I started my Grandson off with my Pentax Spotmatic. He was 9 and he couldn't quite grasp all three elements of the shutter triangle. I then bought a Minolta Dynax 500si Super with a 35-70mm kit lens, set it to aperture priority and he nailed it. It didn't take him long to get his composition skills dialled in and he managed to figure out depth of field just using aperture and zoom.

As a totally unbiased Minolta fan.. hard to argue against them! The first company to use multi-coated lenses, helped Leica introduce electronics to their cameras, created the Acute-Matte focusing screens used in Hasselblads, brought the first real AF SLR to market, and laid the groundwork for Sony cameras to dominate the market today 👀 Bronica is a pretty fun story though! Cosina would be an interesting choice too. I know they still make Zeiss and Voigtländer things, but they were responsible for so many third-party lenses, cameras, and accessories sold under so many names. Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Exakta, it seems like everyone re-sold Cosinas at some point! Anyway, thanks for watching. (-: - Connor

Great choice! I migrated over to a Dynax 60 (same body shape, slightly newer) because we had/have a whole bunch of never-been-used ones, but the Dynax/Maxxum 5 was the first one I really fell in love with after playing around with a 9, 7000i, and 600si Classic. Now the 60 is my go-to autofocus camera for sure. Thanks for watching! - Connor

Have a troublesome, decade-plus-long history of cutting your own hair (and all your roommates') and be sick of your shoulder-length hair getting in your face on windy Finnish mornings. 😁 It's funny because this hair (minus the long back) is pretty much exactly how I had my hair in high school so it doesn't even feel very different to me!! My eyes are getting old, and I hate shooting w glasses. Are there any decently priced, A-1 / FM2 class SLRs out there that has diopter adjustment? Thanks!

Built-in diopter adjustment might be hard without going a lot newer. Many mid-to-high range AF SLRs will have some form of it. For a more manual camera, you're likely better off looking for an accessory diopter. Nikon and Canon both sold them for the FM/A series cameras, respectively. They attach to the viewfinder and adjust the diopter. Not adjustable, but they get the job done! Thanks for watching. - Connor

We received hundreds of applications from all over the world, so unfortunately not everyone could even be interviewed. We valued people who had previous experience working with film cameras, particularly in sales, and people who had previous experience doing product photography (sort of industrially, not artistic Instagram-like stuff). For anyone to come from outside of Finland (or outside the EU even moreso) they needed to bring exceptional talent and experience to the table. If you're interested in applying to work with us in the future, I'd recommend trying to do similar work to what we do here. For the listing team position in July, the required skills were product photography, pricing, and e-commerce. Running a personal eBay store for film cameras is a great start, or working at a local store to help them sell online. Basically, we offer a very niche job position that requires very niche skills and experience that most people don't have. Just loving film cameras is, unfortunately, not always enough to be successful in our company! Hope that explains things a bit. Thanks for watching! - Connor
