I use this rod for Crappie, White Bass, other panfish and Trout with the exact same reel. Phenomenal setup for my uses. Works like a dream. I use 6lb mono with 6lb Fluoro leader. Super sensitive, can't recommend it enough. The smaller ultralight is alright but its not great, ideal for bluegills and not much else but the light 7 footer is so versatile.

For the last few years I've been buying 3000 series Piscifun Viper reels and pairing them with Ugly Stik Elites and Okuma Celilos. I can't personally justify spending more than $40 on a piece of gear when it'll probably just end up broken from walking through the woods/wading etc.

I have actually never even seen recoil guides, that's something I only dreamed of. Somthing worth looking into

Found your channel looking for tips on a good trout fishing rod, haven’t been out fishing since 2012, and now decided to get back into it. Thank you for the information.

I have the 7 foot and love it. Paired it with the Abu Garcia Silvermax reel ... which was $30 so still $50 total.

I paid $40 dollars for an Abu Garcia reel years ago and they are amazing for the price.

I have the 4'6" with an Abu 500 size reel that is absurd, but works well enough as a leave-in-the-car/truck combo for goofing off between work and home. I also have the 7 foot Light 2 piece with a Daiwa Regal LT, and I really like that.

Would this rod be decent at throwing 1/32 oz jigs? I’m looking for something that would be more all around and don’t want to get an ultralight if a light power rod would suffice
@mikefishes62324 жыл бұрын
I thought the tip bend was light/med/heavy? Is that the backbone? So a moderate medium is probably not good at all then lol

Shimano sienna reels are brill for the money I bought the sedona and the sienna last year used them about the same amount of times which was heavily all season for trout and salmon the sedona was a smoother reel and felt a bit better but has totally seized the siennas are sturdier and still feels like new I landed a 12lb salmon on it no probs would defo recommend the sienna for price cant beat it.

Bought the 5ft one, rod tip broke before my first cast. The reel is nice though

How?
@mattreed7793 жыл бұрын
@@selamatsentosa1388 I literally just touched it and was looking at the eye on the tip and it broke off. It must've been defective. Its cheap enough I would buy another one but I haven't yet
@mattreed7793 жыл бұрын
@Vincent Nothstine just by touching the eye on the tip. Im assuming it was just defective. I would give it another chance though. Can't expect too much quality at that price point anyway. Just be very careful with it if you buy one
@Anthony_6268 ай бұрын
The tips on those rods are very brittle and prone to breaking if not really careful but for $20, you can't beat it!

The Shakespeare is a very good rod, but so are most Shakespeare rods. Honestly, I stip listening as soon as someone starts talking about sensitivity, and start laughing when they hang things from the end of rods. It's a sure sign of a fake.
@mainetroutwhisperer5 жыл бұрын
James Ritchie it’s a cheap unlabeled rod. The point is I wanted people to see the action compared to other rods that I use for trout.
