Everyone seems to like the Blue Ember. The Blue definitely seems brighter, which I think some people experience as "clarity" but it feels like you lose a little low end because it's a small diaphragm mic. You can't really add that low end back in with EQ but with the AKG you always have the option of taking it out if you want that channel brighter. And if a person has a higher pitched voice the Blue might not work with them at all. I'd probably run the Blue through a warm vintage style pre and compressor to help thicken the mids a little if I was going to use that.

Awesome microphone review and test. The P120 definitely seem to have lower noise floor. I also love AT2020 and have been interested in getting it for some time. The sound/vocal test definitely helps greatly in making a decision.

Thank you. I agree. The AKG P120 also have extra control over the volume and roll off. I'm glad this video helped with your decision making process.

Man would you or anyone else you might recommend have a good video for beginners? Say, im a singer man and ive finally decided to do something. Try and make something happen. All i have is a really good pc. What else do i need? I want to maybe start recording some covers and my own songs. So idk where to go about anything the interface, proper beginner mic, software, etc.

Hey man I'm new to the whole microphone thing I'm just wondering what kind of microphone would you recommend for singing/acoustic guitar and also what kind of music software to record on??
@archiebeatz4 жыл бұрын
Either of these are fine for those applications. As far as DAW I would try out free softwares like Pro Tools First and Ableton lite.. If you have a mac garage band.

Are there any USB microphones for singing and rapping in the sub-$150 price range ? Would the AT2020 USB be my best bet ? (can’t afford an XLR mic with an interface unfortunately). Anyways, great video !
@archiebeatz4 жыл бұрын
The AT2020 USB would be the best option I. This price range. Thank you 🙏🏽

Blue Ember sounds great but might be unnatural for singing. I cant hear the low ends of a big black male voice anymore

personally i usually swing toward audio technica but i like the blue microphone best, i here more natural reverb and i dig it, not as big on the akg, sounds a little flat to me

hey man, quick question, what do you recommend for a trap metal sound? I mean like rap + singing + screaming
@archiebeatz4 жыл бұрын
The P120 would be nice. It's has a nice max spl. I hope this helps.

Because of this video I bought the usb version at2020 and it’s amazing the quality is 🔥 then about a week later I got the blue ember with a focusrite pre amp everything about the blue ember is professional quality. today I got my hands on the akg p120 for $55 bucks and the akg is an amazing microphone as well. But for me and my preference I’d have to side with the blue ember

I have the AT2020 USB version and I'm planning on upgrading to the XLR version of it for vocal recordings. The USB one doesn't sound as good as the XLR one... or my AT2020 is getting old after having it for 4 years
@paulstabin62333 жыл бұрын
Thank you, this really helps, as I am looking for a good mike in this price range. The AT sounded the most natural, the AKG a bit warmer and thicker, the Blue Ember very clear but the lack of bass does jump out. All very good, but for me the blue ember is a nonstarter, the Audio Technica and AKG are close, but would have liked if if you demoed the pan and the bass rolloff.
