Beautiful. Even just the look of the tin is a work of art. I know it's just an Altoid Tin but the tube just goes well together.

What does "as space charge only" mean? That the tube is lit by a blue led and that it lends nothing to the overdrive or tone?

Excuse me but people can not easily believe without seeing inside the little miracle box.The easiest part is to place a blue led under the tube to glow without other stuff and this is exactly the last thing to had to put in a tube working project.

Unfortunately this will be very difficult, 12au7 is 9 pin double triode, 12v filament voltage. 6j1 is 7 pin pentode, 6.3v filament voltage! Schematic will be completely different . . .

No, 12AU7 will work only because of just 12VDC power supply and only this tube has "space charge" effect - working with that low plate voltage. I need your email address to send you the scheme if you are interested

It’s not, but this vacuum tube and some other tubes (12AT7..) work on the same way like normal “Space Charge” tubes with lower plate voltage - 12vdc and even lower!
