Great list! I have been finding ALOT of Curlsmith products at TJMAXX! The jumbos in particular. I picked up the Jumbo Curlsmith Multi Tasking conditioner for $29xx, the 8oz. Shine Jelly for 12xx. They also had the Multi Tasking Shampoo, Shine shampoo, Shine gel, & the color shampoo. That is an amazing price for Curlsmith! I never thought I would see Curlsmith there! Tfs! Blessings!

The Olaplex clarifying shampoo has been one of my fave hair product discoveries of 2022. It brought my curls back to life once I figured out I had hard water damage that nothing else could fix.

Hey Courtney. Love the video. Some of my favorite products this year: Clarifying Shampoo - Prell. I did what you did and after Suave changed the formula of their Shampoo I went to Neutrogena only to find that one changed as well. Prell is inexpensive drug store and has a good sulfate. Lo Poo - Olaplex No 4. This shampoo is pricey but VERY concentrated and feels silky. Leave-In Conditioner/Heat Protectant - Pureology Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Spray. It smells FANTASTIC and leaves my hair soft and silky. Hair Gel - Curlsmith Hydro Style Flexi Jelly. I don't like hard hold gels and this one is perfect. As far as the major change I had hair related is that I went back to using silicones. It has been really good for my hair.

For everyone: Time Stamp 5:17 is Best of Deep Donditioner, not Co Wash, Co Wash is at 8:45. The biggest surprise and routine change for me and my fine low density wavy hair this year was when I actually (after like 6 months) took the advice a curly hairdresser (with fine low density wavy hair) gave me: Use curl cream and a foam and stay away from gels... My hair had lost all it's curl/wave and bounce and did not clump. The cream really helped with that. I also started clarifying properly again and I think that's helped too.

@@333Lovelylaura I have been using the Innersense I Create Lift and Inahsi Define and Shine. I liked them both but both have 1 small thing I did not enjoy. With the innersense I felt like the tips of my hair would become dry after repeated use and the Inahsi one does not really smell good.

Fun fact that I love for a foam/gel is to take a clean empty bath and body works foaming hand soap container and mix in your favorite gel with distilled water. It works like a foam but with amazing hold while still being very light weight.

Hi Courtney. I want to first say congrats to being a new mom. i don't have wavy hair i actually have 4b-4c hair and i love watching your year-end favorites and your compare product videos. i can't use curl creams either or heavy leave ins so your recommendations every year are spot on. i use to use as i am leave in conditioner but stopped due to me having so many products. I find myself using spray leave ins this year and light gels or custards. i actually have not deep conditioned this year at all. HAPPY HOLIDAYS

It's so funny, we have very similar hair types. Mine is silky, wavy, fine, and low porosity but it absolutely hates all Curlsmith products. I haven't found a single one that didn't make my hair feel immediately gunky. My favorite combination lately has been the Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Hair Serum, Verb's Curl Leave In, Verb's Curl Foaming Gel, and then Verb's Ghost oil. The foaming gel is freaking amazing. I love that my hair still feels so silky when I use it.

I use mostly Maui Moisture products. Either the awaphui or the bamboo fiber shampoo and the hair mask as conditioner and mask, with protein treatments now and then from Green Beauty or Boldplex. As a leave in I use Roux Fanciful White Minx (my hair is silver) and purple toning in one. And the Maui Moisture curl cream and/or Dippity Do and/or Verb foaming gel. Plus I treat my hair with jojoba oil and rosemary and teatree as a pre-poo the night before I wash my hair which is only once a week because my scalp is very dry. Once in awhile I use a clarifying shampoo.

Hi Courtney, I use the “as I am” leave in and I love it, but you said it doesn’t contain glycerin, but it does. Did they change their formula or you said that because glycerin isn’t among the first 5 ingredientes? Also, what do you think about parabens? Don’t they accumulate in the body? I ask you because you are a Chemist. I want to try the Chi gel you recommended but it has at least 2 types of parabens. Thanks

What are your thoughts on blue-line curlsmith detox shampoo? I've got naturally dry scalp and hair, so it seems just strong enough to remove my standard not too oil-heavy and no-silicone products - so I LOVE it for a once every 1-2 weeks deep cleanse! But I doubt it's ability to remove hard water minerals or any silicones... and this is a problem because I've got low-med hard water, and I've been experimenting with the olaplex curl cream w/silicone especially for humid Hawaii vacation, and for dry winter air protection.... However I'm either allergic or very sensitive to SLS, I know because it gives me terrible mouth soreness and dry lips in toothpaste, and now that I've stopped using it in shampoo my scalp is soooo much happier and less dry/flaky! I think I need to try a sulfate shampoo with just sodium laureth maybe... However, final fun fact, which Dr. Dray talked about on her derm channel not too long ago - the positive cations in hard water (primarily calcium and magnesium) react with the negative anion in cleansers, such as with fatty anions in traditional soap produced with lye, AND with the sulfate anions in sulfate based shampoos! Sulfates react with hard water to form a soap-scum like precipitate, which forms films on our hair and skin 😅🤣 Here's a reference with basic chemistry I found - science-yhairblog.blogspot.com/2016/03/hard-water-and-your-hair.html?m=1 Moral of the story, there's probably some ideal order in which to use these products to limit hard water mineral presence when clarifying with a sulfate, but hell if I know, cause unless we're all gonna wash our hair with distilled water, I'm totally and completely lost to a solution 😂🙃

I have been on the hunt for a hard hold gel for a long time. My soft, fine, just below ear length curls need it or I end up with more of a wave when I scrunch. I've tried so many recommended as "hard hold" but have wondered, "is it me/my application?" I recently went back to KCC and thought that was gonna do it. Halfway through the jar, I am once again disillusioned. I will try Chi and see what happens 🙏🏻 Ty!

I love the way the Mielle babasu mint deep conditioner feels and works but I find the mint smell so overwhelming and the smell really clings to my hair. I am still overwhelmed by the smell the next few days and it makes me constantly nauseated. Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar conditioner without the mint? I don't need that much moisture so I think the Bounce Curl will be too much for me.

Me too! That Mielle babassu mint deep conditioner smell is truly by far the worst smelling hair product I have ever put on my hair. In the jar it smells okay, but on my hair, I had the exact same experience you describe! Nausea-inducing and doesn’t seem to dissipate. It took me two wash days to get the smell to fully leave. Have you tried the Curlsmith protein conditioner that Courtney mentioned? The one that’s the deep conditioner and rinse-out conditioner and leave-in conditioner all in one? It has a similar feel and consistency to the Mielle one, so it might potentially work for you? 🤞
