Best Touring Fairing for Harley Davidson Low Rider S (FXLRS)

I agree it’s the best fairing for the LRS. Way better than the old 1980 cop faring like the Monkees had in Jumanji. I generally like what you did with the fairing. But try this; put some rubber grommet spacers between the faring and the windshield. The bigger round the better. Maybe 3/8 or 1/2 of an inch thick for the front three with a smaller wedge for the back two. This should almost eliminate buffeting. The remaining buffeting would be from the air coming under the faring hitting the sides of the tank and coming up. This can also be eliminated. The airflow that comes under the windshield will eliminate the pressure. Not perfect but noticeably better. The over the tank buffeting can be resolved with some type of chin spoiler or air deflectors mounted to the forks. FWIW I have a Sport Glide with the factory faring that I added the 15 inch Gustafson windshield to. The vents did as I described in removing the pressure. I later added their lowers which removed the remaining tank buffering. Ideally to work optimally the top of the windshield should be the same height as the bottom your chin when riding. 22k miles on it now. In rain, 80 Mph Highway cruising, even high-speed blasts (literally 140) this has shown to be the buffeting solution and the best all around functioning setup.

Good info! I was thinking about cutting it down and adding a vent, but I ended up switching to an el Diablo fairing.

@@jeniusbiker Yeah you can cut vent holes in like Gustafson did some prefer the look of what I described. Both work. If the windshield tip is not to the bottom of your chin cutting it down will only direct more windshield air into your face/helmet.

I have the same faring on my 2011 FXDWG. I experienced many of the same problems. Went to the 14" windscreen which cut down most buffeting. Most of the time I run it without a windscreen just like you. Had to make spacers get the Headlight to properly lineup. Also ended up relocating my turn signals as well. For the audio I am running a sound digital 800.4 And 2 6.5" EMF swags. With a Memphis Audio Bluetooth controller. Nice video good looking bike.

I was contemplating cutting down the windscreen as we did on our friends TXR, but went with El Diablo fairing now. My buddy still has his installed so we might add some audio to it, thanks for that info!

@Jenius Biker Take your time if you decide to cut that windshield down. I attempted to cut my 16" windscreen down and it cracked midway through cutting. Took me forever to get a replacement from RWD. Let me know if you need any advice on the audio I tried a lot of different combinations.

That my friend, is the most comfortable seat you can buy for the Softail, the HD sundowner. I have friends who bought other “cool” seats to look cool, butt bought a sundowner for rides we go on.

Bagger? Hey Jenius where's ur footboards? :) I own a 2019 Sport Glide and went with the Memphis Shades Road Warrior fairing. It just pops off along with the bags so I can just ride NAKED anytime I want. The bike I mean... Even though I love the forward control foot pegs I installed footboards for the really long rides. Nice bike.
