Would adding the Apple Vision Pro, and the higher end Varjo HMDs be possible? If another one is compared by the end of 2025, maybe even throw in the Pimax Crystal SUPER & 12K MicroOLED too? (AVP because simulators tend to use their own controllers for Flight/Driving/Sailing/Trains/etc. Also now apparently Steam VR is 'possible'?) The price range is at least a thousand dollars for most of these uber headsets anyways.

I only use DCS and MSFS and based on your review, I'm really leaning towards the XR-4. 😅 BTW, the scenic flight around Manhattan is such a blast IRL! LaGuardia tower usually clears you to cross Central Park, on your way from the East River to the Hudson. Not directly over the skyscrapers like you did the first time. 😳😂 Speaking of which, the turbulence you feel at 1500 AGL over the city, is something that I really hope they've modelled in MSFS 2024! Really enjoyed this review, thanks. Well another great comparison! I did finally receive my Primax Crystal Light and unfortunately my unit has been a real headache. First, the IPD will no longer adjust and 2nd my unit is not all that clear as others have described. Yes I wear glasses and did order and receive inserts but the focus is still somewhat blurry. I wrote to Primax and they addressed the lens by saying they would send a new pair but they made no comment regarding the IPD adjustment. We all know how long it takes to receive products and this evening being very frustrated I wrote Primax and requested a full refund: will see??? I would like to see reviews on the upcoming Super but the main issue I have with Primax is the time it takes to receive a response from a real person and not a bot. My conclusion is that finding a company that offers better support will most likely be my path and that eliminates Primax for me. Yes, this has been a journey as I waited many years to buy a headset just to turn around and send it back! Thanks for the video Steve, I will be looking at both headsets Somnium and Varjo and hoping by some miracle that Valve has some news??? Of these 2 comparisons you did, who offers the best support after sales. In all honesty I really did not want to spend this much money but I may not have a choice.

When considering the strap design and the comfort issues you mention, please let us know how you have the VR1's strap positioned. The XR4 clearly has a rigid strap (front to back, without a hinge), with the rearmost portion angled downward so the cushion rests against the underside of the skull. This design provides better support for the frontal weight. To achieve the same with the VR1 strap, you need to angle the hinge so the rear angled downward in a similar fashion. Is this not possible for you, or have you tried this?

Hi Steve, love your content as always. What are your thoughts on the Varjo XR3 these days? Varjo are selling the remaining stock and I just wondered if it would be a good purchase today or do you think it’s risky? Does it work well with MSFS and DCS? Cheers.
@Tom--Ace2 ай бұрын
Hi mate, I own a varjo vr3, which is the xr3 less the pass through. The vr3/xr3 in everything outside of DCS and a few apps that support the focus displays is basically a heavier, less bright varjo aero. So everything that applies to the aero, applies to the xr3 (even more so regarding brightness, because the xr3/vr3 are less bright than aero due to the optical stack). If you look at Steve's earlier videos, he compared the crystal (which the crystal light is lighter than but otherwise very similar to visually) to the aero and while both were good headsets, overall Steve found the crystal to be the better headset. So my advice would be don't bother with an xr3/vr3 unless they come with a full unlocked permanent licence (they otherwise need a yearly licence) and don't expect anything more than aero visuals. Frankly, I'd say get a used aero instead, if you don't want a crystal. Having said that, if you want a headset for DCS, the Vr3/xr3 are still the sharpest headsets out there (71ppd) in the inner focus area in DCS - so if you can get one discounted, it could be worthwhile. But you do pay a price in weight, heavy cable and lower fov compared to crystal and aero.

Stated HFOV is 130 with a theoretical of 140, but you are only getting 122? I know everyone is different, but Artur says they underpromise so they can overdeliver (130 instead of 140, in this case), so that's a bit concerning.

Varjo and Vr1 are both way out of my financial reach, but besides that that Nvidia sharpening is a technology that Varjo should implement it as VR1 does. They are the top and don’t understand why they don’t. XR4 can implement that being an Nvidia GPU Only Vr headset. VR1 can work on top AMD GPU?
