I run into this concert by chance (passing in front of Salle pleyel) and got a ticket. I was my first experience with Jessye ... and the beginning of my very first crush for an opera singer ... she was singing a lot in Paris and France at this time ... I found that this same concert had been filmed years later ... it is really unbelievable ... did you have a chance to attend her in a theater ?

Would have been great had she and Simon Estes performed this opera together. I heard Simon as the Dutchman in Berlin in the 90s at the Deutsche Oper, where Jessye had also performed extensively

This would have been a great role for Jessye Normal. This scena sits ideally for her voice. She has the right dramatic intensity. I heard her live in Les Troyens (Met debut role - Cassandre) and Sieglinde. A great artist. One of the greatest.
