Then programming would be incorrect. The issue in question is to do with faulty software. The right method of flashing the headunit will resolve this issue. If programming finishes and issue is present then it is done incorrectly.

Can fix this at a fraction of the cost if you have access to a windows laptop and bmw enet cable. You'll also require a battery charger for the car to keep.voltage stable

Check brightness settings in idrive and via the scroll wheel next to headlight controls. If they are both good you may need lcd replacement
