Maximising binocular overlap is so important and it was a huge disappointment in the Bigscreen Beyond. I'm so glad that the MeganeX prioritises this feature but I'm wondering if and/or when the headset will be made available in Australia?

This headset is really interesting and very likely my next VR headset if/when I decide to replace my Varjo Aero. Already tried going the Pimax route but won't repeat that mistake again. Certainly not before they've fixed all their quality issues. The only thing about this upcoming headset which makes me hesitate a bit is the brightness level. I will use it more or less exclusively for MSFS and when flying on a bright summer day, I want it to feel exactly like that in the headset. Very much looking forward to upcoming and more in-depth reviews!

Steve, more about that tiny PC with the 4070ti please! I’d like to build or buy that form factor pc for pcvr. Do you know more about it? Also don’t know why it would be using a mobile CPU. Case looks big enough for micro atx or itx?

Wow, this might make me cancel my pimax super pre-order!

This one has way more than 4K per eye. It has 3552 x 3840 pixels = 13.6 million compared to 4K with 3840 x 2160 pixels = 8.3 million Dunno why they underwhelm with their marketing.
@VRFlightSimGuyКүн бұрын
Interested to see what PPD level this is. But I guess we'd have to know the FOV figures?
@b.s.7693Күн бұрын
@VRFlightSimGuy yes, and also the stereo overlap is needed. But assuming a total FOV of 100 degree (horizontally) with a 60% overlapping area of both displays, we get around 54 pixel per degree.

What no wireless WiFi ? also the price tag isn’t going to work for me ..I do appreciate that the visuals are great,

Wireless streaming would have been a huge mistake for this type of headset. Thx for watching!

I like the fact they were honest about their inspiration from VRchat, and obviously loving the NVGs forms factor. I would like to know if they will consider the 4th essential pillar of hFoV in the future though…

Are the lens better than the PCL (commercial version not reviewer version)? If yes are they on par or better than on Pico 4? Is the fov rectangular or oval?
@oczhaalКүн бұрын
It looks good but has some flaws though... Price, base stations needed, no audio solution, no eye tracking... What gets me excited is the form factor !

I think there's a gap in the market for an upper mid end HMD with a similar form factor, ~2700*2 resolution QLED, pancake, 100+ FOV if possible, display port, lighthouse, no audio, no eye tracking, ~$600-700US. Having both inside out and lighthouse would be great but the point is skimping to keep the cost down. So basically this headset with cheaper panels and lenses but still around Crystal visuals. And most importantly, 90% of units shipped cannot be defective.

I see it doesn't have audio or mic which is a deal breaker for me. I don't fancy having to wear an audio and mic headset over the VR headset. It would require managing two sets of cables attached to the PC to be able to communicate in multiplayer games or VR chat.

Now add inside out tracking and I’m sold.
@steeltribe3967Күн бұрын
I'm sold but unfortunately live in Australia and there is no option to ship here :( tried to use your link. Thanks for another great review. As a BSB owner I know this has to be the future. I do love the BSB but the glare is noticeable and sweet spot is small.

I think the Varjo Xr4 will be the King for long time. Its good to have many headsets for competition. Better for us.

This seems to have everything except aspheric lenses. Just one plea: don't kill this one off as you and Sebastian (plus Covid as the final straw) did with a certain previous oled headset using the same setup (remember 'looking through sunglasses'). I got my money back, but many didn't!
@adrianstealth340Күн бұрын
Looks good But £1809 is to much for a vr headset for home use Once it starts to approach £1k then it’s a no no , VR tech is moving on year by year it’s not worth committing £1k+ to one headset +thetes Decent cheap options available to get by with until a higher end option for around £600 - £900 becomes available ……. Which there surely will be , sit tight
@patricksiebenthal6131Күн бұрын
And it comes with just one base station. Having worked at oculus with the rift there was a reason it came with two base stations. The controllers will lose tracking unless you have a large space in front of your setup.
@royevans1882Күн бұрын
Not a chance in hell. Quality always costs money and it’s never cheap at any point.
@VRFlightSimGuyКүн бұрын
I really don't think some people appreciate how expensive those displays are to make 😁
@jay6817Күн бұрын
But yeah sadly for the price point, mass production has dropped the Q3 price to affordable, but if you've got the $ then great. This would be a very good option
@stevetb7777Күн бұрын
I'm an FOV snob so far... can't move off my 8KX. Would you say the binocular overlap on the 8KX isn't so good? Things don't feel very 3D unless they are very close... I might just have to try this Meganex in the future and see if it would be worth giving up large FOV for.

nice and impressive infos and great video. i m swiss btw and just asking me, how you get the vr view displayed as single eye. i only have it with left & right eye visible on my monitor. maybe you can let me know how you setup everything that only left or right eye view is display on screen. many thanks.
@ThorloarКүн бұрын
Need eye tracking. Foveated rendering is necessary for super high pixel density these days for flight sim VR. The Quest 3, Crystal light etc would both be far better, almost perfect, with eye tracking. It’s weird to see next gen headsets still not incorporating it.

For those worried about the quality control, these guys are very reputation driven. I have sent numerous emails before pulling the trigger. They responded to all my questions within 2 days. They assured me that if a bad/defective product is received, then they will ship a replacement to honor their commitment. They have checked all laws in the countries where they are selling, so no laws will be broken. I personally met the CEO in Palo Alto,CA when they came here. The headset is very good and even after meating them and trying it out, it still took me 3 weeks before I purchased. No headset is perfect! This one will be close. These guys, unlike Pimax, are customer oriented. You can't return it because you won't need or want to.

Please make a video on reverse tethering with Virtual desktop + Link cable on Vr ( yes it is possible ). It has been a game changer for me. Smooooth gameplay, no sluttering. Best experience ever, i've try all Tutos, all perf guide, with VD, with Link, The best is VD with link cable by reverse tethering android. I've no skill in video editing but it will for sure help many people with Quest 2-3

On the issue of integrated audio, VR community members finally needs to get over themselves! For a headset like this it's entirely irrelevant, as you can easily mount any normal headphones over it. This is what the solution should be! If you get wireless headphones you'll have no extra cables, and the benefit is you can get exactly the type of audio you want, rather than what the VR headset manufacturer thought you wanted. This is far superior to integrated audio!

Nice video as usual mate, and very informative also, in fact, you made a key question there about OpenXR compatibility and just for that I´ll wait for those little ones. If those beauties pass your production unit test and they make them OpenXR native those will be my SIM headset for sure... Thanks for it man.

Great 1st impressions video, Steve. This looks very promising, but I still think the price is a bit too high. Also, I know that in a very few years from now, this will be the standard, and MUCH cheaper. Then again, if I hadn't already had the Pimax Crystal and was looking for an upgrade, I'd DEFINITELY consider this one. Love from Norway as always ♥♥♥♥♥

My two concerns with this over the Somnium VR1: FOV and stability on the head (to stay in the sweet spot). I've mainly gotten into sims lately, but I'll hopefully receive my H6 soon and I'll still be playing more active titles at times too.
