Which Chalk Paint is the BEST? - I tested 13 different brands side by side

I found the best chalk paint for furniture in this side by side test of 13 of the most popular brands of chalk paint. The results surprised me!
I compared Annie Sloan, Behr chalk paint, Magnolia home chalk paint, Dixie Bell chalk mineral paint, Melange, Jolie, Waverly chalk paint, Rustoleum chalky paint and others!

I tested how well each paint applied to a headboard that I did not sand or prime and then looked at how easy they were to sand and how well they stood up to a scratch test.

I’ve only used Waverly and Folk Art. I prefer Waverly although their color catalog could be improved. I do love the amount of color choices with Folk Art.

Loved ur comparison video. Thank you. Maybe I bought bum batches of Waverly. But I found that it dragged majorly on bare wood. Brush strokes galore. I will not ever use chalk paint again. Esp. not Waverly. Price was cheap enough, however it ruined my $50 project.

I think you are 100% right on getting bad batches. Especially if it's been sitting on the shelf for a long time. I think I got a bad batch of Folk Art because it was awful. And you're also right on not picking chalk paint if you don't want brush strokes. No matter which paint there will be some (unless you spray it, but I'd rather use am all in one or alkyd for that purpose anyway!)

Great question! I actually have never seen or heard of DIY paint. It isn't sold anywhere near Chicago and it didn't come up when I searched different chalk paints online 🤷‍♀️

Diy is clay and chalk based paint, it would be best compared to other clay based paints, to be fair
