Every time I use chalk paint i get uneven brush strokes and color. What am I doing wrong??

Do you know which brands you've used? I just did a side by side test of 13 brands, and some show many more brush strokes than others. I'll be posting the video this week! But, I will say chalk paint is never super smooth. But some brands are WAY smoother than others.
