Best Way to Freeze and Store Bait for Fishing

Bait can be really expensive to buy and often it is hard to find good quality bait. We have found that the cigar minnows, ballyhoo, mullet, etc that we brine and vacuum seal last far longer and don’t wash out by trolling. Also, because it is tougher it stays on the hook better when a fish is trying to eat it.
We like using an Avid Armor Vacuum sealer for our fish that we store to eat and for smaller live baits.

here i just fill up a 5 gallon bucket or a cooler with water use regular ziplock bags basically almost seal it all the way dunk the bag in water and seal the last section when all the air goes out. dont have to buy special bags or machine.. and it works good enough for me.

We use to do that as well with our fillets. I think the vacuum is more effective but it’s definitely a cheaper alternative.
