Building muscle without gaining weight or building muscle without getting fat are very popular topics within the fitness world. With bulking and cutting seemingly always in the forefront in fitness strategies, one might wonder if there are other alternatives that do not require intentionally putting on more fat or going on difficult weight loss diets.
Building muscle without gaining weight/fat is commonly known as body recomposition. In technical terms, body recomposition is simply changing the proportions of the mass types of your body, particularly the amount of lean mass, which includes muscle, compared to fat mass. Although bodyweight itself is not necessarily involved in body recomp, usually maintaining the same weight is a good sign that your composition is indeed changing when paired with an effective training and nutrition program (and your delts looking like boulders of course). So in this video, we're going to dive into the HOW-TO of building muscle without gaining weight!
Picturefit on KZbin! I share some of my health and fitness tips with you. Come check out our content! New fitness topics on a weekly basis. Want to learn about more health and fitness topics? I asked Dr Mike Israetel a similar question before, if you could maintain your weight and build muscle at approximately 20% body fat. He did reply, yes but it would be a slower procress compared to bulk/cut approach. Just thought I'd share that for anyone who might be wondering.

This is what I'm doing. But you will be also gaining a lot of weight. I was 20% BF at around 80kg, currently 100kg still with 20%BF. Picked this because it's just more comfortable for me to live day to day without starving and then eating like a pig seasonally. But yeah if you want that 8 pack. The bulk/cut approach is probably the quickest without PEDs

I've been doing this for a while unintentionally. It's just how my schedule works. Since I'm in college I never had any protein powder because of my budget especially now. It takes a long time (I've been doing it for 4 years now) and my body is in better shape than ever and it's much easier to manage diet than when I used to bulk/cut over large spans of time

I can't do the reps in reserve (RIR). I don't know why but I can't tell "how many" I have left. I push hard and the only way I know I've pushed hard enough is when my muscles don't respond like the should (i.e. I can't lift the dumbbells anymore). I feel nothing even after I completely failed. I still feel like I could do more, but even if I try to push passed and get those "phantom reps" I can't. I don't get sore but I also don't feel the endorphins everyone else says they do. I workout for health, but I hate doing it. It has been this way for years. I always feel like I am just "going through the motions."
@AmazinA100

Same here. I don’t get sore (except after I train my biceps) and I don’t feel the endorphins even though I’m still a newbie. 😢
@hkiss95

You might want to look into progressive overload. You seem to have a good cardiovascular system which makes your breaks shorter than most people. Use that to your advantage by super setting workouts or upping the weight till you can’t do about 4-6 reps
@hkiss95
@hkiss95 Жыл бұрын
@@AmazinA100 so his problem seems to be different than yours. When you are newbie you lack mind muscle connection. Really focus on the muscle you are lifting with. Biceps are one of the first mind muscle connection you get, then from there I think lats then shoulders then legs and finally chest. Chest took me forever to get that connection

@urkling

It's too hard on the muscles. You break down more musclefiber than you can rebuild. Or something like that. All the fitness youtubers i trust preach this at least.
@phun1901

Very little extra hypertrophy for a lot more fatigue. But it's hard to guess for a lot of people. It's often better to go to failure than hold back because you stopped way too early.

I personally don't see any need for any isolation exercises. When I do pull-ups combined with other pulling exercises my biceps get sore enough together with my back, so no need for any isolation. Same goes for pushing exercises for triceps and squats for quads. Compounds are just much better, apart from deadlifts, deadlifts are definitely not my thing.
