Hi, very useful tips thank you. I've had a 2020 XC40 from new and have a very frustrating issue, not sure if you've seen this: If I turn the engine off with the phone attached after playing any audio though carplay (which I do a lot) the next time I start the car, it loads FM radio. If I use the broadcast radio it's always DAB, never FM so why is it defaulting to FM? And do you know of a fix? Cheers

Removing negative takes all current out of system. Positive removal is not necessary.

Can iDrive in 20 years bmw also be flashed to FIX it? It is older iDrive. Same issue, recenntly head unit with iDrive keeps restarting.

Depends on the issue. If it is that old then it's not likely to have headunit shown in video.

Thanks for the video, I was able to fit the Wi-Fi antenna in my F30. For anyone who's going to attempt this on an F30 there are 4 screws holding on the front panel, two at the top as seen in the video and 2 at the bottom. Didn't need a trim tool, just pulled at the trim and it came off.

I believe the built in OS on your vehicle is android and you can download direct. Doesn't have android auto as far as I know unfortunately.

@@carcodesecure it is Android 11, the truck is not my property when I refered to "my" in previous comment. I do drive that vehicle for my boss, so I don't have full access to the vehicle's settings. The truck came with factory TomTom navigation which is really good but I prefer Google Maps because I have a lot of pins and locations saved there.

Can fix this at a fraction of the cost if you have access to a windows laptop and bmw enet cable. You'll also require a battery charger for the car to keep.voltage stable

I have a 2017 x5 x35i . IDrive keeps re-booting whenever it wants too. The rear camera is also intermittently not working. The bluetooth/usb has stopped working and so did the navigation, What can i do ? I believe the dealer fix is into the $$$$ thousands. Any recommendations here in New York ?

Every e92 will have an electric mirror regardless, so that wouldn't affect anything. Having the electric seats should provide the correct wiring for the mirrors.

On my 2018 s90 the screens the same as yours but does not have the outlined usb box in middle compartment. So wont work as i rang volvo they said ure car being the momentum pro does not have this facility and front camera facility on vehicle.

Thanks for the video, very neat and professional.. my 2015 F33 (435 cabriolet) has an issue with the entertainment system .. the navigation / usb library / music from phone / cd are all frozen .. I can only use the radio ; tried to reset the idrive using all the button combinations I saw online but nothing is happening, tried disconnecting battery for a while, nothing .. tried erasing driver data , nothing .. the mechanic claims he tried resetting the module but it didn’t work , no error showing on my code scanner.. any recommendations??

so wait, was there CarPlay already activated in the car and the antenna allows wireless or was there no CarPlay and the antenna allowed CarPlay all together and that being wireless ? if the latter then need to see if it'll work on bmw X1 but no NBT system but Europe WAY system

There was no carplay in this vehicle. Adding the wireless antenna is one part of the activation process. BMW does not have wired apple carplay.

My new volvo only works with CarPlay after I had to purchase an original Apple USB C to lightning connector. None of my other cables worked with it.

Newer volvo with usb c connections have been reported to work with apple cables or apple approved cables. Very strange as the older versions with usb a slots didn't have this problem

If your volvo has apple carplay and not android auto it's for 1 of 2 reasons 1 - it needs activation 2 - if you have the new aaos system in new volvos there isn't android auto as the operating system is android itself

Check brightness settings in idrive and via the scroll wheel next to headlight controls. If they are both good you may need lcd replacement

Try a hard reset first via using the volume button or disconnecting battery. If this doesn't work you may need programming or replacement. Your issue sounds slightly different to the one I show in the video.

Faulty antenna possibly. Remove unit and check connection
