FunTime Saje Mine is really skittish but she did really well with a style they sort of step into. Just slip their feet in and there is only one snap on top. I dont think my cat would let me snap under her and I'm not a fan of having something around her neck while out walking. There are several different kinds of harnesses on the market. Good luck! : )

you should start training them while in their months old, and that way they become habitue/ used with the harness..but when you only started later years you will really struggle. :) but if your patient enough that will do as well .

My cat is also pretty calm when I put on his harness, although I do have a problem. He's overweight (13.8, I think), and I'm pretty sure the harness is way too small on him. Without tugging, the ring that is supposed to go behind his front legs only goes halfway around his body.

Thank you for that tutorial. My cat inside the house totally acts like a dog, has to be by your side, totally interested in what you're doing. He loves every single person who comes in the house. So, I got a harness to take him out. He didn't mind it too much if I put it on quickly while we're at the screen door. Once outside, he forgets it's on and walks to interesting things, people and dogs. We have a delightful time. I find one finger for the neck is good but it has to be tight enough that Only One finger can get in. Any looser and he's backed out of it. Thanks for the refresher. I had hip surgery and it's just now I'm confident in myself to take him out.

I need to train my cat to go into a harness so we can go on a plane because I hear they make you take the cat out of the carrier when you go through TSA. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. I would love some advice from other people who went through airports and flew with a cat

I think my cat knew EXACTLY what it was. Went RIGHT for it trying to munch it and my fingers every time I tried it take it off him so had to pry it off with a piece of cardboard lol. This is going to be a 'Mission Impossible' but will give it a try when I HAVEN'T given him catnip /facepalm.

My cat would never let me do that. I did manage to get a harness on her once - the body part was velcro - she rolled around till it came undone then used her paws to get collar off. I did start with a collar - once I went through the trauma of getting it on - we tried it out whilst standing at open door - once again she wriggled and pulled till she escaped it. 😮

Cats can slip out of collars in one second, never use a collar. Always a harness.

Most cats really don't like to be walked and it isn't the norm for them like it is a dog. A collar I think is so if she gets lost there's a charm with your number mostly or a glow at night collar can be seen in the dark so if he runs in the street he is seen. It makes a cat look more like it has an owner instead of a stray. You can use it with a leash to maybe tie the leash to something for a few mins so it can't run away. I think it's quite mean to try and walk a cat truly. It's quite rare to even see anyone doing it.

Have them eat indoor dry food. It's indoor formula , many different brands have it. It's mostly in dry formula but it comes in cans too from Friskiest and Fancy feast too I think. Actually cats should always eat mostly canned food. It's proven they live alot longer and should have about an 80 percent wet diet or they can die from painful kidney disease. It's quite common too. Play with them with toys too daily. You can get toys that makes it so you don't have to play with her with it like those three circles plastic thing that has a ball that goes around on each circle. You start off playing with them with it then they will donut alone always. Cats can become diabetic so just becareful and pay attention. More expensive brands have lo cal food for them too that's prob much better than grocery store foods. Give her canned tuna once in awhile in water not albacore though. Give her sardines too without much salt , no smoked etc flavoring. Cans of mackerel they love too. Big can about two bucks.

Totally agree - fastener needs to be on top and not those tiny little clips you need to press - I have not enough strength to open. I have never seen a harness with the buckles like this has - but my cat still wouldn't put up with it. I got a pet relaxer spray from my vet - it's for when I take her to get her nails cut - will try it on the next harness - 4 and counting. 😂
