They're going with the movies that will draw the most people, unfortunately, and those tend to be the ones that appeal to the lowest common denominator if it isn't a part of a franchise like Marvel. They know the horror movie people are going to see what ever horror movies come out, and the action movies that copy off of John Wick are going to be popular as well, so they go with what will draw the most people. Everybody else has moved on from movies, as who wants to spend over 100 dollars for one movie for a family of 3 with snacks? That's what I spent when we went to see the new Ghostbusters (which, I will admit, was worth it), and that's not something you do very often anymore. 15 years ago, you could spend under 30, and there's no way these movies are worth 3 times as much to see as movies then.
