I’ve fished w/ Abu Garcia almost my entire life. I love the older 5500 and 6500 flat side baitcasters! I do own a newer Black Max, one each of the LH and the RH models! Can’t find a Silver Max @ any of the local Wally Worlds! I have used several Lews reels also and hafta say they are smooth as can be also! Awesome vid! Keep up the great work guys! I own a AbuGarcia BlackMax. I have had it for three years. It still cast like new. Back in the dinosaur days I used the Ambassador 5000 reels with the UglyStick rods which I still have. Never used a Lews but when my BlackMax wears out I’m going to buy one to try.

I had a Silver Max and I also have a LEW’S Laser MG. The Abu was free due to a gift card and the Laser MG was a gift. I used them specifically on 7’ Medium rods for bass fishing only. I had to service the Abu within about 7mnths and till this day(1yr and 9mnths later) I have not had to service the LEW’’S yet and still runs like a dream. My Silver Max was serviced and didn’t run the same after that. No More Abu For Me! Now I have bought 2 more Lews baitcasters as well as spinning reels and love them all.

Once you get to the $200 $250 mark all the companies are good reels. I just wish lews would make less reels that way they could make all the reels better if you get me.

M Jones I do have a LTX SLS and a ALF BF7 and have had a MGX and a SX in the past. The reels are good and I also love how the Gen 2 fit in my hands but I don’t feel they compare quality wise with my Shimano and Daiwa reels. This is only my opinion and not fact obviously 😉.

I have to say I love my Abu Garcias mate. I have 3 baitcasters: Abu Garcia Revo X on my Powell Nusance Rod (most expensive combo), Kastking Assassin on my Berkeley Lightning Shock Rod (2nd most expensive combo), and last but not least is my Abu Garcia Black Max on the Shakespeare Excursion Rod (cheapest setup). I've tried other brands (borrowed my buddy's or family's combos) but I can honestly say I tend to pick up either my Revo for froggin or my Black Max for cranking bladed jigs, spinner baits, swim jigs and rattle traps. I just love how they feel so I'm team Abu all the way baby 😎🤙🏻

I have never used a Lew's product before. I am on my 3rd season with my Abu Garcia Silvermax combo. I have caught lots of bass with it. The only thing that has gone wrong with it was the eyelet came out of the tip line guide on the rod. I got one of those fuji kits and replaced it and it's still going strong. I think I got it on sale for $59 at Cabelas. I currently use 14lb Berkley Vanish flourocarbon on it. I have also used 30 lb Power Pro braid and 12 lb Berkley Big Game mono.

I have the Mark rose reel and it’s amazing and I also have the abu Garcia sliver max I like the mark rose one more to be honest and I’ve always liked lews more too I have the xfinty baitcasting combo and it’s honestly the best combo for the price I would highly recommend it’s only 90 dollars and it’s a 6’10 mediam heavy rod but it’s super light weight and it’s at Walmart!

I know that it kind of dampens the fun, but I'd be able to tell which reel is which by the grips. I own two Black Max baitcasters, as well as three SilverMax spinning reels, and a couple of Ambassadeur baitcasters, so I'd be able to tell the difference between the grips on the reels. I just bought my first Lew's Speed Stick baitcaster combo from Walmart last night because I've been wanting it since Walmart started selling it. The only thing that I don't like about it so far is it only comes in right handed retrieve, and while I am right handed, I like to hold the pole and cast with my right hand and reel with my left.

my first baitcaster was a 12 dollar one from Walmart which has no brand. I brought it used it was a setup I paid 40 bucks at the flea market. Because I'm cheap like that. Wanted to try Bass fishing and the very first time I went fishing for Bass I catched an 18 incher which is roughly a 3 punder. Now I have decent rods sets ups but that first rod and reel combo will always be my favorite because it made me fall in love with Bass fishing. Sadly the drag is busted which is why I don't use it anymore but I did catch more bass with it. Just checked my reel and it's a Outdoor angler. 12 dollars brand new.

