BEST way to root Rare Hoya Plants Tutorial DIY. High Success Rate. Tips from a Commercial Grower

My mom has been collecting hoyas for about 8 years now and she has a lot of the rare how species in her collection. I am now sharing how we root, propagate and grow our hoyas. I've experimented a lot with different methods and wasted a lot of hoya cuttings in the process so I wanna save you guys the trouble and frustration and share what works best for me.

I find leca is the best because it holds the plant in place, and the roots love it.

Check your local dollar type store. They should be in the party section. You will have many types to chose from.

Personally I'd start linearis cuttings in perlite with rooting hormone. I have had such a hard time with linearis multiple times. I have a small stable plant now but( for me) this Hoya really doesn't like a lot of water. 😊

why don't you just leave them in the leca? my issue is when I transplant. if I have " water roots" and then I move it into soil it's never happy

She sells them in soil is what I’m imagining. As long as the soil is kept moist, but not soggy for a couple of weeks, your water props should be fine.
