Hollis and Nancy,Found your video's earlier this month. I have watched everyone up to now. I too have garden beds made of 3 x 12 boards 20 ft. long, (4 of them at the present, but will be putting in a few more). You have shown me so many tips that I will incorporate starting next year. Love all of the templates and your "Super Duper Seed Dropper is a very neat idea. Also, so many different types of you have grown is awesome. I will now try some of these to see what they are like. I will soon begin on the cooking video's, so that we can try something different. I live in south Louisiana, so maybe we can incorporate some of these veggies in the "Cajun" cooking. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us all.God bless,Robbie

Victoria Bishop Saute some onions in olive oil, or in bacon grease, whatever you got, add clean washed and shopped greens, in this case the radish tops, let steem just a little while, turning it once or twice. Turn it off, and leave a lid on the pan for about 5 minutes. It will finish cooking gently in it's own heat. Serve with white rice, or on toast, or in warm tortillas. When you prepare this you can also add garlic and chopped hot peppers to your liking. We use the same recipe for dandylion greens, for plantain leaves, and other kinds of green leaves we grow or forage. Always delicious.☺😊😀😁😀😊☺

Just stumbled upon your videos and have been watching all night... So much fun to see all these wonderful veggies, I would have loved being able to have a small version of your garden, especially if our climate had been better, with longer summers (🇳🇴)... ☺️ That purple daikon is sooo beautiful! I read somewhere that they are real yummy pickled too, would be a great way to enjoy it all year round! Imagine it in a sweet and sour (apple cider vinegar&maple syrup) - and a bit spicy - brine (like for Connie's Rawsome Kitchen's bread & butter pickles - they're a must try too, check her channel here on YT!)... Om nom nom! ☺️ I keep forgetting to ask about daikons at my local Asian market, must remember, would love to try pickling those purple beauties! Does your cutie terrier love veggies from the garden too? I am more or less vegan, so my dog never gets any animal meat, just what is in her kibble, but she is nuts for some veggies. Her ultimate favorite is Brussel Sprouts, they have to be cut in 4-6 pieces and pan fried though, with a little oil, until brown/caramelized, so the flavor transforms to the nutty delicacy it really is! She also loves it is I through in a handful of cut up spinach and let that cook until done too, then mix it all well with her kibble. I vary between things she likes, as she gets so tired of eating the same (how they tell us to feed dogs, but it helps having a varying "side" for her, I think - why shouldn't they enjoy food as we do?). BTW, I am a bit OCD on some things too, one being spelling. Not even just in my own language, LOL! You have a little typo, so you don't have a Super Duper Seed Dropper, as you keep telling us, you have a "Droper" (take it from a foreigner, it ought to be "DroPPer" 😂, just like the dropper on a medicine bottle! ☺️)! Sorry, this got real long... Thanks a lot for great videos and God bless to all three of you! 💞

I'm growing a few Rambo radishes and they have nice healthy leaves but are not bulbing up. I'm getting lots of tiny roots but the taproots are skinny like carrots. Is there any way to fix that? I have never heard of Purple Bora King and I thought Daikon were solid white and thin like carrots. The leaves on yours look different from my Rambo radishes. On mine the leaves are prickly with little hairs. It doesn't look like yours have that. Are your leaves smooth or do they also have hairs on them that I just can't see?

Hey Hollis, trying to find a radish that is similar in flavor to either a turnip or a kohlrabi. I'd like to grow turnips but don't care for their usual spicy flavor. Can you describe these purples a little more say compared to typical radish, turnip, or other? Appreciate it. Brent

@HollisNancysHomestead 7 жыл бұрын
+C3 Voyage The Purple Bora King variety is very mild. When cooked they are extremely mild, no spicy taste at all, almost sweet. Nancy even shreds them up as a salad. I have stomach ulcers and these don't bother me at all👍

I love your string method. I am guessing that is a piece of 3/4 PVC and you had to get it cut? What are the strings attached to? Where do you get these seeds? I got the Tatsoi. When should I plant that one? When are you planting these? The electric fence to prevent squirrels is really livin' high on the hog:)

+Portia Holliday Thanks for watching my friend. Let me answer you questions in the order you asked them: 1) 1" PVC cut to suit my height 2) bricks 3) www.kitazawseed.com 4) plant in early Spring or early Fall 5) I planted the seeds in this video on September 4th

Just wrap the brick with the string. I'll watch the link. Thank You and I'm sure Nancy made a wonderful soup. This is my first year to eat purple top turnips. I boiled it from root to shoot, but I'm now removing the tap root bc it is too fibrous. I boil them for an hour. I'm off to watch the link. That's a good website for seeds and they've been in business since 1917,Wow!

+Portia Holliday Yes, simply tie the string to the bricks. I usually don't eat the stems on the purple tops but the red turnips are fine. Baker Creek Seed Company is another good supplier for your seed needs👍