You CAN “feel” a difference in these two reels, and anyone who’s handled or has experience with these two reels should be able to as well, that is if they pay attention to details, as I do.... Are the spools not different widths? The Lew’s would be narrower and the Abu Garcia would be wider if I’m not mistaken. That’s the case with my Black Max and my Lew’s Speed Spool SLP Laser. It looked like that was the case on the two y’all are using for this test but I’m not 100% on that. Not trying to be rude or disrespectful or discredit your test but if you’re doing a test on reels I wish you/I couldn’t or wouldn’t be able to actually FEEL the difference. The only reason I mention this is because I’d be able to feel THAT difference right off the bat, also making me somewhat bias, as much as I hate to say it. This coming from someone who’s been fishing for 33 years and using a baitcaster for 26 years. (And to be honest I believe Norm and Noah could, should, and did feel the difference. I may be wrong but that would show how much attention they’ve shown their rods and reels, again, not being rude or disrespectful, love y’all and love y’all’s channels and videos, I watch, subscribe, and like as many videos as I can of y’all’s. A lot of good and at times hilarious clips and a lot of good information y’all share. I don’t want y’all to take me the wrong way, I almost deleted some of my post in fear of insulting one of y’all but I feel this is a bit important. I honestly hope y’all don’t take my comment.. book (apologies), the wrong way) BRO!!! BETWEEN THE TIMES OF 14:31-14:48 y’all had me rolling!! Literally laughing so hard my stomach was hurting. I just watched that part again and just heard Noah say “did I hook you”. I was wondering why Noah was just standing there was his rod tip in the mud... 😂😂 that poor little last eyelet was probably clogged with mud. Y’all still got me laughing. Y’all are awesome! I’m currently using the black max, about a $40 reel and the Lew’s SLP Speed Spool, about a $50-$60 reel. Which do I think is better? Before I answer, my dad was an Abu Garcia guy and I was more on Shimano’s side, owning 3 at the time. But, I did use my dads black max 3600 and a Abu 5600 if I remember correctly. It was mid to late 90’s at the time. Even though I owned three Shimanos I still threw my dad’s Abu Garcias from time to time. But I ended up with his Garcias and eventually laying down my Shimanos and joining team Abu but.... BUT!!! Ugh!! I hate to, but I’m brutally honest, almost to a fault, and I call it like I see it.. anyways here we go. After throwing Abu Garcias for 23-25 years I bought the Lew’s I mentioned above and I can’t say enough about it. I would like to mention just because I run my Abu’s magnetic brake half way that’s not the case with the Lew’s, it’s only about a quarter of the way from max. 3/4 of the way activated. But I do have to say, AS MUCH AS I HATE TO!!!! I believe the Lew’s reel handles better, feels better, casts better, retrieves better, hauls fish better, and just feels higher quality, as Norm mentioned. That’s a perfect description and explanation, “just feels higher quality”. One more thing I feel important to mention, I feel like you have to spend a little more time dialing in the Lew’s, because in my opinion a quarter or eighth or sixteenth of a turn for the Lew’s “changes” more or is more sensitive, giving it a wider range of settings for all casting styles... Oh yeah, I’ve owned my Lew’s less than 24 hrs by the way... technically I’m still kinda dialing it in but as I mentioned above, I believe it’s overall a better reel. But for their higher end reels, that would need a separate test, in my opinion. We can’t carry what we’ve learned with these lower end, less expensive reels (not cheap!! lol. Makes ‘em sound bad.) over to their respective, higher end, more expensive reels. NOW DO THEIR MOST EXPENSIVE REEL EACH... just gave you a good reason to purchase two really expensive, very quality (from what I’m told, don’t know about the quality part personally) reels...

I'm more partial to Abu. I have a Blackmax reel and a Bluemax combo both bought from Walmart. I will definitely try Lews soon.

I have a black max on a vengeance rod and a few lews reels on assorted lews rods, I love the lews reels but for some reason I really like the abu rod

This was 1 of the VERY 1st videos I watched when I was shopping for a reel, way before I knew who LoJo was. I went with the Black Max because I didn't like the Thumb Button on the Silver Max. I would of went with the Lews Veteran ??? one but I wanted the 7' Medium Heavy Rod in the Combo and couldn't find it in the Lews. I am happy with the Black Max but have nothing to compare to😏😃😃. I have thought I should be casting further and thought it might be the reel, but I am playing with the adjustments more, LOVE the Backlash 😜😃😃😃😃😃

I prefer Abu Garcia. But then again i only use one Lew's reel once. Had difficulty setting it. But your right both are quality reels

LEWS! My first was a Daiwa PT series, circa 1989 with a pistol grip daiwa rod. then went to Ambassador in the 90s, Johnny Morris early 2000s, now been with LEWS for 10 years. Nothing cast better!!!
