrees, but the threaded rod in the tool is not threaded all the way up, so if you turn the jaws around they wind up being father apart. There is no way other way to get the clamps to push closer. This tool is great and I use it a lot, but I find I do have to maneuver on plastic fittings as they are difficult.

@@MegaMajormax Hey there, I don't know of any complete kits for 100. These thing are not cheap, doorman seems to be the main manufacturer. They make a complete big kit, amzn.to/43vlAkS but its not cheap, its like 300 mind you it comes with everything including the tool and hose. I find its just easier to order what you need like this amzn.to/3L1zvYJ which comes in packs of two.

$340 currently in 2022, for that price you shouldnt have to buy another adaptor kit or kits with it thats insane. I mean it does make it so you dont bust ur balls installing this shit but jeesh. I guess if you do it a lot it pays for itself but for a once in a while thing it really isnt worth it, great video though thank you

Thanks for the great comment. I didn’t realize how much they went up. It’s quite a versatile tool as you can pretty much adjust it for anything. The one thing I wish it did was close tighter. Not the clomping, but the slide when it pushes. Wish that went a little tighter. Thanks for the comment, and glad you enjoyed the video :)
