It is refreshing to see a humble surfer with a healthy ego and a great sense of humor. When I see some of the most talented and skilled extreme sport enthusiasts come to Hawaii, and discover how obnoxious, selfish and inconsiderate they are it is so disappointing to me. When they come to Hawaii and chew up and spit out the local spirit with little respect for the aina or it's people it is heartbreaking. You really seem to have respect and appreciation for who you are, where you live and what you do.

Man, I'm so psyched to hear him giving props to Gerry Lopez. My favorite surfer of all time. One of the best moments of my life, Gerry asking me: "What's it really like? Dropping into a big set wave at Maverick's?" I thought: "I can't believe it, Gerry Lopez asked me something." But he's that humble and cool. I'm a nobody. Just a guy who liked big waves till I got hurt. I still love big waves, but 8ft. N. Baja is big for me now, after my injuries. The filming and editing of the first day was some of the best I've seen. Really captured what it would be like being out there, guys paddling over the crests , their 100lbs balls like anchors scraping the reef below them, drone shots, I mean everything was on point, and made my palms sweat. The rest of the video was on point too.
