This was on the money! I have been flirting with the idea of buying a 2nd hand HP Reverb G2, for use with PC VR, as my Quest 3 (using both cable and wireless) is just short of what I am looking for in terms of clarity. However, you managed to stop me heading down that particular dead end, so thanks for that! I'll persevere with tweaking the Quest 3, as it's very usable but the compression can be fairly noticeable at times. All in all, a very comprehensive review and comparison. Many thanks!

Really apprecaite the comment. I've really enjoyed using my Reverb G2 for the last few years, but it's starting to lose to the competition in terms of hardware, and the end of WMR is the killer blow. The clarity of the Reverbn G2 is still slightly better in the very center of the sweet spot, but the clarity drops off really badly. I think Quest 3 is a good choice for now, but I'll be watching new releases very closely over the next 12 months, as there's still enormous room for improvement.

I swapped from g2 to q3 while waiting for a pimax crystal light/somnium vr1 and it's a good upgrade IMO. I would NOT recommend going from q3 to g2

This was quite helpful! I have a quest 3 and i was super excited to try some sim racing in VR. the experience was incredible aside from one thing. when racing at high speed and trying to look far down a long stretch of track, i find the resolution just isnt very good and it gives me a headache. Which of these headsets would you recommend for sim racing?

It´s a decent fine headset but unfortunately now outdated with his specs. The best thing from this headset are the base stations. With those devices you will have the best Tracking system that exists so far. The controllers are also something special when it comes about creativity. I´m also using the base stations with the index controllers on my Varjo Aero headset. :)

I am surprised you did not mention the upcoming Quest 3S amongst the "most exciting new choices to come out", which supposedly has the electronics of the Quest3, in the body and lenses of the Quest2 and looks to be the best choice by far for anybody wishing to "try out VR". The Quest2 is then no longer a viable alternative and the Quest3 a more expensive choice with better lenses.

I´m actually surprised that you haven´t mentioned the PS VR 2 that has eye tracking support and an OLED panel. It will be soon ready for PCVR because it wasn´t very comercially successful for Sony on their PS5 console. But the price is very decent for the featues that the headset actually has. I also missed the Varjo Aero that was designed as a consumer VR headset. It has similar amazing image quality like the Pimax Crystal. It´´s also lighter, has eye-tracking support and it´s very comfortable to wear for a session with many hours. The downside was the retail price of 2.0000 dollar. But it has been dropped now to a range of 1.000 Dollar. Thank you for the video! I really apreciated it. :)

Problem is(mind you I'm a hardcore sony fan)I have watched sony release so many great products and they put them out there to die. They just don't market equipment and devices in the states after release. The ps move on ps3, 1:1 motion was great, left to die. They had books that used the camera and immersed kids into the book on screen...again left to die. I preordered the release 3g vita. It's an amazing little system with the back trackpad and touchscreen now they have discontinued hard copy games. They dropped the ball with this one due to the high dollar proprietary memory. I've just seen sony do this time and time again since ps1. Even the playstation monitor that could be used vertically and their flagship phones that were 2+ generations ahead of apple and samsung. The sony phones were recording 4k when competitors were still recording 1080-2k.

the HP G2 is going to be an ornament in 2 years but a meta will reach the end of it's battery life in about the same time depending on how often you use and recharge it... No batteries don't last for ever... any batteries

Its just incredibly puzzling to me how corpos are pushing eco friendliness but then theyre just going to turn a bunch of awesome vr headsets into expensive paperweights. What a shame, the hp reverb looks like a great pcvr headset.

I hate my HP Reverb. For whatever reason it jumps around, just a little but enough to make it just no fun at all for me. I suspect it is due to how it tracks things not being able to keep up. Although it may just be something wrong with my headset or setup. In any case, I have almost not used mine. I also have to say, there was plenty of other things that just made it no fun. Possibly windows mixed reality being part of that. I just constantly felt like I hit issues and it made me miss my Oculus Rift bad. The tracking I had there was so, so, so much better. The difference in image quality though. I can not deny that things did look lovely in it. Right now its just sitting around in my living room though and I have very little motivation to try it again. I just feel stumped knowing there will be the same nonsense again if I put it back on.

Every headset as a PCVR setup is fine as its essentially just a monitor. Dont over think it folks get what you can afford.

I am not interested in anything from Meta. If I want to watch something naughty in vr. I rather not worry if its being recorded for some AI to analyse or any of the other nonsense those guys may consider. I got the HP Reverb and it was big sad. I mean going from the Oculus Rift, naturally it was amazing in terms of visuals. However for whatever reason, mine makes the head position jump a little at times, and its really deal breaking. I just hate it. There is also all sorts of other frustrating things that constantly made me sad. I would have loved to get one of those Valve Index headsets. However I can not simply buy them. I want a good vr experience again. However I am really not sure how to go about getting that.
