Premiere Pro and DaVinci resolve are very hardware resource hungry, I’ve found that it’s necessary to operate on a very high end computer of which most are not affordable by your “home video” creator. Beginner’s will not be happy if they don’t have the hardware power to meet the needs of the Adobe Suite and DaVinci resolve, those programs will likely lag and/or crash constantly with a “consumer” level pc.

@@CleannMerc depends on your hardware specs...I run the programs off a laptop with 2 scratch drives, 32 GB of Ram, 8GB GPU, 2.8GHZ processor...if you have all that, it'll probably be ok. My scratch drives are 500 Gb each, all solid state

@@CleannMerc another thought. I also edit my vids on Lumfusion on IPad Air…does really well, can do 10 minute vids no issues and the app is fairly powerful and easy to use. The only thing is you should unload the videos and raw files off when your done or your memory loads up quick.

So many choices. I like Premier but the problem it's that it's CPU heavy and barely uses the GPU. Vegas is good too, a little bit more balance, and Resolve 16 is very well optimized as it splits the workload to the CPU and GPU well enough.

@@J3-2344 I guess for starters, Resolve is the best choice, free (lite version) and they do have layouts like Premier. I still use Resolve today, but most of my work is done in Premier Pro CC

filmora, in free version has a big watermark and normally exports videos very slowly

If you don't pay for Filmora you get a watermark on your work. I just downloaded it and it gave me that "warning". I don't think you mentioned that in this video.

@@Tyler-pr4di what is a watermark? On paper is a mark that's faint but if you hold it to the light it's very visible. I'm not sure if watermark is the right term for videos. But if you make a video using Filmora throughout your video it will have Filmora right in the middle of every frame. It's not bold letters it's pretty light but it's always there until you pay for the software. Another example is wedding photos. After a photographer takes the photos he/she can put a watermark (his or her company name across every picture). That way he/she can send the pictures to the married couple to get them approved and the couple can't print them off without paying. They technically could print them off but the photographers name will be in the center of every picture. Hope that helps.

It's free for anyone who isn't making movies for profit. You don't get all the options you get if you pay for it like different effects, sounds, etc. But it's free with no watermarks.

I'm far from a video editing expert, but I've tried using Premiere Pro and keep experiencing stability issues. It is also optimized for Intel-based systems and really shines with pro-level graphics cards (Quadro-series). Just look up "switched from Premiere Pro to DaVinci Resolve" and you'll see several examples of pros ditching Adobe. DaVinci also makes better use of non-Intel chips and balances GPU and CPU resources better than Premiere Pro. If you already subscribe to the full Adobe Suite and aren't running into stability issues, then you might as well stay with it since integration with the rest of the suite is probably the best overall feature compared to other options.

@@moonondp4173 In the 6 months, I've focused my attention on DaVinci Resolve and have have started teaching my daughters how to use it too so they can assist with light video production work. I have become proficient enough for my own needs, but no Hollywood film maker would ever hire me. I'm now looking at alternatives to Illustrator/Photoshop with the idea of getting off the Adobe Suite subscription habit.

Same. The gimmick that Adobe is the all one and only powerful software house needs to seriously go. Premiere is a great software don't get me wrong...but from the years I used it, it is so freaking unstable. If I just had a dollar for how many times that program crashed on me. And this is on multiple different devices, not just one. I'm glad it works for others, but definitely not for me.

So i live a life balanced between Vegas and Premier the former can be close to idiot proof and it's unbeatable for fast self-contained videos with basic video/audio effects (it does have stability issues and get into the habit of backing up every 15mins or so) but for more powerful projects i'll switch to Premier and it's buddy After Effects...it is harder work to master though not to mention bloody expensive

Trouble with Corel video software both VideoStudio & Pinnacle Studio is that if you need to transfer your programs to another computer they make it so hard that you have to contact support and prove your the "owner" even if you have the license key. Cyberlink PowerDirector lets you go to your account and deactivate your product and reactivate on another computer . No need to wait for support to get back to you in a couple of days.

I see in the Eula of some of the video editing tools that it is for private use only. So if I want to sell my created videos or put ads on them I would need a software that paid all the 3rd party licensences for you (e. g. mpeg).
