I've been riding a set of 38mm Super Team carbon wheels for about 5 or 6 years now and they are still very true, still look great and I've never had an issue with them. I've even commented on this channel that you should review their wheels, so I'm very happy to see that you now have. I paid less than $300 US when I bought these wheels on sale on Amazon, and the majority of their wheels are still less than $500 US. Why anyone would purposely spend so much more money on a set of wheels that aren't really any better is a question I can't answer, other than this sport catering to the elitist athlete who wants to impress their friends with how much they spend on their bike. I've also been using the Assioma power pedals for quite a few years and they are amazing as well. The whole point of cycling should be to find the best value so that the most people can afford to participate at whatever level they choose. You can build a very solid race bike for under $3000 including the wheels and everything else. Keep up the great work reviewing these quality Chinese bikes/wheels/parts. Not all of them are top quality, but many are and by you trying them first, we can make smarter buying decisions.

I also have the 38mm superteam wheels. I had several issues in the first 3,000 miles...spoke nipples started breaking on both wheels. I wound up using spokes from my old and barely used mavic Aksium wheels. I also had to replace the bearings in the rear hub in the rear hub. One of the bigger bearings had completely seized. I had read that bearing were a know issue. After that, I never had a problem.. I think I put 10 to 12 thousand miles on them to this point, but won't ride them any more due to brake track wearing thin. But for $300, they were great carbon wheels, especially for my 1st set.

I own an ENVE AR 4.5 SES wheel set and a Hunt 40 Carbon Aero Disc wheelset. The cost difference between the two wheel sets is approximately the same as your cost differences of your two wheelsets. The difference in performance between my two wheelsets is most notable when comparing the effects of winds at varying yaw angles. With the Enve wheels you can feel the wind pressure but they cut through this pressure with a controlled stability whereas with the Hunt wheels you feel more instability at the same speeds. Also the cost differential can be attributed to the better guarantee offered by the higher priced wheels such as Enve which has an unconditional replacement clause whenever one of its wheels is damaged. With the Hunt wheelset you only have a guarantee against manufacture defects. Granted you could still buy another 2 complete wheelsets with Hunt if you damaged your wheels so you would still be ahead in that respect. In retrospect I would still buy the Hunt wheelset vs the Enve as they are pretty much equal or surpass the Enve wheelset in all other aspects. (Weight, rolling resistance, aero effects and COST) Also when I purchased the Enve wheelset the Hunt wheelset had not yet been a proven and peloton test product. But now you see them in the TDF and coblestones of Paris-Roubaix

Both on 700x28c tires and the less expensive Notatec hubs. The fixie has about 3000 miles and 1500 miles on the road bike…. So far, no issues at all and both true! Hi Cam, test results, your experience sound encouraging. 1. Are these wheeels tubeless ready? 2. If positive would you switch to tubeless? 3. Do they arrive complete with ceramic bearings of Superteams’ production? 4. Have you had a chance to use their light inner tubes? How would you rate them vs. Pirelli’s light inner tubes? You’ve been doing great job. Caught up tp your channel just now. The video you share when you received a first mail from Merida manager after two years of knocking on other doors and being ignored (don’t we all know it?) is so emotinal. Funnily enough I am of very similar build to yours and on my own made decision to buy reacto 8000 at the beginning of the season. It proved to be a great decision. Even Reynolds AR58 wheelset turned out to cope with cross winds really well (unlike your experience). Keep fingers for you.

I ride SuperTeam wheels and they absolutely slap. They actually came in almost 100g UNDER the advertised weight (maybe that weight included the included skewers?) and have been flawless so far. Only paid $379 for them, although I wish I paid the extra to get the full carbon version w/ ceramic bearings. As someone who cant afford $3,000 wheels, they are an amazing option. That said, if you are a serious racer, the speed difference of the DT Swiss justifies the price. 3mph faster on just one decent is crazy. Now imagine the difference across a 100 mile race. It's likely minutes faster.

Thanks for the review. But there are certainly a few concerns that come with this wheelset. There are only 18 spokes of the 2:1 two-to-one spoke lacing pattern. Meaning... only 6 spokes on the non-drive side of the front wheel. Seriously this design is pushing the carbon spoke to “zone 5”. The horizontal Turning/ cutting tension will apply to the spoke when you brake. Usually on other wheelsets, it’s fine. But this one… 6 spokes😢😂 Also the inner hub tooth does not last that long…

What's the durability like though.... Would you ride them on Adelaide "roads"?

Roads around here are arguably harsher so yes. But I’ve only ridden them for six months.

Are these wheels the ones with the Kogel bearings? Or is that some other ones…

I heard that they are running a 10th anniversary special sale, and I kind of want to try Chinese wheels.🤔

Does seem competitive compared to Light Bicycle, etc. that they say "free shipping and all taxes covered". For me as a central European individual, the risk of ordering from china has never been worth it. 1000 usd for this or similar wheelsets with the risk of 19% vat being added by customs or just buy 404 firescrests for 1.350€ and have the crash replacement and much better resale value. Loads of wheels in the 1300-1500€ ballpark online here. Also the dt arc 1400 (with 240 instead of 180 hubs) available at 1500€. And if you need or want cheaper wheels, theres importers like Hunt or Leeze, etc.

Does it mean that Super Team will pay the VAT then? I am UK based and considering buying these buy dont want the VAT surprise... because then they are not worth the price.

Cam should look into the Chung Method. His "speed tests" are very inaccurate.
